Less “you’re gonna get yourself killed, you silly girl!” and more “Lots of bad stuff happens around here to people who did nothing to deserve it, so as a local here are my tips for avoiding trouble.” He might still be underestimating her quite a bit, but he respects her agency and wants to help her make informed decisions.
