"Do you know why I called you to the office first thing in the morning, Jax?" Mrs. Davis asked.
Jax was sitting across the boss of his management. And he absolutely knew why Mrs. David called him at 6:13 AM. Because of what happened last night, Thailand's social media was on fire. MicJax fans were celebrating and booing the SebJax fans. On the other hand, the SebJax fans felt betrayed. And there were also those who preached against homosexuality.
"I won't wait for your answer. I know you're not stupid. But I want to know, Jax. Why did you have such a show in front of the public? Didn't you say that you wouldn't do any fan service? Isn't that the reason why you only got popular now because of the plot of your series, not because of your fan service?" Mrs. Davis paused for a moment. "That's too long. Let me rephrase my question. Are you dating Micah?"
Jax shook his head. "No, Mrs. Davis."
"No?" Mrs. Davis cocked his head to the side. "So was it fan service then? Are you open to fan service now? Because if that's the case, we can arrange more projects for you."
"It's not fan service, either."
"Then what is it? It's either of the two, Jax."
Jax looked at the floor. He didn't know if he should tell his boss about Micah just being too passionate about his job. If he didn't know it, he wouldn't believe himself either.
"Fan service," Jax said.
"Fan service." Mrs. Davis clapped her hands once. "So you're open to fan service now, right?"
Jax reluctantly nodded his head. He never liked the idea of fan service. He firmly believed that it was a form of deception. That's why a lot of fans felt betrayed when they found that their favorite pairings were actually straight and were dating other people. Even though Jax believed that the fans shouldn't cross the line, it was also the industry's fault for leading them to believe such.
"Your first fan service was both good and bad. It's good because you did it in a way that doesn't really look like you're just doing fan service. You did it in an alley where people just suddenly found you. But it's bad because you did it with the wrong person," Mrs. Davis said.
"Wrong person? But I'm working with Micah right now. He's my official partner, right?" Jax asked.
"You've heard about your next project from Ray, haven't you?"
"Yes, I heard it's entitled Before We Break Up or something. He said that I'm going to work with Sebastian as the male lead."
"A Billionaire's Second Love fever will die down in a few weeks. You'll start filming Before We Break Up in a month, and the first episode will premiere in two months. You should be working on the fan service with your new partner. Or else, people will reject Before We Break Up because they're too stuck with MicJax," Mrs. Davis explained.
But that was a big problem for Jax. It wasn't just because he saw Sebastian as a little brother he had to take care of. Sebastian actually confessed to him. Doing fan service to him would just hurt him when Jax knew he didn't feel that way towards him.
Mrs. Davis noticed the worry on Jax's face. "I see that you understand the severity of what happened last night given that you've got a frown on your face. But you don't have to worry anymore since someone called the casting director and asked to take Sebastian's place. I believe you already know who he is."
Jax nodded in response.
"Since you're open to fan service now, I made some changes in your contract. I'll send it to your email. You may read it in your apartment, put your e-signature, and send it back to me. You may leave."
Jax bid farewell and went home. He turned on his laptop and was about to open his email when he got a call. Not minding who the caller was, Jax answered it and turned on the speaker mode.
"It's our first day as boyfriends. Let's have breakfast together to celebrate it," the person said.
"Micah?"
"Calling each other by our first names isn't really nice. Let's decide on a call sign. How does baby sound to you?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Haven't you read the contract, baby? Even if we're boyfriends now, I can't just spell out everything for you all the time."
Jax hurriedly opened Mrs. Davis' email. It talked about how he and Micah had to pretend to be boyfriends. Due to Micah's experience in the industry, Jax would have to listen and follow Micah's plans. But he could also voice out his own ideas for the betterment of the MicJax fan service.
"I can't sign this. This is too much. I'm okay with bits of fan service here and there, but this isn't it," Jax said.
"Why not?" The playful tone in Micah's voice was long gone.
"This is lying. Don't you feel bad for our fans?"
Micah scoffed. "This is what they want. We're simply turning their fantasy into a reality. What's the problem?"
"This is wrong, Micah. I can't sign this. I'm sorry."
"Why? Because the one you're doing this with is not your dear Sebby?"
"Micah, why are you mentioning him? He's got nothing to do with this," Jax said.
"I just thought how easily you might have said yes to this if your male lead in Before We Break Up would have still been Sebastian."
"It's not like that."
"You better sign that contract and come down in five minutes. If not, you'll see your apartment on the headlines."
Jax sighed and told Micah to wait for him. He paused for a moment then put his e-signature on the contract and sent it to Mrs. Davis.
When he went downstairs and got inside Micah's car, Micah had a big smile on his face.
Jax, Micah, and Sebastian are the trending names in Thailand for starring in the most popular BL series of the year. Jax plays the protagonist, Micah the possessive top, and Sebastian the one who drives the love triangle.
All is well for the three who have been in the BL industry for a few years and have only gotten a break now. But things start to take a turn when the plot in their series slowly begins to become the plot of their lives.
