Lux and Ferdinand charged at each other and engaged in a furious sword fight. They slashed, thrust, parried, and dodged each other. Sometimes, when they saw an opening, they threw a punch and a kick at one another. After attempting to cut each one's head, they entered a sword lock.
"There is no way that miserable human boy is a Vanderer. He has no power, no brain, and no courage. Your mother has made a terrible mistake, or maybe she got tired of a useless son like you and gave you a pointless mission."
"Don't you disdain Arthur and my mother. Both of them are better people than you."
"They can't help you stop the Annihilation. You and everyone in Arteon will all be dead, just like that infant's parents."
Lux gritted his teeth in rage.
"If only I had arrived earlier, that boy would be reunited with his parents in hell!"
Lux roared and pushed Ferdinand away. While Ferdinand was staggering, Lux rushed at him and slashed at him repeatedly. Ferdinand parried all of Lux's attacks before Lux delivered a powerful strike at his blade, knocking it out of his hand. Lux raised the sword above his head to cut Ferdinand down. But before he could do that, Ferdinand lunged at Lux and flew him to the sky. Lux lost his sword when Ferdinand crashed into him and strapped his body. Lux pounded Ferdinand's head over and over again to force him to release him.
Ferdinand brought Lux back down to the city. "I'm not a mole! Stop whacking my head!" Ferdinand grabbed Lux's face and smashed him against the roof of a townhouse. He scraped Lux along the roofs, but Lux punched him in the face, grabbed his body, and slammed him against the roof, switching places with him. Lux dragged Ferdinand along the roofs, before Ferdinand kicked him in the stomach, launching him up to the sky. Ferdinand flew after Lux and seized him again. Lux and Ferdinand rolled through the air like a spinning top, exchanging punches and kicks, before Ferdinand grabbed his arm and flung him down to the heart of the capital. He zoomed after Lux, embraced his torso, and pushed him down even faster towards the city. Lux and Ferdinand fell down to the city square—a vast open space at the heart of the capital, surrounded by grand, antiquated Western buildings. At the center of the square stood a large stone statue of a medieval general, dressed in elegant armor with a cape, riding a horse and raising his sword above his head. After crashing into a clock tower at the square, they darted away from each other and hit the ground on different sides of the square.
Both of them slowly got up from the ground, their eyes fixed on each other. The people around the square scattered away in panic.
"You're tougher than I thought, Vanderer!" yelled Ferdinand. "But no matter how tough you are, you will die today!"
"The only person who'll die today is you. I'll live as long as you breathe, and I'll never die until you and your master are erased from the face of Arteon!"
"And how are you going to erase me and my master from the face of Arteon?"
"I don't know, but I'll find the way."
"You'll be erased before you find out."
"Don't jump to conclusions, my friend, the battle isn't over yet."
"Even if you can defeat me, you'll never defeat Farsilon. My master possesses infinite power, countless servants, and an undefeatable army."
"I know, but I won't be afraid of him. If he has infinite power, then I'll gain my own infinite power. If he has countless servants, then I'll make innumerable friends. And if he has an undefeatable army, I'll create an army that will defeat it. This war will only end in one way: with you and your master being ended!"
"Don't be too cocky, my friend. Before facing my master, you have to defeat me first."
"You're right. Let's finish this!"
Lux and Ferdinand charged at each other and fought hand to hand ferociously. They threw quick punches and kicks at one another, parrying and dodging each other's attacks. Then, Lux delivered a forceful punch to Ferdinand's face. Ferdinand grabbed Lux's fist, stopping it just before it hit his face. He threw a punch at Lux's face, but Lux managed to catch it as well. They locked each other's fists, squeezing them. Ferdinand cracked a smile and headbutted Lux, hoping him to stagger away. But Lux could resist the strike. Lux shook his head to clear the haze and glared back at Ferdinand.
Ferdinand's smile collapsed. "Oh shoot."
Lux headbutted Ferdinand back, and Ferdinand staggered away from him. Lux created a long staff and swept Ferdinand's legs. After Ferdinand fell down, Lux produced a sword and hacked down at him. Ferdinand generated the trident and blocked the slash.
