When I saw movement rushing towards me, my first thought was that I needed to run, to do something. My mind was scolding my legs for not obeying me, but I couldn’t move. That was it. I was going to die here. I was going to die and the last thing I was going to see was a fuzzy...monster-like creature trying to eat me alive? Except that was the thing, I didn’t die. Right as the beast reached me, a loud explosion erupted from behind the pillars holding up the metallic staircase, blowing the creature to bits right in front of my face. Feeling its remains rain down on me, I sat on the floor, eyes wide trying to decide on what I had just seen. I was snapped out of my trance when I heard feet clatter into the room. Looking up, I saw that it was the students but they weren’t wearing their school uniforms. Instead, they were wearing these forest green SciFi-like suits. That’s not what struck me the most. In their hands, every last one of them, including the teachers, had a gun. Taking one of my goo-splattered hands, I stood up and turned to face them. They were all staring at me. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t even know what to say for that matter. And for once, I was thankful I didn’t have to say anything.
“Hey, new kid! Congratulations on not dying!” One of the students walked up to me and smacked me firmly on the back.
“Yeah. I can't believe you killed a Level E on your first day here.”
I stood there in complete and utter confusion. Do they think that I did this? I looked down at my feet and sure enough, there was a gun there. One that didn’t belong to any of the other students. I must have been so preoccupied that I didn’t notice it.
“Uh, ” I looked around and students were crowding me. I was...popular? Within that second, a decision had been made in the back of my mind. “Yeah… it wasn’t that big of a deal.”
“Look at this guy! Trying to be modest!”
I laughed “So, um, do you guys think you could help me with my stuff? I don’t know where my dorm room is.”
One of the other guys came and hit me hard on the back. Ow. I would have to start getting used to that. “Sure! Least we could do since you saved us the trouble of dealing with that thing.”
“Thanks.” I didn’t care how it happened. All that mattered to me was that it did. For once I had gotten lucky. Everyone here liked me now even if it was a misunderstanding.

One of the girls nudged me, “Isn’t he cool? You better watch out Lilian. I think you have competition.”
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. I was staring intently at this new kid. There’s something off about him. Why does he look like he’s never seen a gun before in his life? In a split second, the boy’s personality changed. He seemed almost confident now. Wow. After he left with some of the other guys, everyone else began filing out while I stayed; something just seemed off to me. I scoffed. He hadn’t even picked up his gun. Taking it into my hand, I noticed something. The gun wasn’t in the shooting position. There was no way he used it if it wasn’t even unlocked. But if that’s the case, how did he kill Level E? Level E is not the type of monster a beginner could kill. Level A maybe, but Level E? No way. Monsters are classified by their type and how hard they are to kill. Level E wasn’t extremely difficult, but to kill one without a hassle was impressive. Looking at the remains of Level E I saw that it was splattered to the front which meant...yes, I was right. It meant that whatever killed it came from the back. A bomb? That kid couldn’t have put that here last minute, it had to be planned. Did he plan this, or was it someone else…? Either way, I didn’t trust that new kid. After all, he lied to everyone.
