Today was the day she finally had her first fight against her fate. Arona stood in her modestly furnished room, the early morning light filtering through the tall windows, casting long shadows on the floor. It was a day unlike any other. She felt a strange mixture of dread and determination coursing through her veins. Surprisingly, other than her nanny, there were some maids who came to dress up Arona. Her nanny, an old woman with kind eyes but a strict demeanor, was surprised at what was going on. It was unusual for so many maids to be involved in dressing Arona. The young woman knew that it may be her final moments or her first step to destroying the roots of the Lexims household.
Arona was given some decent dresses that day which were quite better than what she had in her wardrobe. The rich fabric and intricate designs were far better than her usual plain attire. The maids worked silently, their expressions a mix of curiosity and pity. As they tightened the laces on her bodice and adjusted the folds of her gown, Arona's mind was elsewhere, focused on the monumental task ahead.
While leaving, Arona picked up some files from her bed. These files were the culmination of the secrets of her past life knowledge and the secret investigation she did over some time in this life. The evidence she had gathered was both her weapon and her shield. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the confrontation that awaited her.
When she stepped out of her room, she saw the butler standing and waiting for her. The butler, a tall man with a stern face and impeccable posture, had always been a distant figure in her life, more a symbol of the household's authority than a person. Today, his presence felt even more imposing. He gave her a curt nod and gestured for her to follow.
The butler led Arona to the carriage where the Earl had already arrived. The Earl of Lexims, her adopted father, was a man of cold authority and unyielding will. He was known for his ruthless efficiency and his ability to manipulate court politics to his advantage. Today, his demeanor was even colder, his eyes hard as flint. The Earl gave Arona a deadly stare and told her in a cold voice to sit in the carriage. Without a word, Arona obeyed the command quietly and sat in the carriage.
They left for the meeting in silence. The rhythmic clatter of the carriage wheels on the cobblestone streets was the only sound that filled the tense air. Arona glanced out of the window, watching the familiar scenery pass by, but her mind was firmly fixed on the impending confrontation. Soon, they arrived at their destination, an old antique shop tucked away in a quiet corner of the city.
Arona and the Earl exited the carriage and headed inside the shop. The shop was filled with the scent of old wood and dust, and the shelves were lined with artifacts from a bygone era. The Earl approached the receptionist, a woman with sharp eyes and a no-nonsense demeanor, and said some code. The receptionist nodded and led them into a mysterious room hidden behind a large tapestry.
Inside the room, all the other members had already arrived. The atmosphere was thick with tension and anticipation. Arona could feel the weight of their gazes on her as she stepped forward. The Earl motioned for her to present her evidence. Nervous but yet calm, she opened the file she had and showed some photos of a man in a hood talking to some foreigner.
In one of the photos, it was clearly shown that it was the crown prince. The realization hit the room like a thunderclap. Gasps and murmurs filled the air as the members of the secret council leaned in to get a better look."He also sent tons of charcoal and a huge amount of gold to foreign lands," Arona took a deep breath and began to explain what exactly this meant. She showed the reports to the members and said the crown prince is collaborating with foreign powers to strengthen his bid to take over the throne but he isn't exactly doing something to harm the empire with all the shreds of evidence we have we can modify them a little and conclude that the crown prince is trying to harm the empire wanted to overthrow the emperor and seize the throne by force." which will ultimately take away the position of the crown prince and weaken the forces of first queen The room fell silent, the gravity of her words sinking in. The members were amazed, their expressions shifting from skepticism to shock to dawning realization.
As Arona laid out the details of the conspiracy, the room buzzed with the weight of the revelation. The documents she had painstakingly collected were passed around, scrutinized, and discussed in hushed tones. The evidence was compelling, and the implications were staggering. This was no mere power play; it was a plot that could plunge the entire kingdom into chaos.
The Earl, who had remained silent throughout Arona's presentation, finally spoke. His voice was calm, but there was an edge of steel in his tone. "This is serious," he said, addressing the council. "We must act swiftly and decisively. The fate of the kingdom rests on our shoulders."
Arona watched as the members of the council nodded in agreement, their resolve hardening. For the first time, she felt a glimmer of hope. She had taken the first step in a perilous journey, but it was a step that could change everything.
