Hair Tie - Short Story

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Jun 08, 2024

2 weeks later

Me and Janae have become good friends over the time she’s been here. I’ve learned a few things about her. Then of course she talks about her brother who barges in her room when he needs something and doesn’t say thank you or anything. I think he is just naturally that rude and unmannered.

Currently I’m at her house watching some movies and eating pizza that she ordered a few seconds ago.

“HEY!!” I turn my head to see Janae trying to snatch a piece of pizza out of her brother's hand. “Oh, come on, stop being stingy. It’s just pizza. Why do you gotta be so difficult? Is that for all of you women?” He snatched his pizza back and started to walk to the kitchen.

I don’t know why but something clicked in me. I got up and walked to the kitchen. “What do you wa-.” Before I could even think Levi was on the ground holding his nose. Janae entered the kitchen and looked at me then at Levi.

“WHAT DID U DO?!!?” She looked at me with anger in her voice. She rushed over to her brother asking if he was ok. “It’s fine I tripped and hit my nose on the counter. Hatenah was just trying to help me up.”

Huh? I turned my head to him confused. He just went to the fridge, grabbed an ice pack and left. Janae looked at me with a look of regret. “Sorry I assumed you did something.” “Nah it’s fine. But I need to get home before dark. But first do you mind if I use the bathroom?”

“Go ahead. I’ll walk you out when you're done.” I rushed to the bathroom and pretended to close the door. Now if you know me you know my intentions were not to go to the bathroom.

I walk down the hallways looking for a door with a sign that says ‘Get out’. I didn’t find a door with that but I did find a door with a lot of inspirational quotes and bands on it. I knew it wasn’t Janae's. I've been to her room which is in the beginning of the hallway but I’ve never been past that except for the bathroom.

I knocked on the bedroom door hearing nothing from the other side. So I decided to open the door gently to see if anyone was in there. There he was sitting on his bed with airpods, holding his bloody nose. Eh it totally wasn’t me.

All of a sudden he starts singing to the song he’s listening to. I don’t think he knows I’m here. I was gonna leave and talk to him tomorrow but something about his voice was soothing and angelic. I just stood there looking at him, soon closing my eyes leaning against the doorway.

*Cough*

I shot my eyes open to see him looking at me. I just awkwardly laughed and looked away. “Did you enjoy the show?”

“Eh” I looked away shyly, not knowing what to say. “What do you need?” He said getting up from his bed and walking over to me. I looked down real quick trying not to make eye contact. I felt something warm touch my chin and lift my head up. He was really close. I could feel his breath on my face.

*Cough*

I turned my head and saw Janae standing behind me. “I couldn’t find the bathroom.”

“Right..” She looked at me and gave me a suspicious look. I need to get out of here. I pushed by Janae and left.

*Sigh*

That was close. Maybe she didn’t see it as anything. I gotta stop this.

A/N: When writing I forgot about the project in the 2nd chapter and didn’t put it in. All together when doing the project they were supposed to argue and have a moment where they almost kissed but heard Janae coming to the kitchen so Levi backed away and said that he was tired and they needed two paragraphs left that he would finish. They ended up getting a 84% a B. Sorry again I forgot.

HV A NICE DAY!!!!!
