There Logan bought the both of them something to eat and some nice cold refreshments to drink. Then they sat down and rested their legs after almost an hour and a half of walking. As they sat and ate, Max grew very curious of the very strange looking people in the park. He began asking questions about some of the people he saw. 

Very curiously he asked, "Grandpa, why is that man's skin blue? Why is that lady part bird? Why doesn't that man have four arms? Why does that little girl have three eyes? How can that little boy turn into a monkey? What about that-"

Logan interrupted him so that he could try and answer his questions and get the boy to settle down with the barrage of curiosities he was being hit with, "Hold on now. Why don't you give grandpa a minute so he can tell you.....?" 

"Oh okay," replied Maxwell. 

"You see back when your grandpa was still very young there was an incident that happened where a massive meteor exploded in space and all the tiny fragments fell to Earth like a thousand shooting stars. This meteor contains power in it that changed people. Many normal people started developing superpowers. But it didn't just change normal people. It also-" he was explaining before he was interrupted by his grandson's excitement. 

Max responded with curiosity and a look of childish enthusiasm, "So that's why superheroes exist?! Do we have any kind of powers?!" 

Logan looked at Max and felt conflicted about how to answer. We did not know whether the truth would be a blessing or a curse however seeing the bright smile on the face of his grandson reminded him about when his two sons were younger and looked at the world in the same way. 

"Yes and no. People with powers existed in the world before the meteor and the meteor isn't really a meteor. I'll explain it more when you're older, but just know that a long time ago people decided they wanted to cause a lot of problems for each other. Those with powers before the meteor came had no choice but to intervene. I'm certain your teachers will tell you more in school.... once the school is rebuilt..... But no we don't have any powers." 

Max looked a little sad at the idea of not having superpowers, but surprisingly for the first time ever Logan had managed to get him excited to go to school and learn. He noticed his grandson had a genuine interest in learning about the history of the world and how people came to have superpowers. It would be a pursuit that Logan in that instant set out to nurture. 

As he and his grandson got up to continue their walk and enjoy their day exploring New Orleans, he decided that he wanted his grandson to grow up to be better than him and better than his son. Seeing that smile on that boy's face reminded him of what truly mattered. Logan believed in leaving the world better than how he found it and it was not something he could do alone. But together as a family they might just change the world. 

It became normal for Logan and his wife Lalupita to take their grandson on fun trips into the city where they would bond and experience new things as a family. For the next 5 years Maxwell lived in New Orleans with his grandparents and went to school there after the city was rebuilt. And Logan was proud to say that he helped contribute to rebuilding New Orleans better than before after he spent a staggering 100 million dollars to aid in the reconstruction and renewal of the city. 

It was in school that Maxwell had been given a basic understanding of the history of the world. The main thing that became important for students to learn is why some people have powers and why some don't, and why some people are human and others are not. 

It was here that he learned that back in 2020 there was a violent outbreak of a new disease that was created in a lab in China through experimenting with old viruses, diseases, and other ailments. This was what we in the real world know as Covid-19. The only difference is that in this world the timeline of events change for the worse. Both the Chinese and American governments who had individuals of high importance tied up in the situation put a lot of money into covering up what was going on until things got much more out of hand. As by 2023 people still had no proper medical way of protecting themselves against the virus. Because of this the infection rate was much higher and the number of people who died from it was much more extreme. 

By 2024 over 4 billion people worldwide had become infected and 750 million had died by the time the US presidential election had concluded. The election had actually started much earlier as at the time President Joe Biden and his vice president Kamala Harris had been forcefully removed from their positions after being exposed to being linked with China; who at the time was just revealed to be hiding their secret responsibility in the creation of the coronavirus. Both had been exposed for secretly selling American secrets and laundering money in such high amounts that once it came to light the general public would not rest until both faced heavy criminal charges.

With such a controversy it caused political opinions in America to shift allowing for Donald Trump to regaining his presidency. He then exposed the secret truths about the origin of the coronavirus and those connected to it who tried to cover it up, and how many billions of dollars were spent from both countries to hide it. He gained massive support for his MAGA movement, and put pressure on China to try to help or face heavy restrictions and sanctions from not only the US, but also it's allies who he was easily able to convince to turn against China with his revelations.

This resulted in to deep cuts of China's GDP and budgets for specific goals they had been working on. Most importantly of which was China's effort to retake Taiwan. The country as a whole had lost close to 30 trillion dollars and only the first month of Donald Trump's second term as president due to all the information being revealed. This cause tensions between the nations to flare up dramatically, but China was not the only country who took a problem with the US at that time.

Much later than an our world, due to the timeline veering off drastically different from ours, Russia decided that it would take advantage of the weakened state of most countries in the world to try to conquer and reintegrate the Ukraine back into itself. Also seeing how some of the other former members of the USSR that had splintered off were even weaker it went for them as well. The fighting between Russia and the five countries it was trying to retake, along with the start of what people believed would be a second Cold War, this time between the US and China, captivated the world's attention. 

It served as the perfect distraction to allow North Korea to start focusing funding towards trying to go to war with South Korea and take it by force. By December of 2024 North Korean troops began invading South Korean territory and it caused a massive shift on the world stage as now the three greatest anti-American countries in the world with the strongest militaries to possibly come at it were now poised to cause overwhelming changes in the world. America felt itself being stretched thin as it was trying to maintain enough force to keep China from making any moves against Taiwan. As they began preparing for a possible defense for Taiwan while also trying to aid those fighting against Russia, and now South Korea against North Korea.

