“Don't worry, darling, this will get better it will all take time trust me. All you can do is move on and do what makes you happy even if it means leaving to go back.”
“I can't go back. Domink, my mother thinks that you turned her from me simply because I am not like her. She told my father that because of our closeness I got further away from her. It isn't true for she pushed me from her simply because I am not her.”
“I wouldn't want you to be her, darling. I love you for who you are. I think that is why I bonded so quickly to you. Deep down we are so alike our souls are so much alike. I could keep you here unless you want to.”
“I want to stay with you. I want to be your wife and bare your children if that is possible. I want a family that is just like me in my views. I feel that here with you and your family.” she told him breaking their embraces wiping the tears from her eyes.
“As long as your sure, sweetheart. I think that we shouldn't tell my parents about us not until we find our place together. If we don't then even they will understand why we love each other despite all the hostility and prophecy that surrounds our union.”
Aurora turned away from him not wanting to see his reaction to what she had to say. “Some one knows – my father.”
“How?” he asked shaking his head in disbelief.
“I think he saw us last night. But he wasn't angry or upset at us it seemed like he was giving his blessing to our union.”
“Well, that's one down and two to go.” he said smiling. “Come let’s get you unpacked and into a bath because I think that you need to relax. Look how about you take over my bath. You just have to pour some hot water in, and I will put your things away.” Changing his way once he saw the bloodstained sheets still laying on his bed.
“It's alright. I can do it.”
“No. Aurora, please let me do it.”
“Why, what are you hiding from me?” she asked confused by his actions.
“It’s nothing, darling, only that I have yet to remove the blankets from the bed. Your blood still stains them.”
“Oh, it's alright. It's app part of becoming a woman and nothing to be ashamed of or hide. Though I will take you up on the bath then will put everything away together.”
Domink nodded and smiled as she put her bags down and left going into his washroom. As she closed the door, she could feel the weight of the world upon her shoulders fall away. Almost like today was the first day of her new life – new world. As she stepped into the tub, he could feel this same burden lift from him as well. As she laid in the tub, Domink took to cleaning his bedroom by changing the sheets from his bed. With out any hesitation he through the sheets into the fireplace so no one would see them and know their secret.
An hour later, she rosed from the tub to see him busy cleaning up his room removing all his dirty clothes and towels. As well as seeing the freshly made. She saw that he was trying to clean up his ways for her even if it is small at first. He was still trying for her. Aurora took her bath cost from her bag and put it on. Picking up her bags from the floor, she placed it upon their bed. As she sorted out her clothes and what little belongings, she brought from her home. Which wasn't much but it was a piece of her past. Domink had took her sword and placed it beside his in the living area though unlike hers his was covered in nicks. From his years of training and some small battle with slavers and native people.
By the time he went back into his bedroom she had all her clothes on the bed and was busy putting her jewellery on his vanity. He watched her for a little while unnoticed by her until she saw his reflection in the mirror.
“What are you looking at?” she laughed brushing the hair from her face.
“You.” Domink smiled. “You're finding your space here with me a lot better than I thought.”
“I realized something in the bath, hon.” she told him sitting upon their bed brushing her long hair. “This all happened for a reason, and I think that reason was to bring our two families together. Rather to end this hatred once and for all.”
“I hope that's true.” Domink said laying on her clothes on the bed.
“Domink, my clothes.”
“They're comfortable. No?” he joked.
“Yes, now get off them.” Aurora laughed breaking the tension and uneasiness that was there before.
They laughed and joked playing around with each other till nearly sunset. Leo and Hera could hear their laughter from their home bringing a smile to their face. For it gave them the faith that everything would be okay. Though Hera began to have the same feeling that was there this morning when she saw Aurora running from his home. But she brushed it off. Leo helped Hera with the food and table until she sent him to gather the children.
Upon arriving Leo could hear them still laughing and playing in the house. He didn't bother knocking choosing to let himself in and what he saw did not shock him as he had saw it all before over the years. Domink chasing Aurora and she turning it back on him.
