Orion managed to get through to the second set of doors that were guarded before. He cautiously began to look forward.
‘Even if Phalaris was no longer in place, surely, they had other security measures in place.’ He thought. ‘Now to figure out what those measures are.’
Orion tried to look forward to him opening the door but as soon as he tried to enter…
"Fuck." Orion winced. He normally didn't react this much to things happening in his foresight but after what happened the day before he must have become more sensitive than usual. Or perhaps it was some leftover symptoms from the explosion. He guessed that he hadn't completely recovered it after all. Whether it was mentally or physically was anyone's guess, but it was almost over he just had to see this through.
"What is it?" Ricky asked him.
"Beyond the door is a weapons storage. There's a security system connected to the entrance that will set off some sort of laser vaporizing everything in the doorway. There isn't a way around it that I can see." He looked forward again and again.
It was the same outcome each time. Either his shadows prevented him from going forward or he was burned by the laser, he couldn't get through.
"That's excessive." Ricky commented.
"There's probably more than weapons. Are you able to see anything else at all?" Claire asked.
"No, only what I can see from when I pass the doorway, anything further is impossible." Orion said. "I might be able to see further if we can take down the security briefly."
"If it goes down for only a slight moment and nothing happens, they might assume it's a glitch and it shouldn't rouse suspicion." Claire said. "But this is the last place we need to check."
"Imani, can you do it?" Ricky asked. The map in front of him was nearly complete. He was taking a few notes on the information Orion gave them.
"I'm on it." Imani began typing with a fury. "Try now."
"It worked. Inside there's another door on the right. It leads to some kind of server room. I think it's connected to the security system.” He said.
“Got it.” Ricky said. “What else?”
“There's also a false wall, beyond it is another laser door that leads to the president of BioPort's room. It looks like it's behind the third bookshelf to the right of the main entrance." Orion said pausing for a moment as he tried to shake off foreseen pain from the laser.
"Anything else?"
"I think this area is being used as an emergency bunker. On the other side is a room stocked to last several months of solitude." Orion took a deep breath. "There's probably an emergency escape as well but I haven't found it.”
Orion closed his eyes and tried to focus.
“If I were to use the device you gave me it indicates an underground tunnel, I imagine it's locked bio-metrically since I can't find an opening anywhere.”
"Perfect. Now that we have all their possible escape routes mapped, we should be able to corner them." Claire said, "We should be able to coordinate with the others to formulate the best time to attack. Good work, Orion."
“The sensors are picking up someone heading your way, stay alert.” Ricky informed him.
Orion continued his meandering pacing a bit here and there, while looking around with a confused expression.
"What are you doing here?" Someone called out to Orion from down the hallway. Likely someone who had been notified of the small glitch in the system.
"Nothing. I was... spacing out." Orion lied.
"You shouldn't be here." He replied, getting closer to him.
"Oh, sorry. I kinda wondered this way by accident." Orion said innocently.
"Get lost." The man pushed him.
"Well, I already am." Orion frowned.
"Get lost somewhere else." He pushed him again.
"Okay, okay I get it. Sheesh." Orion headed off back to his quarters.
The glitch in the system was evidently not the only problem BioPort was having at the time. He didn't have any intel on the situation but there were a lot more security guards around than usual.
“What's going on?” He asked. “Did we cause this?”
“We don’t have any details yet, but something definitely happened elsewhere during that time.” Claire said. “We won't know until the other agents are secure and can talk. It's best you return to your quarters as soon as possible.”
“Yes ma’am.” He said.
