Chapter 7

They welcomed me surprisingly nice - even the big man who looked like he could eat me. I was afraid that they wouldn‘t accept me or even do worse things to me but I was lucky.

‘This is Evera. I found her when she was in danger and in need for help.‘ said Sturm while I stood on his side. 

‘She is a princess.‘. 

What?! Why did he say that?! Who knows what they will do now that they know that? The way those rebels hate the royal family with a passion sent shivers down my spine.

‘Oh. Really.‘ said one of the girls. She didn‘t say anything until now but her beautiful face was a contrast to the run down and dark room. She was too pretty to be fighting and risking her life. 

‘She is the daughter of the king. She got wrongly accused of murdering the princess of Kingdom Zatros. She claims it was her half-sister, Queen Levla.‘ Sturm explained. I just stood there while he talked. My face got red as I saw the members judging me with their looks. Some of them seemed to be disgusted by me. 

‘I do not condone this.‘ said the big guy.

‘How could you think it was a good idea to bring this girl to us?‘

‘Like I said, she will be very helpful for us and our plans. She has a lot of information about the crown.‘ Sturm answered. 

‘But she is still of royal blood. This speaks against everything our Band stands for.‘. 

‘Wolthard, at the end of the day I am the leader. I can bring anyone I want. But you know well that I wouldn't do something that would harm us.‘. I didn‘t know he was the leader. He seemed pretty young.

‘Does anyone else have something to say?‘ Sturm asked them as he looked around the room. The others seemed to be intimidated and didn’t say anything. They really had a lot of respect for him.

‘Now that this would be clear, let’s get to the important things.’ Sturm said as he walked to the front of the desk where the others were sitting. I didn’t know what to do and stood there frozen.

‘You can sit down, Evera. Remember, you are part of our group now.’ said the girl who welcomed me before. I quickly approached the nearest seat and sat down.

‘As you all now, the time is coming.’ said Sturm.

‘The Holy Tournament is about to begin and we will participate, of course.’.

The Holy Tournament? The time has passed like nothing as it’s already time for it.

This Tournament is only held every 10 years when the summer starts. You can only enter as a duo where you get put into a specific radius of land. The participants get equipped with a knife dipped in poison and a bow with venomous darts. You won’t die if you get into contact with the venom but you will lose the ability to talk, walk and see. 

The last remaining duo wins. The prize contains 1 ton gold and a special visit with the King/Queen.
