"Yes, si- I mean, Micah. So what would you like to eat first, Micah?"
Jax calling Micah by his name only felt weird to him. Although he addressed him that way in front of the cameras and the fans, he was aware that he was only doing it for his job. But at that moment, Micah was actually allowing it even without the eyes of the fans.
"Just pick whatever," Micah said.
"Well, I bought some salad since you like it. And don't worry. I took out the carrots already."
While Jax was opening the packaging, Micah thought about how Jax was the only on-screen partner who knew him a lot. The others gifted him salad many times, attempting to curry his favor. But they were never interested enough to notice that he actually left out the carrots. Jax was the first.
Jax prepared the fork and handed the food to Micah. Micah just looked at him. Jax was a little confused.
"Aren't you going to eat, s- Micah?"
"Feed me."
"Okay," Jax answered with a meek voice.
Then he opened the food and started feeding Micah. It was awkward. Micah didn't say anything at all. He just kept on looking at Jax's face which made the latter feel embarrassed. So to stop that, he just asked a random question.
"So, Micah, what's your plan for the future?" Jax asked.
"Future?"
"Like future projects. I'm pretty sure that production companies have been pitching a lot of projects to your management given the success of our series. Is there a project that has caught your eyes?"
"You said, 'The success of our series.' So you must be getting a lot of projects, too."
"I'm not really sure. My manager mentioned only one," Jax said.
"What's the title?"
"I'm not really sure." Jax paused for a moment to think. "I think it's Before We Break Up or something. It's about two guys who are about to break up and one of them asks for 60 days before they officially break up. It's like his one last attempt to save their relationship."
Micah frowned. Recalling the offers he got, none of them was about that.
"None of my future projects are about that," Micah said.
"Really? I heard that Seb-" Jax was about to address Sebastian by his nickname when he saw the big change in Micah's expression. "I heard Sebastian got the offer, too."
"Not yet. I'm still going to go over the script."
"Yet? So you're going to accept the role after reading the script?"
"If I like it, yes."
Jax was about to feed Micah the last bite of salad. But Micah didn't open his mouth when Jax put it near his mouth.
"Last bite? Or are you full already?"
"Why are you going to accept that project? I'm not there."
Jax chuckled. "That's the only offer I got. It's not like I can accept the project where you are but I'm not."
"What's so funny?"
Jax gave him a sheepish smile. "Maybe I got some other offers, too, but Ray just hasn't told me yet. Maybe he likes the plot of Before We Break Up."
"Is he the one who's going to act? Why is he the one choosing for you?"
Jax just kept quiet. He actually liked the calm Micah and he knew that whatever he said, he would just anger Micah. So he just said, "Just tell which future project you'd like for us to work on and I'll check it out."
It was quiet for a few seconds then Micah said, "Last bite."
Jax smiled at how cute Micah acted. It was the first time he saw this side of him.
"What's so funny?"
This was the second time that Micah asked the same question, but the vibes of the question this time was more playful.
"Nothing." Jax smiled widely.
After the last bite, Jax excused himself to throw away the trash. Being alone, Micah had some time to think about things. Jax's smile kept on replaying in his mind.
Jax's smile wasn't foreign to him. He had seen it a lot during sweet scenes in their series. And like the fans, Micah really thought his smile was captivating. But it never made his heart skip a beat like it did just a while ago. Thinking about it, it was actually the first time that Jax smiled at him, not his character.
"Why am I think about these things? This is stupid," Micah said to himself.
To take himself out of it, he called his manager to talk about the offers.
"Good evening, sir," the manager greeted.
"Is there a project called Beofre We Break Up that was offered to me?"
"No, sir. There are only four."
"Why was Before We Break Up offered to Jax? Shouldn't we be together?"
"The directors know that you do not really want to be tied down to one pairing, so they didn't think it was necessary to pair you two for upcoming projects, sir," the manager replied.
"I've been enduring MicJax these past few months. Do you want me to go back from scratch again?" Micah's voice was menacing. "But I heard that Sebastian also got the offer for Before We Break Up."
The manager thought of how he could phrase things so as not to anger Micah even more. "The casting director thought that Sebastian's image was perfect for the role, sir." This was the best he could come up with. If he had talked about acting skills and whatnot, Micah would surely get angry because he knew that his skills were better than Sebastian's.
"To hell with an actor's image. We're actors, not paintings. We are supposed to act according to the role given to us and the styling team is there to make sure we look the part. If all actors had to act according to their image, how many masterpieces do you think would've been made?"
"I'm sorry, sir."
"Save your sorry ass. Talk to the casting director now. I want progress tomorrow afternoon. No later than that."
"But Sebastian is the male lead, sir. It might cause some friction with his management if we do so."
Micah scoffed. "He's the male lead? He doesn't even know how to act. Let him stay in the project. But as the second male lead. I'll show he'll always be that only."
And Micah hung up.
That guy Sebastian must've thought he would be number one once he takes the male lead role. So he's also going to get sick and make Jax take care of him? That's just his wishful thinking. And I'll make sure that it remains that way.
A few minutes later, Jax returned. "Would you like me to massage your temples?" he offered with a smile.
Jax, Micah, and Sebastian are the trending names in Thailand for starring in the most popular BL series of the year. Jax plays the protagonist, Micah the possessive top, and Sebastian the one who drives the love triangle.
All is well for the three who have been in the BL industry for a few years and have only gotten a break now. But things start to take a turn when the plot in their series slowly begins to become the plot of their lives.
