Along the way to school, Arthur walked past rows of colorful townhouses and crossed over several canal bridges. The streets were full of energetic cyclists who rode their bikes to schools and work. While Arthur was walking on a sidewalk, he took a deep breath of fresh air, enjoying both the song of nature and the melody of the metropolis. Strolling under the shade of the trees, while watching the lives of the people, refreshed his mind and energized his body from head to toe.
After a long walk, Arthur finally reached the final crosswalk. While he was waiting for a standing red figure on the pedestrian signal screen to change to a walking green figure, a neat man in a tidy blue suit with a brown leather business bag approached him and stopped by his side. The man was around six feet tall. He had a striking face, large muscular body, shiny black hair, short beard and gorgeous blue eyes. While he was standing, he held his head high and shoulders back.
"This town is beautiful, don't you think?" said the man.
Arthur looked at the man, who was offering a friendly smile. His face reminded Arthur of a charming prince in a movie.
Arthur returned the smile and replied, "I think so."
"Do you live here?"
"Yes, I do."
"Do you like it?"
"Not just like it, I love it. It's peaceful, and the people here are very friendly. You're not from around here?"
"Yes, I'm from a land far away from here."
"Where do you come from?"
"That's a secret. Only my friend can know it. But if we have a chance to know each other more, then I might tell you."
"Okay!"
"How long have you lived here?"
"Around two years."
"You weren't born here?"
"No, I was born in New York. I moved to Amsterdam to live with my aunt after my mother passed away."
"I'm sorry about your mother. I believe she must be a great woman."
Arthur looked at the ground. "No, she's not!"
The man gasped in shock. "She's not a good woman?"
Arthur looked at the man. "No! She's the best!"
The man smiled in relief. "You had me worried there for a moment."
Both of them laughed.
"And what about you? What brings you here?" asked Arthur.
"I'm here to work," replied the man.
"Are you here for a business meeting?"
"No, I'm not a businessman."
"Really?! What do you do then?"
"I'm a bodyguard. I'm here to protect someone."
"Wow, I've never met a real bodyguard before."
"Now you have."
"Honestly, you look more like a CEO than a bodyguard."
"The person I have to protect is very important, so I have to dress properly to match his dignity."
"Have you ever met your boss before?"
"Yes, I have, not long ago. When he saw me for the first time, he was surprised just like you."
"Who wouldn't freak out when they find out that their bodyguard looks like a CEO?"
They chuckled.
"What is your boss like?"
"Well, we just met, so I can't tell what he's really like. But from what I saw, I believe he's a good man. He's friendly, brave, and polite. He dreams big and seems to love adventure. For me, this man is worth protecting, and I'll protect him at all costs."
"Wow! I'm starting to want to meet him."
"I believe you'll meet him soon, he's closer to you than you think."
While they were chatting, the green figure came into the screen of the pedestrian signal, and they crossed the road together. When they reached the other side of the road, the man said, "Which way will you go?"
"This way, sir." Arthur pointed to the right.
"It seems we have to part here."
"You'll go that way." Arthur pointed to the left.
"That's right."
"That's too bad, I still want to chat with you."
"Maybe next time." The man smiled.
"Alright. Goodbye, Mr. Bodyguard. Nice talking with you."
"See you around, kid."
The man and Arthur gave each other waves and smiles, before going on their ways. A few seconds after separating, the man shouted to Arthur, "Hey, kid!"
Arthur stopped and turned around.
"What is your name?!"
"Arthur! Arthur Wanderer! And you?!"
"Please call me Lux!"
"Nice to meet you, Lux!"
"Nice to meet you too, Arthur!"
Arthur turned around and continued walking. But then he realized he forgot something. He halted and took out his phone, before wheeling back to Lux and shouted, "May I have your contact, Lux?!"
But Arthur couldn't find Lux. He tried looking for him in the crowd, but he was nowhere to be found, so Arthur put away his phone and continued his journey to school.
