After the Sorting Ceremony, Aurora started to feel like she belonged somewhere. Being sorted into Jana was unexpected, but she felt like it might be the perfect place for her. Ygriv was ecstatic that they were in the same house and excitedly talked about all the things they would do together. As the Opening Ceremony came to a close, Aurora felt a sense of relief and excitement for the new school year ahead.
The next day, Aurora woke up feeling refreshed and ready for her first day of classes. She got dressed in her Jana uniform and headed to the dining hall for breakfast. As she sat down at the Jana table, Ygriv joined her with a big smile on his face.
"Good morning, Aurora! How did you sleep?" he asked.
"I slept great, thanks for asking," Aurora replied with a smile.
As they ate their breakfast, they chatted about their schedules for the day. Aurora was excited to start her classes and learn more about her abilities as a majka user. Ygriv was looking forward to his first class in Alteration Magic.
After breakfast, they headed to their first class together. It was a Magne class on Defensive Magic. The teacher, a stern-looking woman named Professor Lysandra, started the class by introducing herself and going over the syllabus.
As the class went on, Aurora couldn't help but notice that there was someone in the class who seemed to be watching her. She couldn't quite make out who it was, but she had a feeling that it wasn't just her imagination. She tried to ignore it and focus on the class, but the feeling persisted throughout the entire period.
The class was intense, with lots of practical exercises and demonstrations of defensive spells. Aurora found it challenging but exhilarating, as she could conjure some sort of barrier, a very thin one, but a barrier nonetheless. Ygriv seemed to be enjoying it too, as he was already making small alterations to the spells they were learning.
After the class was over, Aurora and Ygriv were walking down the hallway when they heard someone calling out to them. They turned around and saw a group of students from Magne, one of them being the red-haired boy who scared Aurora during the Sorting Ceremony.
"Hey, I just wanted to say congratulations on getting sorted into Jana," he said, smiling at her. "I'm Ilja, by the way."
"Thanks," Aurora replied, smiling back at him. "I'm Aurora, and this is Ygriv."
"Nice to meet you both," Ilja said, nodding at Ygriv. "So, do you guys want to join us for lunch? We're having a Magne get-together in the courtyard."
Aurora and Ygriv looked at each other, unsure of what to do. They had just met these students, and they weren't sure if they wanted to join them for lunch. But Ilja seemed friendly enough, and they didn't want to offend him.
"Sure, we'd love to," Ygriv said, smiling at Ilja.
"Great!" Ilja exclaimed, leading the way. "We've got a spot saved for you guys."
As they walked to the courtyard, Aurora couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching her. She turned around, but there was no one there. She shrugged it off and followed the group to their lunch spot, listening to her own stomach roaring for some lunch.
As they sat down for lunch with the Magne students, Aurora couldn't help but feel a little uneasy. She still couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching her, and she kept looking around nervously.
Suddenly, Aurora's attention was drawn to a commotion near the courtyard's entrance. A group of students from Kateer were arguing with a group of students from Tunda. The argument quickly escalated into a physical fight, with spells being cast and objects being thrown. Aurora and Ygriv quickly got up from their seats and tried to make their way out of the courtyard, but they were blocked by the fighting students. They were trapped, with no way out except to fight their way through.
Aurora's heart was racing as she tried to think of a way out of the courtyard. She had never been in a fight before, and the thought of using her majka abilities to harm others made her feel sick. Ygriv grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him, shielding her as best he could. As spells flew past them, they ducked and weaved, trying to make their way towards the exit. Just as they were about to break through, a stray spell hit Aurora in the leg, causing her to stumble and fall to the ground. Ygriv quickly turned around and helped her up, but they were now surrounded by angry students from both houses.
Aurora and Ygriv were both scared and didn't know what to do. They tried to reason with the students, but they were too angry to listen. Then, suddenly, the Headmistress appeared, accompanied by several guides and professors.
"What is going on here?" she demanded, her voice ringing out across the courtyard.
The students immediately stopped fighting and turned to face the Headmistress. They looked ashamed and embarrassed, knowing that they had been caught in the act.
"Explain yourselves," the Headmistress said sternly.
The students started to talk all at once, trying to explain their side of the story. But the Headmistress wasn't interested in excuses. She made it clear that violence and aggression would not be tolerated at Aelhollow Academy.
"Detention for all of you," she said firmly. "You will report to the detention room after classes today. And I expect to see a written apology from both houses by tomorrow morning."
The students looked chastised as they filed out of the courtyard, heading towards their respective classes. Aurora and Ygriv were left standing there, still in shock from what had just happened.
"Are you okay?" Ygriv asked, putting an arm around Aurora's shoulder.
Aurora nodded, but she was still shaking with fear. She couldn't believe how quickly things had escalated, and how close they had come to being seriously hurt.
"I don't think I like this place very much," she said quietly.
Ygriv squeezed her shoulder reassuringly. "It's not always like this," he said. "Most of the time, it's actually pretty great. We just got unlucky today."
Aurora nodded, but she was still feeling uneasy. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about this place. She hoped that things would get better soon, but she knew that it was going to take more than just luck to make that happen.