“Are you too done?” Leo laughed as he stood in the doorway with his arms crossed shaking his head.
“Huh.” Domink said just as Aurora tackled him with both falling before Leo. “Yes, father.”
“Good, it's time to eat. You two should have an appetite after all your playing around. Come on now your mother is waiting.” Leo said as he walked away and though they could not see it he had a smile upon his face.
Aurora helped Domink up to his feet for she was laying on top of him then the two walked slowly to Leo's home where he and Hera were just sitting down. Leo was telling Hera about them playing around almost like they were both children. They laughed about this up to Domink and Aurora arrived as they didn't want to embarrass them further. While they ate and drank Aurora was busy telling them about what she hoped to do. Bring an end to the hate, explore the world, and human cultures. This didn't really surprise any of them because ever since she could talk and walk Aurora was always explaining.
As the evening drew to a close Domink left for home as Aurora helped her clean up while Leo went out for a walk. Finding himself beside Erik's home looking in it seemed like they had all but washed their hands of her. After a few minutes of watching from a far Leo left walking to Jame's home to speak with him. As they lived near each other. When he reached Jame's home to find only Lorali there as he left to speak with Erik and Willow just moments before. Leo arrived not to talk about Aurora because he had yet to know about her but to talk with his son. Leo explained to Lorali what happened to Aurora, but it fell on deaf ears. As she was close to Willow and could see no wrong with her. Sensing this Leo left not saying another word to her as he left their property Leo grumbled to himself “selfish bitch” as he looked upon her house before walking back home.
When he got home an hour later taking his time, he could see James shouting at Domink and Aurora as Hera tried to push him off their land. Feeling the fear of his wife and son Leo ran to his home arriving seconds later as he shoved James to the ground.
“What the fuck are you doing to my family?!” Leo shouted at James looking down at him with blackening eyes.
James tried to get up, but Leo kept him down keeping his foot on his chest. “She betrayed her family because that thing turned her.” James shouted pointing to Domink. “He's a broken piece of shit. He has no family and no loyalties to his own kind.”
“How dare you, James Ronan! Domink is our son not a broken piece of shit. You are the broken one.!” Hera yelled at James defending her son. “You have been broken since the day Mya died. So, what if Domink and Aurora are friends, you and Leo are friends as he was with Mya. Maybe you should think first before you speak any further James. The only Domink ever did was become friends with Aurora and be true to himself – his nature.”
“Get off of me.” yelled James as he grasped Leo's foot pulling him to the ground while he stood up reversing their roles. “You corrupted Mya all those years ago and now that thing corrupts my grand child just like all you walkers.”
“James…” Leo said trying to calm his rage. “I want you to get off my property and I want you to leave my family including Aurora alone. We will still work together but that is all our friendship. Our brotherhood for the time being is over. Now get off my land or I will move you off.”
James could see in Leo's eyes that he was more than serious he was being protective of his kin. “Aurora, you are no longer part of my family. Last night was the last time you were ever part of it. Don't ever come back!”
“I don't plan on.” Aurora told James as he walked away because now with his words and actions, she had all but found her courage to start over again with Domink and begin a new life.
James walked away that night heartbroken at the loss of his granddaughter and at the loss of a nearly ten-thousand-year friendship. Though the sting of this quickly faded away turning to hatred and contempt for them. Though he would never know the truth of what transpired between his family only knowing what Willow told him. When he got home to his wife, James told her what happened and though it brought pain to her heart it did not surprise her as she had felt for years this was coming.
Larali told him about Leo's visit and what he said about Willow and Erik. He grilled her about what she said to him knowing he was upset Larali took nothing to heart telling him the truth that she did not believe a word he said about Willow. James felt somewhat relieved that she was still true to him. For the rest of the night, they tried to forget about what happened and move on with their lives. But that wouldn't last for long because life wasn't fair for anyone not even immortals.
