నేను భవిష్యత్తులోను. అది త్రాగడం లేదు, కానీ నేను మంగళవారంలో పునర్జన్మ పొందుతాను.
(I am from the Future. Don't panic, but I think I reincarnate on Tuesdays.)
Reading the note, 13-year-old Edina was dumbfounded and confused. There weren't many people in the central plains who knew Leonese, and certainly none in the Blazing Dawn Sect. Even Edina herself hadn't had a Leonese class in over a year, since she had been taught by her mother. The reason was simple: the western continent was very distant, and few merchants or people ventured to the eastern continent. It took over 8 months to sail across the ocean to reach the western continent, meaning it could even take a year just to reach its shores, this also why the Leon Imperial Family didn’t come to her parents funeral. As a result, merchants found it unprofitable to engage in intercontinental business unless it was for diplomatic relations, as was the case with the Leon Empire and the Central Plains.
Edina read the note again, this time noting that the writer had used simple words to make it easier for her to understand.
“గురువారం నేను మీ శరీరంలో తీసుకుతాను, నేను భవిష్యత్తులో వూరిలోని ఎడినా. నాకు తెలియదు అంటున్నాను కానీ ఇది జరుగుతోంది.”
(I overtake your body on Tuesdays. I am Edina from 19 years in the future. I don’t know how it happened, but it’s happening.)
The note had used the word 'overtake' as a substitute for 'possession,' since young Edina didn't know the Leonese word for it. As soon as Edina read it, she clutched her body in fear. She was being possessed by someone! It did explain why she didn’t have any memories of the last two Tuesdays, but it was still unbelievable and horrifying for her. Young Edina pondered if this was just someone messing with her, but she hadn’t told anyone about her loss of memory of the last two Tuesdays, so it was not possible for them to use it to construct a fantasy story to mess with her. Also, her mind went to Keith, the merchant, since he was the only one in the sect who knew how to write in Leonese, but that wasn't right since he hadn’t even stepped into Jinwei Mansion in the last whole week. Then there were people’s testimonies like Xiao Min telling her she woke up late, Wei and Lin talking about how she did in class, and her Aunt Li Mei shouting at her. It did add up, but it was hard to believe. Even though magic existed, possession magic was something of legends even in the tales of the western continent, so this seemed way too far-fetched for Young Edina. But it was the only reasonable explanation. Young Edina decided to read more.
Listen, Junior Edina, I'll call you that since you're young. You can address me as Senior Edina. I went through the torment of Aunt Li Mei just like you, but I never acted on it. A few years after my coming-of-age ceremony, she decided to marry me off. She chose Gondok Ho because his family had just risen to power with the Red Black Steel Business. He didn’t care for me and committed infidelity multiple times. Then, one day, when the crown prince—the first prince—rose to power, he decided to execute everyone who opposed him, including "our family." I was spared since the Leon Empire sent ambassadors and negotiated my exile there. I had some of my best days there, just like when mom and dad were alive. You would love Grandma Agatha! And let's not forget about Grandpa Andrew; he's so badass! Of course, all good things come to an end. In the years following, Angels descended from the great skies above and delivered a prophecy to the whole world, declaring that the gods had abandoned humanity and demolished the barriers that kept the underworld demons at bay. Soon after, demons from the underworld started pouring out, and destruction ensued everywhere. All of humanity joined hands, yeah even the Murim Alliance and the Demonic Sect in the central plains, to fight them off. We called this the Humanity Era War. I died on the final frontier of the war at the hands of demons. The next thing I knew, I woke up in your body last week.
It took a while for Junior Edina to read through it all, even with the simpler words. But eventually, she managed to grasp Senior Edina’s life, which was essentially her own future. It was all a bit overwhelming, especially learning about the horrible fate that awaited the world. The most unbelievable part, though, was the idea of the Murim Alliance and the Demonic Sect joining hands. Junior Edina shook her head in disbelief. So apparently, she was being possessed by her future self on Tuesdays. Now she had to live with this? Her life was already bad enough. With a sigh, Junior Edina decided to read the next page.
Now listen, if you don't want the same fate as me, we must take back what is ours. Break free from Aunt Li Mei. I know you are afraid and scared—hell, I am afraid of the darkroom too—but think about your future. Do you want to be bullied and married off to the worst family, then die at the end of the world with nothing to show for your life?
It's quite heavy to dump on a 13-year-old, but Senior Edina had no choice. Keith Maxism will leave in two weeks, and if Junior Edina doesn’t make up her mind by then, they won’t have a chance to change things for a long time. So she poured out everything she could to convince the young lady. Deep in thought, Junior Edina sighed. It’s not like she doesn’t want to try something, but every time she thinks she has the courage, she just freezes or wants to run away.Junior Edina knew that her grandfather, the sect leader, was trying his best to do whatever he could to wrest custody from her Aunt, and he only needed a small bit of support from her to bring down the thunder. But that small bit of rebellion was what she didn’t have. Every time she tried to talk to him or confront the abuse in public, she just froze at the slightest glare from her Aunt, fearing the repercussions of even trying. She then read the next paragraph.
I know you think grandfather can help you with just a bit of a push, but you are wrong. Aunt Li Mei has already caught on to the fact that he is onto them and has spies in their ranks. As soon as grandfather starts an official investigation, she destroys all evidence and kills off the spies, pushing the blame onto Xiao Min, convincing everyone that you misunderstood the abuse as being done by her but it’s not her but the maid who did it. This is something that happens in 2 years’ time when I finally had the courage to do something. Reporting the abuse in public and involving grandfather will not end well. Listen to me and do what I say; we must end Aunt Li Mei’s tyranny on our own.
Junior Edina gulped at the notion of not involving anyone and going up against Aunt Li Mei alone. She couldn’t fathom what Senior Edina could possibly do to combat this situation. After all, Aunt Li Mei literally knew who the spies were and had a backup plan to push the blame onto Xiao Min. How could she even go against this? Senior Edina was crazy, if she was real, is what Junior Edina thought as she read forward.
‘Step one: Let's take back financial control of Jinwei Mansion!’
