“Hey Liv!” Jackson greets me at the door like he always does. “I’m so happy to see you!” His smile is beaming as he pulls me into a hug.

“We just spent a whole week together at your families beach house!”

“Yea I know, but it’s been a day since we’ve got back and I’m happy to see you again.” Jackson finally lets me go so I can take my shoes off and we make our way into his parents’ living room.

We’ve only been together for two months now and things are going so well. I can’t help but want to spend every second possible with Jackson. Even the trip with his whole family went so well. I’m so happy I found someone like him.

Sitting on the couch, Jackson sits right next to me, but he faces me. His hands are on my legs, and he looks serious.

“I want to tell you something.” He says. A wave of nervousness rushes over me.

“Ok...” I nervously giggle. “What is it?”

“I had such a good time with you this past week.”

“Oh, yea I had a great time with you too.” I say smiling. He’s making a lot of eye contact and the anticipation for where this is going eats away at me.

“I have really enjoyed these past two months with you too.”

“Jackson, why are you talking like this?” I laugh. “We’ve been friends for years now.”

“Yea, but it’s different now. You know, with us dating.”

“Yes, I suppose it is different now. But what are you trying to say? You’re making me nervous Jackson.” He grasps my hands in his and looking into his eyes I see the start of tears welling up. “Jackson, what’s wrong?”

“No, no, nothing's wrong. I just wanted to tell you…” He looks away wiping water from his eyes. I just continue to look at him, my mind races of all the possible things he could be trying to tell me.

He grabs my hands again and adjusts himself on the couch.

“Oliva, I am in love with you.” His voice cracks as he finally says what he’s been trying to say.

“Oh, Jackson is that it?! You got me all worried!" I can’t help but smile. But seeing him get emotional over this has me feel a pull in my throat too.

“I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. And just after such an amazing week we had together with my family…I wanted…no I needed to tell you that I love you.”

“I love you too Jackson!” We simultaneously pulled each other into a hug. We sit like that in silence for several minutes. Pulling away he grabs my face and kisses me. I feel so happy I might explode. Then we hear someone coming down the stairs. He pulls away from me and we can’t help but grin at each other like idiots.

“What are you two grinning about?” Jacksons mom says as she enters the room.

“Oh, nothing.” Says Jackson and at the same time, I say,

“Hi Mrs. Wright.”

“Hi Olivia, nice to see you again.” She beams at me and then sarcastically points her finger at Jackson. “I’m watching you mister.” She laughs as she walks into the kitchen. We look at each other and laugh as we hug again.
