[THE TWINS’S ROOM]
Aleximus stared up at the ceiling, lost in thought. He reflected on his uncle’s words until he frowned.
He hated that feeling of disappointment so much that it ate away at him.
He looked to his side to find that Jacender had fallen comfortably asleep. He rose from his bed and tip-toed over as quietly as he could.
"Jace… Oi …Jace!" he whispered. He shook him furiously but Jacender didn’t budge.
Irritated, Aleximus instead raised his arm and got ready to strike Jace in the face. "Hey, idiot... wake up, will ya?!"
Jacender's eyes began to open. His drool-crusted lip and his fuzzy vision did not help him understand what he saw next. Above him, a dark figure stood menacingly with an arm raised. Who knew what they were holding? It could’ve been a weapon.
Rightly assuming this figure sought to do him harm, Jace pursed his lips together and released a ghastly scream. Aleximus flinched and fell back while the room was filled with an ear-piercing shriek.
"WHAT THE F–" Jace started. Aleximus quickly grabbed at his mouth and stifled his scream.
"S-Shut up, you idiot!" he growled under his breath.
Jolted by his words, Jace’s vision finally came into focus. "You bastard!" He yelled, realizing the figure was Aleximus. He punched him in the stomach and knocked him down. "What's wrong with you!" He whispered, clutching his thumping chest.
Aleximus breathed in hard from the blow. He was right: Jace's punches would be bad news if they landed on someone. "You... idiot... Jace... I'm gonna... Kill you..."
"Ah!" Jace squirmed. He ran forward and tried to help him up. "I didn't mean to -- Well, I mean, it was your fault!" he rambled.
Aleximus struck the floor angrily. "Jace,"
"Y-Yeah?"
"Just shut up and sit down."
Jacender sighed with relief and joined his brother on the floor.

"I get what you mean."
They sat across from each other with their legs crossed. Aleximus told Jace about his thoughts regarding their uncle’s reprimand and asked for his opinion.
"I still don't think that matters," Jace told him.
His brother raised his brow and crossed his arms. "What do you mean it doesn't matter? Uncle Matsuda thinks –"
"But what do you think?" Jace cut in. "Are you gonna stop now because he said that? Or is what you wanna do not that important?"
Aleximus fell silent and thought for a moment. "Well, I... Uh–"
Jace smiled and uncrossed his legs. "If your dream gets crushed because someone didn’t like it, I don’t think it’s that much of an important dream at all."
Aleximus’s face flushed with anger. “Hey, watch your mouth.” he chastised. “Dreams aren’t meant to be realistic, so of course he’d think that. But that doesn’t matter!”
Selfish as it may have been, it was still his choice as to how to proceed. “As long as it's my dream, I’m going to keep finding ways to make it realistic. Even if other people laugh.”
"Glad you figured that out,” Jace waved. Somehow, without Aleximus noticing, he had slipped back into his bed. While Aleximus resolved himself, his brother was already halfway into his covers. “If we're done with this, I’d like to go back to slee–"
Aleximus jumped up and kicked Jace out of his bed.
"Wha– Hey! What was that for?!"
"Do what you want, idiot. I'm going to bed." Aleximus huffed. He never liked it when Jacender was right.
"Tsk, friggin bastard..." Jace mumbled, crawling back into bed. Though he had helped Aleximus, he was the one who ended up hurt.
"Thanks, idiot," Aleximus whispered. It was faint and unintentional, but he muttered his gratitude towards his brother. He jerked up to see if Jace had heard, but his nervousness soon turned into anger once he heard snoring from across the room.
Tsk! At least pay attention, idiot!!
Outside the door, unbeknownst to the two boys, the shadow of their uncle retreated from the frame. He had heard Jacender fall and came to investigate, but accidentally stumbled upon their conversation instead.
"Hrm..."
Matsuda scratched his goatee in an embarrassed fashion and walked down the hall in his bunny pajamas. I swear those kids grow up so fast.
He sighed, exhausted from thought. We'll figure it out tomorrow. After all, it's a pretty important day.
"Hm?" He noised, turning to the end of the hall. He thought he had heard something, but there was only silence. He turned back around and continued towards his room, unknowing that -- secretly -- across the hall, little Anna watched him close his door behind him. Once she heard him settle into his bed, she delicately snuck across the corridor and ran towards the front door.
She jumped onto the elevator and pulled the lever, sending her down. She was driven only by a single naive thought. She was awake that afternoon when her brothers carried her home and remembered Aleximus's words. “You know, that could be the way out of the Axis. It’s the last place we haven’t looked.”
Her brother had been joking, but Anna took the words literally, overjoyed with the idea of being of use to her brothers. She was filled with a sense of purpose.
This time, She beamed, It's my turn to help you guys!
