The bell rings, like the old Samsung ringtone. As my grandmother is about to open the door, I devance her and answer the door. As I was expecting, Avery stood right in front of me.
- - Hey, Nora! Wasn’t expecting to arrive at the good address, honestly…she says.
Like always, she is stunning. Her eyes are ocean blue, deep like the sea, while her hair is wavy on her shoulders, brown coloured. She wears an oversized hoodie with baggy pants.
- - Really? How come? Did you get lost?
- - No, I didn’t, fortunately. But hey, can I enter? Without looking disrespectful… she asks
I nod my head, as she greets my family, closing the door behind her. We meet up in the living room, and she smiles at me.
- - So, Nora…Anything you want to talk about?
- - Well, how about we talk about you first? I heard you crying on the phone slightly when we talked…
Avery looks away from me as if she’s ashamed of her actions. And she was the one who said that we should be ourselves. She sighs deeply and looks back at me.
- - Look, Nora, I know you’ve had a lot to deal with, but…. Do you remember Dylan?
I freeze when I hear my ex’s name, the one who cheated on me. I quickly snap back to reality, as I nod.
- - Well, he…he kind of asked me out. she responds as she takes a deep breath.
I frown, wondering what her answer was.
- - Did you say yes? I-I mean, you shouldn’t, be-because he’s going to tear your heart in two l-like he did to me.
- - Oh, I said yes. That may sound insane, but he looks like the type of boy that I’d like to date one day.
I stare at her in shock, afraid that she did the worst. He’s going to break her, tear her heart in two. Just wait until she comes back crying at me.
- - Nora…that’s called a joke. I said no to that heartbreaker… she reassured me.
- - But still, that’s not funny making a joke about a boy that broke my heart in two for fun, playing with my feelings. And now you’re joking saying you accepted a date with him, plus you’d like to date him someday? I can’t let that happen; we can’t go into Dylan’s drama again!
Avery looks away, as she starts crying.
- - Hey, it’s not your fault. You were trying to make me feel better but it….it just didn’t happen. At least you tried.
She looks up at me with a shy smile. Avery seems truly unhappy. I wonder what’s on her mind. I hope she knows that she can trust me…
- - Thanks, Nora. You know the only reason for my sadness is you. I miss you so bad. I have nobody except you…
