Many centuries ago, legend says that dragons with scales as red as rubies ruled the skies. Due to their wicked nature, humankind lived in constant fear of the Red Dragons' fiery rage. Whole villages were burned to ash on the whims of these monsters. Women and children cried out for their lives before perishing at the blood soaked claws of the scarlet beasts. None stood a chance against their fury.
Where there was Red, Blue always followed. Red brought death, destruction, and fear, while Blue bore the burden of feeding off of the dead. As if mankind was not devastated enough with the tragedy of entire villages consumed by fire and blood, sons and daughters and fathers and mothers alike were forced to watch as Blue Dragons consumed the souls of their loved ones.
Blues, tired of consuming the souls of the dead, have long since abandoned humankind in search of any remaining Reds. For centuries, the Red Dragon ruled with fear and death, until the Blues rose up and kept the terror at bay. The last Red Dragon was slain and evil was purged from the kingdom. However, the tyrannical rule of the Red Dragons still haunts the surviving Blues. Should a Blue Dragon be seen in the heavens or roaming the earth, death has prevailed, as their purpose in life remains the same.
Many were lost in the battle against the Reds and Blues for our homeland. But in the end, humanity prevailed.
But the peace was short-lived.
Soon, the other dragons began testing their strength, looking to take the place at the top of the hierarchy once held by the extinct Reds.
Green, White, Orange, and Black Dragons alike wreaked havoc on mankind once more. But humans are funny, persistent creatures and not so easily destroyed.
The creation of the Dragonguard — a collection of the country’s most skilled knights — turned the tide in the war against the monstrous enemy. With their numbers greatly dwindling, the smartest among the winged beasts retreated. Those who were foolish enough to choose to stand against the formidable Dragonguard were quickly eliminated. And thus, humanity prevailed over their greatest foe.
Humanity prevailed, yet the Dragonguard’s greatest mission has yet to be completed. A prophecy from ancient times looms over our great country of Alger-Kain as the destruction of Lumen grows closer.
Where there’s light, there’s dark. Day and night. Should balance not be found by the blood moon, harm shall befall the city of Light.
