A Desperate Bargain

A Desperate Bargain

Jun 28, 2024

Milo's heart felt heavy, and his eyes were red and puffy from crying. His boyfriend’s rudeness had cut deeper than any knife. Tears streamed down his face while his friends Som and Waan sat beside him, each holding one of his hands without saying a word. Their silent presence was a balm, but the pain was still raw.

At the same time, a sleek black car rolled to a stop in front of Milo's house. The neighborhood seemed to hold its breath. Arhit, dressed in a sharp suit, stepped out first, opening the door for Kiet, who emerged with a dark aura that sent shivers down the spines of those watching. Kiet's men, all clad in black suits, joined him, creating a menacing procession as they approached the house.

Kiet’s presence was terrifying. His black suit was impeccably tailored, a gun sat ominously at his waist, and an angry snake tattoo coiled around his arm. His eyes were cold and ruthless, commanding fear and respect. The neighbors hurriedly distanced themselves, not wanting to be involved in whatever was about to unfold.

Without hesitation, Kiet’s men stormed into Milo’s house. The sound of furniture breaking and glass shattering filled the air. Milo’s mother, startled and terrified, screamed, "Who are you? Why are you doing this?"

Milo’s father, hearing the commotion, rushed out of his room. "What...what's happening?"

Seeing the chaos and his panicked wife, he fumbled for his phone, intending to call the police. But before he could, Kiet and Arhit entered the house. The sight of Kiet made Milo's father freeze in shock, his phone slipping from his trembling hand.

"K-Kiettisak Rattanakorn," he stammered, his face pale with fear.

"Honey, do you know them?" his wife asked as she ran to him.

Kiet walked towards him with a menacing smirk, a cigarette dangling from his lips. "How are you, uncle?" he asked, his tone dripping with mockery.

Meanwhile, Milo’s brother, Nuea, entered the house, his face a mix of shock and confusion. He saw their parents kneeling in front of the tall, intimidating man and panic surged through him. "What...what's going on here?"

He quickly stepped outside, his mind racing. "Brother, i need to call brother," Desperate and scared, he dialed Milo’s number.

The phone rang, and Milo, still surrounded by his supportive friends, answered. "Hello?"

"Brother, brother, get home! Our parents... they’re in danger," Nuea's voice trembled with urgency.

"What do you mean?" Milo’s voice was filled with worry.

"Please come fast, brother. Please, fast!" Nuea begged before hanging up, his hands shaking.

"I need to do something. i...i have to save my parents," Determined to protect his parents, Nuea looked around and grabbed a large wooden stick. His heart pounded in his chest as he steeled himself to confront the intruders.

Inside, Kiet took another drag from his cigarette and flicked the ash onto the floor. and sat on sofa. He glanced around the wrecked living room, his smirk growing wider. "It's been a long time, uncle," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Milo's father, still trembling, managed to speak. "Why are you doing this, Kiet? What do you want?"

Kiet leaned down, his face inches from Milo's father's. "You know what i want, uncle. did you forget everything?"

Milo's father trembled. like there is a secret that only he and Kiet know. Nuea entered the house, heart pounding, gripping the wooden stick tightly. His eyes darted around, taking in the scene of destruction and chaos. His parents were on their knees, fear etched into their faces.

"Leave my parents alone!" Nuea shouted, raising the stick, ready to strike Kiet.

Before he could swing, one of Kiet's bodyguards stepped forward and punched him hard in the stomach. Nuea doubled over in pain, collapsing to the ground, groaning. Milo's mother screamed, her voice filled with anguish, and begged, "Please, leave him alone!"

Meanwhile, Milo was sprinting home, and Som and Waan were struggling to keep up with him. He didn't know exactly what was happening, but he knew it was bad. He had to protect his family.

Inside the house, Kiet pulled out his gun and pointed it at Nuea, who lay on the floor clutching his stomach. Kiet's eyes flicked to Milo’s father. "Tell me, how should I kill him?" he asked with a cruel smile.

Milo's parents pleaded desperately for their son's life. "Please, spare him!" they begged. Kiet, however, seemed unmoved, his finger tightening on the trigger.

At that moment, Milo burst into the house, with Som and Waan close behind. His eyes widened in horror at the sight before him: his wrecked home, his parents on their knees, and his brother groaning in pain with a gun pointed at him.

Milo quickly pieced together why Kiet was there. It was all about the video—evidence of Kiet committing a murder. "I... I won't tell anyone," Milo stammered, panicking. "I won't go to the police, so please... please leave my family alone."

"What are you talking about?" Milo's parents were confused, not understanding what he was talking about. His father pleaded, "Kill me instead. Leave my family alone."

"No, father, you cannot say that. We need you. So please..." Milo’s voice broke as tears streamed down his face.

He pulled out his phone with trembling hands. "I will delete this video," he said, showing Kiet the screen. "So please, leave my family alone."

Kiet watched as Milo deleted the video, a satisfied smirk forming on his lips. He walked extremely close to Milo. "As I thought, you're interesting," Kiet said. Then, turning back to Milo's parents, he pointed the gun at them. "But what can I do? You all need to die, including those two who followed you here."

Everyone panicked, not knowing how to escape this nightmare. Kiet's finger tightened on the trigger, about to shoot Milo's father, when Milo's mother suddenly shouted, "Marry my son!"

The room fell silent, everyone stunned by her words. Milo’s father looked at her in shock. "What are you talking about?" he asked, bewildered.

Milo's mother, desperate and seeing no other way out, continued, "I know, honey, they are loan sharks." She turned to Kiet, pleading, "Please, take our son instead. He'll marry you. He'll do anything you want. Just spare our lives."

Kiet looked at Milo, his eyes scanning him from head to toe. After a moment, he lowered his weapon. "Very well," he said, a twisted smile playing on his lips. "I will take your son instead."

Milo stood frozen, disbelief and fear coursing through him. "What!"

Milo, a cheerful yet impoverished college student, navigated his days with a smile despite his financial struggles. However, his life took a dark turn when he witnessed a cold-blooded murder by a menacing tall man. The murderer noticed him, and from that moment on, Milo felt the man's eyes on him everywhere.

One evening, Milo found his parents at the mercy of the same tall man. To save their lives, his parents shockingly offered Milo's marriage to the murderer. "Please, take our son instead," his mother pleaded. "He'll marry you. He'll do anything you want. Just spare our lives."

Milo felt his world tilt as the words sank in. "Marry this man?" His mind reeled at the thought, but he saw the steely resolve in the man's eyes, the gun still aimed at his parents.

The tall man considered their proposal, his eyes never leaving Milo. After a long, tense moment, he lowered his weapon. "Very well," he said. "Your son will come with me."
