Karina ran towards the exit. I am not dealing with this. I can just find another cave, she thought.
Then she stopped.
I should help them, she thought, and turned back to look at the figure.
The creature loomed over them. It had blue, iridescent scales across its body. Its fingers were webbed, and some scales were glowings. Its eyes were dark abysses.
"Follow me," it said. Nobody moved. The creature was getting exasperated.
Finally, Melissa stepped forward.
"I'm going in. Aster's in there somewhere." She said. The creature nodded.
Karina glanced to where Aster should have been. They were gone. However, Karina was not going in after her. It wasn't worth it.
Except for, it was to Melissa. Which meant Karina would have to go with her.
"Fine," Karina said. And with that, the creature dove into the water.
It disappeared.
...
Aster awoke in a hospital like room filled with strange creatures. The walls were a blue brick with dried mud holding it together. The floors were some sort of white material they hadn't seen before. Every nurse in the room seemed to be frantic, rushing about worriedly. The patients had some sort of blue disease somewhere on their body.
Aster dizzily tried to stand up, but sat down at a nearby nurses command. The nurse scribbled on her down clipboard.
"I'm Sunfish. Call me if you need anything!" Sunfish quickly moved on to the next patient.
Aster sat down, confused.
What did these people want?
...
Melissa felt water pull on her wings, but kept swimming, she kept swimming until she couldn't breathe any longer. But even then, her break was short, soon, however, she realized, they had made it across the lake. She saw the tiny tunnel she was about to enter, and paused. She glanced to Karina, and swam up.
"How long is that?" She asked the creature.
"Doesn't matter, there are air holes," he said.
Uneasily, Melissa took one last look at the surface, and dove in.
...
After many holes, Karina burst out of the water and into fresh air. She pulled herself onto a sandy shore and glanced around. An odd, hermit crab shell shaped spire pointed out of the water in the center, with bridges branching to other various shell towers throughout the cave. Melissa soon popped up with her, and the other creature soon after.
"Your friend is that way," he said, pointing to a tower, "Come with me."
