Several years later, after receiving their powers, Slinky and Matter were cruising down the road on one sunny day when all of a sudden a strange man jumped in front of their car. Slinky slammed the brakes but couldn’t avoid bumping into him as the cat that the man had in his arms flew through the air and landed on Matter’s face.

“Hey there, kitty!” Matter said as he pulled the cat off of him.

“Uh, was it just me or did that cat scream like a full fifteen seconds before we even ran into them?” Slinky questioned before getting out to check on the man.

He looked like a hobo with his grizzled chin and messy hair that looked like a pretzel. The man was on the ground in a daze but trying to hunch over as if trying to conceal something. Slinky approached and went to pick him up but the man jumped to his feet while accidentally revealing his pants which had money that was quickly stuffed in it. Not taking any chances, Slinky cuffed him and brought him to the station to try to interrogate him on where all the money came from.

Once they arrived they moved him into one of the rooms as Slinky began asking questions. After a few minutes, Matter joined him with the strangest-looking sandwich.

“W-what is that?” Slinky said, bewildered.

“It’s obviously a chicken and cheese sandwich with steak sauce.” Matter said.

“Right, of course it is.” Said Slinky.

As they were talking to each other, the man tried to get up but in doing so his pants fell down due to the weight of the money and many different jewels came spilling out.

“Alright, what’s going on here?” Slinky said to the man.

The man didn’t speak. For the next few hours, Slinky pressed the man until he finally came out of the room.

“Well, what did he say?” Asked Matter.

“All I got out of him was ‘If you sign up for CC’s Sandwich rewards, you will get a fifty percent off coupon every week for life and unlimited mayo-radish packets.’” Slinky quoted.

“Wow. Noted.” Matter said as he wrote it down.

“In any case, I confiscated the jewels and that hobo is behind bars. Let’s see how the chief wants to handle this.” Slinky said.

As they explained what they knew the chief had forensics try to identify where the jewels might’ve come from. In the end, they never found out their origin and they were allowed to keep them. Slinky used his share to upgrade their ride so they could get around town more efficiently. Meanwhile, Matter used his portion to buy ownership of CC’s Sandwiches after failing to figure out their rewards program.

Another victory for our heroes but there are still more tales to tell. It all starts in a park with an unusual woman with an unusual glass eye.
