One year ago at the cafeteria university...

" So, do you have any plans for this weekend? " Said Kenny while eating a piece of cake. 

" Plans? Are you serious? " I said while reading my textbook.

" What? What? Don't tell me you are busy! " 

" We should study for finals, Kenny. We are almost done. "

" Every time I tell you to hang out with me, you come up with these annoying excuses. " 

" Huh? Babe, I promise are our graduation, I will do whatever you want. " I flipped the paper.

Kenny slammed the table putting everyone and me at ease. Like always. This is embarrassing. Everyone is staring at us.

" At least look at me. " Kenny said angrily. 

" Kenny, you don't have to do this. Clam down. "

Kenny grabbed her hot coffee and poured it into my book. I jumped back and I started picking up my phone and my things away from the book. I looked up and she was already leaving the cafeteria. While walking out to follow Kenny, I can feel everyone's eyes burning a hole into my head. I already knew what they were saying. ''' oh this girl again, he only cares about himself, I'm over them why don't they break up already?, I gotta clean all of this I hate my job''' I rushed outside leaving all of my things behind. I kept shouting for her to stop. Kenny stopped but she wasn't facing me. I'm facing her back.

" Babe, Listen. I'm sorry. You know how my family will do If I don't do well in the exams. I promise I will make it out for you- "

" Alright, See you next week. " 

" What? Today is Monday. What do you mean next week? Why aren't you coming this week? " 

I kept asking and talking to her. Kenny continues walking. As I was about to follow her. 

" Hey, take your things and leave. " Said the barista, Kim. He is my best friend. 

" Oh! Yes " 

We both entered the cafe. Everyone keeps their eyes on me. It's something that I should get used to at this point. Like always, we started cleaning the ground and the table. At the back of the cafe, I drank coffee and Kim was smoking cigarettes.

" Hey dude, I don't think this whole relationship is healthy. Breakup with her. "

" Because of a small argument? " 

" What small argument? Are you crazy? You both fight all the time. She is throwing things at you. Books, Food, and stuff. You wouldn't believe what my boss said to me the other day. He said: " I think we should not give her a knife or something she might throw at this poor kid." You know she is dangerous. You don't know what is gonna happen next. Man, just think about it. Your father has given you this whole big house to start a new life. Get married and have kids. You are also gonna work at your father's company, right? "

" Yeah. "

" So what's wrong with you? I mean look at me. As the same age as you and a dropout. You have so many opportunities. Yet, you can't even think straight. "

" But, I love her..."

" Ha.. love, you say? How? Does she even care about you? You both always meet at the university. Everybody knows your arguments and fights. It's tiring too. My boss is at his limits but what can he do? He can't do anything. " 

" You wouldn't get it, Kim. Also, didn't you say you're gonna quit smoking? "

" Ah, I see what you are doing. Stop changing the subject. "

" I'm just asking you a question! "

" Man, I'm worried about you. "

" Me too. I'm worried about you. "

" I'm done. I gotta go back my break is over. " Kim threw his cigar on the ground and stepped on it. 

" Hey! No, it's not! You still have ten minutes left. "

One week before the graduation day. Kenny stopped walking and hanging out with me. She is always talking to her girl group. I tried to talk to her but she always found a way to ignore me. Every day I send her messages. To be honest, I send her a message every hour. She has been on my mind and I can't stop thinking about her. However, I took Kim's advice and thought about this whole relationship. She is always angry. But looking at how she treats other people, I think she is only angry with me. I don't do or say anything but when it comes to hanging out with her. I choose to study. Not that I'm a nerd or anything but I don't know how to hang out with her. Where and when. Not just that, it's overwhelming to be around her. I think about what her next move is every time she does or even after I finish speaking.

We both started dating in the second semester of my senior year. She was nice and so kind to me. Now it's completely different. Her old self I see it when she talks to other people. Maybe she is going through something. I tried to ask her one time and she stayed quiet the whole day. I wanna know more about her, her life, and her family. But she isn't saying anything. Maybe because she doesn't trust me. Either way, I'm sure she has her reasons. If she didn't love me, she would have broken up with me. But from her behavior, I can tell that she is upset. 

After hours of studying in my room. I looked at the clock above my bed and it was one in the morning. I have been studying for six hours with no break so I opened my computer to play some games since tomorrow is Friday. But I remembered I turned off my phone. My phone was turning on and I got over thirty messages and eleven phone calls. As I was about to open it, Kim was calling me. 

" Hey what up"

" Why aren't you picking up your phone? " 

" I wanted to focus on studying so I turned off. Why? " 

Kim hung up. I don't know what's going on. I opened my phone and all of the messages were from Kim. He sends me pictures. It appears that It was five men standing and one girl with them. The girl was Kenny. I started shaking and kept swiping back and forth and zooming in. I thought that she was in danger. I noticed a supermarket next to where they were staying and I stormed out of my room. I kept calling Kim but he was not picking up his phone. I got there by running after twenty minutes. I looked around and didn't see anyone. The street is empty. The supermarket was open so I got inside to buy a bottle of water. I was so tired already from studying but when I saw these pictures my adrenaline went crazy. I handed the cashier the money and I noticed the door on his right side was open and someone was sitting on a chair inside the room. But I can see their legs. I know this shoe. I moved and I was right. It was Kim. His face was covered with blood. He was trying to catch his breath. He was resting his head on the door. He moved his head and looked at me with his black eye.

" What happened? Who did this? " I asked.

" ... "

" Say it, Kim! "

" Run. "
