Kittienia formed a bond with the merchant Tod, ensuring his safety. Meanwhile, Grant entered a bustling tavern only to face harassment. The tavern keeper stood behind a display of kegs and bottles, with tables scattered around, giving the place a cozy atmosphere. However, a group of guards at a table added a sense of unease to the otherwise inviting setting. A girl, who appeared to be associated with the guards, kept a watchful eye on them, hinting at underlying tensions within the establishment.
Upon entering the tavern, the keeper was busy cleaning glasses. Suddenly, the guards sitting at a table stared at him, their gaze piercing. Grant approached the keeper and sat by the counter on one of the stools. The tavern keeper greeted Grant and inquired, "What can I get you?" Grant heaved a weary sigh and requested, "Something light; I still have a long journey ahead." Raising an eyebrow, the tavern keeper asked, "Oh, where are you headed, young man?" Grant leaned on the bar and replied, "I'm not sure yet, but I'll go wherever my companions and I decide to explore." The tavern keeper nodded in understanding, "Ah, an adventurer, I see."
The three guards fixed their gaze on Grant as if peering into his very being. Grant broke the silence without meeting their eyes, "I'm not sure why you're staring at me as if I've committed a crime, but could you please refrain?" In an instant, the guards rose from their seats and advanced towards him, with one of them barking, "Do you think you can boss us around, punk?" With a sigh, Grant replied, "No, I just felt like you were unfairly judging me, and I haven't done anything wrong." One of the guards seized Grant's head, yanking him off the stool. Grant stumbled but regained his balance and drew one of his daggers. With the dagger pressed against the guard's neck, he deftly parried a sword strike from another guard.
Grant was dismayed, "Is this how you treat guests or civilians? Discriminating and attacking them just because they seem suspicious?" His eyes shimmered with a silver glow. The barkeep swiftly grabbed his meat cleaver, shouting, "That's enough, all of you!" The girl in the corner sheathed her sword and jotted something down on a parchment. Grant sheathed his daggers, letting out a long sigh as the glow in his eyes faded. He addressed the barkeeper, "I don't want any trouble. If you need to take me in, then do so."
The guards turned their gaze towards the tavern keeper, who doubled as the barkeeper. Upon receiving their stern looks, he gestured for them to depart. "I've had my fill of your troublemaking in my tavern! Leave now!" he exclaimed. The guards glanced angrily at Grant before exiting the establishment to inform Normand.
Grant sat back on the stool, letting out a sigh of discomfort as the tavernkeeper apologized, "Sorry about them." Grant shook his head and responded, "It's fine; maybe I need something stronger." The tavernkeeper laughed and turned to get his drink, saying, "Coming right up, sir!"
The girl took a seat next to Grant and slid him the parchment. She leaned in and whispered, "You and your friends might be in trouble; you all should have never come here." She then looked straight at the bar and added, "Don't look at me, don't engage me, act like you're still just having a drink." After that, she glanced at the tavernkeeper and said, "Put it on my tab, Trinidad." Trinidad nodded and replied, "Of course, Kat." Kat and Trinidad informed Grant that they were investigating Normand and the guards, but they pretended to be having a casual conversation. Grant sat there, listening to them, and pretended to enjoy his drink and the food Trinidad had given him.
