Claude came home with a smile plastered on his face and hearts in his eyes.
Ainsley walked by on her cell, then stopped, took two steps backwards and found her young brother Claude leaning against the front door with a dumbstruck smile and stars in his eyes. He seemed lost in thought, and although that was sort of usual for him, this kind of dazed look was not. “Blaine, I think your twin is broken.” Ainsley put her phone away, and slowly approached her brother. His dark hair was tussled as if he messed it up with his hands and his tall figure seemed less intimidating and more foolish in his current state. “What’s your deal? Are you sick or something?” She pointed behind herself. “Should I get mom?”
Blaine walked out of the kitchen to see his sister talking to Claude who appeared super glued to the front door. He sighed and walked toward them with his hands in the pockets of his blue short. “Where were you today? I completely lost you after the bell rang.”
Claude couldn’t get the image of August from his mind. “Yeah, I was busy,”
He answered as if he were in a dream. Blaine arched a brow, looking at Ains, then spoke again. “With what? You left your camera at home, and you don’t have any club meetings. What happened?”
“Maybe it’s a girl,” Ainsley suggested.
Blaine was about to dismiss her when he paused, and his eyes wide. “Did you… did you talk to her?” he crowded his twin, gripping the front of his shirt to shake him from his stupor.
“Wait what! There’s actually a girl? Claude, what girl?” Ainsley too invaded his space to get more information, because Claude usually wasn’t the dating type.
Claude snared once he realized that he had been cornered and was being questioned. He pushed his siblings away, shoving Blaine’s face out of his and moving Ains away by her shoulder. He caught her glare but scoffed and squeezed between them to get away from the door. “Yes, there’s a girl, and yes, I spoke with her… after maybe, kind of, accidentally stalked her.” He mumbled, twiddling his thumbs as he looked down at his shoes.
Ainsley burst out laughing, then covered her mouth to keep her laughter at bay, but that was all too priceless.
Blaine shook his head and sucked hid teeth in a bemused manner. He simply could no understand how something so absurd could happen. “How the heck did you manage to stalk her?”
Claude shrugged, stuttering cautiously. “I—I don’t know. S—she didn’t e—even notice me standing by the lockers, then she was walking so fast that I didn’t have time to catch her before she le—”
“So, you decide to stalk her?” Ainsley interjected, her arms folded and face now set after she had her laugh. That was reckless of him, and careless! “What if she had mace on her or called the cops on you?” She glared at her brother. Disappointed.
“Hey!” Claude groaned, “I wasn’t planning on doing that.” He deflated after hearing how poor his excuse was, and sighed, guilt washing over him. “It just, sort of happened… I really didn’t mean to. I wouldn’t have followed her, but I was so nervous about speaking to her.”
“Watch it, punk.” She warned, smacking his arm.
Claude deflated, “sorry. By the time I realized what I was doing it was too late. I had followed her to where she was going.” He scratched the back of his neck, and bit his lip. “It was worth it, though.”
“Wait, so she spoke to you?” Blaine asked. “She didn’t pepper spray you or cry for help?”
“Really jerk?”Ainsley said, hissing at Blaine now.
Blaine snickered and shrugged. Although Claude did a dumb thing, it had paid off. “What? I’d do that if I were her. Especially if a guy ‘accidentally’ followed me. She’s nicer than I thought. Or Claude is just lucky enough to have a cute face.”
Ainsley scoffed and pushed him away by the shoulder. “Shut it, Blaine. Don’t make jokes like that. Our brother found someone that he’s interested in, and I don’t think that should be laughed at… well, excluding the fact that he was creepy enough to follow the poor girl.” She waved her hands in the air, “but since he’s not in jail, or suffering from a pepper spray attack, I think it’s safe to say that she didn’t dismiss him when she found him creeping.” She glanced back at Claude then, “did she?” Her lack of fate in her brother’s actions was making her question her own words the second they left her mouth.
“No, Ains. Besides, she knew I was following her from since she went into that neighborhood near the school. She said it’s a quiet street, and well, she heard me coming.” He actually laughed a little as a smile came to his lips. “She’s kindhearted, and didn’t even get mad—not really. She just wanted to know why I followed her, and why I didn’t try speaking to her in school. I told her I was nervous and couldn’t find the confidence. After hearing that, she asked me to help her with the flowers that she had to plant, and then we spoke some more until she was over with her volunteering shift.”
Ainsley smiled, he was serious about this girl. She cooed, reaching up to pinch his cheeks. “Aww, she volunteers?”
Claude shrugged his sister off and nodded, trying to cover his hot cheeks. “Yes Ains, she does. She loves flowers and she knows a lot about them.”
Blaine scoffed. “Yeah, well that was a given, she wears flowers and draws them during class, so that’s plausible.”
Claude sighed, ignoring his brother and smiling as he replayed his day over in his head.