Back across the way everything was far from moving on. The confrontation brought back long hidden memories for Domink. Memories of his family and their prejudice against him and his race. Leo could feel Domink’s pain as could Hera. A pain to which there was no wound as it was a wound of the heart. James words reminded him just how much he didn't belong in their world because like other immortals he was the first to be abandon by his parents. This was seen to be his fault by the other immortals. Hera took him to her home away from all this pain in an effort to comfort him like she used to do when he first came to them. Now unlike before he was not alone. While Hera took care of their son Leo escorted Aurora back to Domink’s home.
“I don't understand something. Leo.” said Aurora as they walked to his house.
“What?”
“Why does everyone treat Domink like he is evil or a broken man?”
Leo sighed a deep sigh as he opened the door to the house. “It's who he is. You see our race have it in their heads that we must stick together and Domink doesn't fit that. All because of his mother, my daughter, no one blames her for she is devoted to the prophecy, and he is not. For that reason alone, the blame falls onto my son.”
“How does he manage to take all of it and still manages to live?”
“He doesn't, Aurora, he hides it deep down inside himself, but it is always there just beneath the surface. Just waiting to come to light. He's always been alone, but your friendship gives him reason to not to be alone. Now he really isn't alone because you have a kinship as you both are the same.” Leo told her as he walked her too the bedroom. Once in the bedroom Leo saw her clothes and things upon his bed. “Why are your things upon his bed?”
“D- D-Domink ….is letting me take over his bedroom until he has the space set up.”
“That is kind of him.”
“Will he be alright now. Now that he isn't alone.”
“Aurora, do you love him?”
“Yes, he is my best friend.” she said truthfully though curious as to the asking.
“Then, yes, he will be alright. Our love for him will keep him grounded and at peace now that he isn't alone in this world. Get some sleep and trust me when I say this will all be for the best in time.” Leo told her giving her some piece of mind for the night.
“I hope your right Leo because having no family makes one feel lonely.” sighed Aurora as she laid down.
“That is why we have to make our own families.” Leo said as he left the bedroom and the house.
Moments after he left, she fell asleep on his pillows as it held his scent. Across the way Domink to had fallen asleep in his mother's arms like he use to do. Hera was the only one who could calm him down and comfort him because she loved him with everything she had. When Leo came back home and saw this it brought a smile to his young face, but his old heart still ached as he could feel old things ending and new beginnings coming to a start. While he slept in his mother's arms Hera stroked his hair comforting him as he slept. Leo went about gathering his and Hera's swords and daggers then proceeded to sharpen them until they could cut through a body with one swing. Soon he too fell asleep bringing an end to this day – a day all wanted to forget and move on.
It would take many days before they could move on with their new lives. Leo left a few days later to talk with Dorian and explained what happened with his son and James. Leo's words brought fury and rage to Dorian because even though he gave his son up he still loved him. The respect he had for James was now all but gone like Leo before him. While Leo was with Dorian Hera helped Aurora and her son set up his home preparing the second bedroom for her. Cleaning up the home placing flowers in the bedroom and living areas to brighten it up. Hera taught her how to grow fruits and vegetables in the garden by the river while teaching Domink too. He would know how to care for himself. It didn't take long for the two of them to understand and learn how to garden before Leo returned with Dorian.
Dorian took his son back to his home so they could talk in the comfort of their home. They didn't talk long but what Dorian had to say gave him hope that at least one of his parents still cared for him. When he was walking away, he saw Erik watching from across the river watching his daughter as if he still loved her but was scared of his father to do anything for her.
Over the days, weeks and months everyone settled into their lives almost like nothing had ever happened. Not once since that night had Leo talked with James working several times together, they still did not utter a word. For their hatred for each other was still strong. While their hatred grew, Aurora and Domink’s love grew stronger. They took the time to get to know each other much better than before. Officially they became a couple a few months after their first intercourse though they would be the only ones that would know that at least for a short time.