However North Korea was not the only ones to take advantage of all the conflict as the moment they began invading South Korea, the Palestinian terrorist organization known as Hamas slaughtered all of the leaders of the other major Palestinian factions within Gaza and took complete control of it. Which total control over Gaza they began mass recruiting and training the people of Gaza to retake Israel. This accommodated in the New Year's Day Bombardment as Hamas launched several hundred missiles across all of Israel. Most of which were shot down but a few did land. But the missile strikes were only a distraction as their forces moved in and began slaughtering their way into the territory controlled by the Israeli government. 

Within a week it had came to light that Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan had come together to support Hamas and planned on directly attacking Israel should Western allies assist in trying to fight off Hamas. This forced the Western world and all of its allies to rally together to fight against these four conflicts. At the same time an agreement was made by all countries and groups involved to unite and aid one another against the West. 

And thus World War III had began in earnest. As the US and its allies became known as the Democratic Allied Forces, while China and its new allies became known as the Elected Communist Alliance. In a matter of days the war went from bad to worse as several socialist and communist countries of Central and South America began to offer their assistance to the ECA and officially joined them after a month to help combat the US primarily. At the same time Japan became quite influential for the DAF as their military had actually skyrocketed for seeing the conflict ahead of time. And China was hit with a nasty surprise as their efforts to retake Taiwan were not only failing but the citizens of Hong Kong decided to separate from China as a whole and form their own city-state. They also pledged full support and aid for the DAF. 

It only took 3 months for China itself to be forced into a position where they believed not only would they lose but the country itself would fall. So they immediately began to prepare for Armageddon. That's when the war took its greatest turn, as China began to launch nukes at the USA and most of Europe. Within seconds the USA and its allies began to also fire off their nukes. This prompted China's allies to do the same and the world watched in horror as the nuclear apocalypse was now about to be a reality. 

In less than a minute the entire world became frozen in fear as they prepare to be baptized in nuclear fire and toxic radiation. And then suddenly it wasn't. At that moment where humanity believed its fate had been sealed and miraculous event occurred. 

Non-humans that had been secretly living amongst humanity this entire time came out of hiding and used powerful complex magic to turn all nuclear bombs into a massive cloud of butterflies. That day went down in history as the Billion Butterfly Ballad. When all of the countries and their citizens realize what had happened they looked to find just what the hell caused this to occur. On that day the world was greeted to the one who would rule it all. As the Sorcerer King who ruled over all non-human nations that secretly existef in the shadows of human society had decided to come forth into the light.

His name was Julius Blackknife and he was a half angel/ half elf who was the strongest sorcerer in the world. He revealed the existence of all of the non-human races to humanity and explain that they had been secretly living in the background using their magic to coexist with humanity while also living separately from them. They had refrained from intervening in human life and society so long as it did not threaten them. The nuclear apocalypse that humanity was willing to go to the extent of causing to destroy their enemies directly endangered the lives of non-humans as well. And so they were forced to intervene. 

Seeing as humanity could not simply exist without constant fighting amongst each other Julius decided that from that moment on he would rule the world and supervise all nations. He would allow for them all to continue and he would even allow for them to fight amongst each other. However there were certain methods of warfare that were no longer allowed or else the countries that use them would be wiped off the face of the Earth with a snap of his fingers. 

The main thing being nuclear weapons. Although nuclear power was still an option he allowed for people to use nuclear weaponry was completely henceforth banned. Bioweaponry like what was attempted to be created with the coronavirus was also banned. And finally the attempted genocide of any specific race or species of any kind was banned. 

Although most of these things were already covered by the Geneva convention seeing how things had fallen between humanity when left to its own devices; it was obvious the Geneva convention did not matter to them in reality. So he would enforce many of the things that the Geneva convention had prohibited as well as his three hard limits that would result in the immediate decimation of any country that broke them. 

From that moment onward non-humans began to openly interact with human society. Although many of them stuck to their own countries and cities they did begin peaceful diplomatic interactions with foreign governments and allow for tourism between nations. Although many humans rejected the idea of non-humans and overwhelming amount were actually excited to interact with them mostly due to the influence of video games and anime in pop culture.

It became so infatuating to many of them that places like Hong Kong legally fetishizes and allows for any acts of PDA or sexual contact between non-humans and any consenting party. Elves and orcs particularly became two of the most beloved races by human society for various reasons. 

Also many human laws were written and voted in to allow for interactions with members of other races to not be federal crimes due to the drastic age difference. Most non-humans live anywhere from up to 500 years or up to 1,000 which could cause disparities when they wish to get involved in either sexual or romantic situations with humans who are among the most short-lived races on Earth. 

However it was on December 1st of the year 2025 that the greatest event would occur. What people at the time perceived to be a meteor made of glowing golden light the size of the Sahara Desert was seen having suddenly appeared just outside of the stratosphere. It then immediately fragmenting in thousands of tiny shards no bigger than a basketball that fell all across the Earth.

For the first few months humans believe this to be some weird scientific occurrence that they could not explain and tried hard to. However it wasn't until the non-humans explained what actually happened that humanity was faced with an even greater revelation. The event that took place was actually called a Shattered Infinity. It meant that a God had essentially committed suicide and divided its power equally amongst the planet giving those who drink water that had dissolved the meteorite fragments of the divine energy of that being random powers.
