Mr. Alves seemed to have known his way well, he was already seated face to face with Zuella, lighting a cigar and settling in. From a distance, one could see Zuella wetting his pants from fear of the person in front of him.
Mr. Alves had a dark aura that came from him if he was so annoyed. Now his granddaughter was shot, this is more a reason for that to happen.
“Did you shot her knowing who she was?” was the only question that came out of Mr. Alves.
“I--I--I was told to shot every girl that seemed young that entered or came out of that ma—sion,” Zuella stammers with fear evident in his tone.
“That is not the answer I-”
“No sir, I did not know her at first,” Mr. Alves is cut short by a trembling Zuella.
“And now you do?”
“I do, she is the daughter of the Jameson family and we all have orders to kill her,” Zuella replies and he lifts his head to look at Mr. Alves who in turn laughs devilishly.
“That is my granddaughter that you shot” Zuella opens his eyes wide at the mention of that and he trembles more.
“For that, am going to send you back to Santos Junior as a gift but am still thinking of what to send, that will be more effective,” Mr Alves says as he stands up from his chair.
The rest are watching through the glass window. No one dares to go next to Mr. Alves when he is like that. He is the most loving and funniest man but also the most dangerous if you cross him.
“Well I have an idea, I want to see how much your boss cares for you. I will for now cut off all your three tattoos and send them over to him. Don’t worry I won’t touch the one in your face, I still want to see it,” Mr. Alves says as he commands the men in the room to do that.
“Sorry I can’t do that myself, I don’t want my Daniella to smell blood on me. It will scare her a lot,” with that statement, he leaves the room and heads out.
“aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa” screams of Zuella are had throughout the walls of that house as the door closes and nothing more is heard after that since the room is sound proof.
He meets Ray and hugs him tight and thanks him for saving Daniele. Mr. Alves was a close friend to Ray’s father even in his death, he mentored Ray to where he is now.
……………………….
Back at the recovery room, everyone entered and saw Daniella except for Ray, they got to know each other. Olivia was the eldest here and they all showed her the respect she deserved.
Daniella had united all these amazing people as she was on her sick bed without even knowing. They all had fun, but Ray left them and went sat outside Daniella’s room.
Hours passed and morning came, but Ray did not move an inch from the sit outside the room. As he was still seated, Timothy arrived and found Ray seated outside of the room.
“I’ve been told you’ve not entered the room after you finished operating on her,” Ray lifts his head to look at the person in front of him and a tear falls out of his eye.
“I could not protect her Tim, am sorry I failed,” cries Ray as he puts his face in his hands. It felt like he could tell all his worries to Timothy since he was so close to him.
In front of Timothy and Anton, Ray could break down, he looked at them as his other family. Timothy sits next to Ray and pats his back.
“You protected her Ray, you saved her in that operating room. You and I know you are the only person that can protect her. You have watched over her since that incident that took her father’s life. You have protected her well Dion Ray,” Timothy says while lifting Ray’s head whose eyes meet his.
As they seat there, the door to the room opens and Daniella comes out holding the wall for support, and they all turn to look at her.
“Daniele,” whispers Dion under his breath. Timothy gets to her, holds her, and looks into her eyes. Ray stands up and watches them and he leaves them without them knowing.
“My baby girl is awake,” Timothy says as he looks at her. She says no word, talking is a bit hard for her but gives him a smile.
Ray heads down and tells the rest of the family who come in to see her as she is on her bed. They all come, laugh with her, keep her company and they leave giving her room to rest. She looks at the door waiting for Ray to enter but he does not.
When they all leave, she pulls out her phone and scrolls down to the name Dr. Dion. She presses call, the number goes through but the sound is right outside her door.
She stands up and moves slowly to the door, opens it and Ray is standing right in front of her while gazing at his phone. His grey eyes meet her brown ones and she smiles to him, with her phone still on her ear. Ray answers the phone right in front of her.
“Hello Daniele,” he whispers out her name and she smiles more. He gets close to her but does not touch her. He pulls the phone away from his ear and ends the call. He places his phone in the pocket and looks back at her.
“May I carry you to your bed?” he asks with his eyes fixed to hers. He lifts her up with her consent, and takes her back to bed.
He tucks her in well and sits right next to her. She looks at him but his eyes are looking down at the floor. When he senses she is looking at him, he lifts his head but her eyes trail away like she was not looking at all.
He laughs out with his eyes fixed on her and his hand going through his brown hair.
He picks his phone and texts her, since she can’t talk, texting would be the best form of communication that would suit them both. She watches him type on the phone and finally her phone vibrates.
She looks at him and he smiles a little as she picks her phone up and reads the message that puts a smile on her face.
Ray: Are you feeling better?
Daniella: Yes, I am. Just a little pain in my chest. But am okay.
Ray: That will go away with time. Just give it a few days.
Daniella: Thank you for saving my life, am now indebted to you.
Ray: No, you’re not Daniele, I was doing my job as a doctor. And also I wanted to see you again. You never came back for the check-ups or even call.
With that statement she lifts her head and looks at him with a smile on his face. She smiles back and gets back to the phone.
Daniella: I wanted to call but I didn’t know what to say.
Ray: Well I had a lot to say but I just never had your number, until you called earlier on.
He looks up at her and so does she, with shock written all over her face. The deeper she looks into his grey eyes, her chicks turn pink and purple.
She feels her face burning up. He sees that and looks away from her back to his phone.
Ray: When you get well, I want to take you out sometime, if that’s okay with you?
Daniella: Well, I never go out you see, I don’t have that many friends so it won’t be fun.
Ray: That is better for me. Just take it as a way of getting to know each other well.
Daniella: Oh…Okay. I would love that.
Ray: Great then, let me focus on making you better. Get some rest, I will check on you later on.
Daniella: Okay Doctor.
With that they both put away their phones. Ray helps her lay on her back and adjusts her bed to her liking. He switches off the main light and only leaves the side lights on that is close to her bed.
He moves out and watches her from the door as her eyes close. That is obvious since her body is still weak and it can’t last long when she is a wake.
He goes down the hallway and up his room to also get some rest. He has been awake for the past four days, from the day she was shot.
He still can’t seem to get any sleep. He rolls on his bed for about an hour until sleep finally kicks in.