"That was close," said Ferdinand, before pushing Lux's sword away and kicking him in the leg. Lux dropped down toward Ferdinand. Ferdinand rolled aside to dodge the body, and as soon as Lux hit the ground, he jumped at his back and locked his head with a trident.
Lux performed a reverse headbutt on Ferdinand and elbowed him. He hardly pushed himself up from the ground. As soon as he got back to his feet, he threw himself backward, smashing Ferdinand against the ground.
Lux kept elbowing and headbutting Ferdinand until his lock loosened. Then, he slipped out of the headlock, and ran away from Ferdinand, keeping distance from him.
Ferdinand got up and sprinted at Lux. Lux and Ferdinand fought each other fiercely with their swords and tridents. But then Ferdinand managed to put Lux's sword between the prongs and flung it away.
"HA!" exclaimed Ferdinand, before thrusting the trident at Lux.
Lux created the colossal gauntlets on both hands and seized the trident with one hand, stopping it. Ferdinand looked at Lux in surprise. Lux yanked the trident, bringing Ferdinand towards him, and punched him in the face.
Ferdinand darted away from Lux and his trident, before backflipping in the air and landing perfectly on the ground with a three-point landing. Lux looked at the trident, and broke it in half. The parts of the trident fell to the ground and shattered into scarlet dust.
Ferdinand got up and wiped the blood from his mouth before igniting his fists with scarlet flame and charging at Lux. He jumped at Lux and threw a punch at him. Lux grabbed Ferdinand's burning fist with the gauntlet and flung him over his shoulder to the ground. After Ferdinand crashed into the ground, Lux raised his foot to stomp on his face. Ferdinand thrust his fist upward, releasing a jet of fire at Lux. Lux halted the stomp and jumped away from Ferdinand. Ferdinand jumped back to his feet, and rushed at Lux.
They engaged in hand-to-hand combat once again. They punched, kicked, dodged, and parried each other. But then Lux missed the blow, and Ferdinand punched Lux in the chest with both fists, sending him staggering away. Lux managed to stay on his feet.
Ferdinand leapt away from Lux, shooting fireballs at him. Lux charged at Ferdinand, evading the flame missiles. When Ferdinand landed on the ground, he projected a stream of fire out of his palm at Lux. Unexpectedly for Ferdinand, Lux didn't dodge the flame; instead, he ran through it and punched him in the face.
Ferdinand flew away from Lux, toward the building and crashed through the restaurant's window. Fortunately, the restaurant was closed, so there were no people, and the inside was dark.
Lux looked through the broken window. He couldn't see Ferdinand, but he noticed scarlet lightning sparking inside.
Suddenly, a scarlet lightning arched out of the restaurant toward Lux. Lux dodged the lightning, then looked back at the restaurant and saw Ferdinand jumping out through the broken window with an electrified body and firing a scarlet lighting at him.
That's when Lux realized he didn't need to absorb lightning from the sky to shoot it.
Lux dodged the lighting, produced a javelin and threw it at Ferdinand. Ferdinand caught the spear and thrust it at the sky. The scarlet lightning struck the spear, turning it red and charging it. Ferdinand high jumped in the air and hurled the spear back Lux. Lux leapt backward to dodge the spear. The spear hit the ground, unleashing scarlet lightning in all directions around it. After the spear ran out of charge, Lux dashed toward it to pick it up.
But before he could touch it, Ferdinand snapped his fingers, and the javelin pulled itself out of the ground and flew back to him. Ferdinand grabbed the spear, swayed his finger at Lux, and said, "Uh-uh."
Ferdinand raised the spear above his head, charging it again, before repeatedly shoving at Lux, shooting multiple lightning at him.
Lux dashed toward Ferdinand, blocking every bolt with his gauntlet. Every time the lightning struck his gauntlet, it was assimilated, causing the gauntlet to radiate brighter and surge with more electricity. Ferdinand strode backward away from Lux when he saw Lux about to get to him. When Lux made it to Ferdinand, he uppercut at him. Ferdinand leaned back, narrowly dodging the lightning fist. A streak of blue lightning coursed out of the gauntlet, elevating straight to the sky, before disappearing into the cloud ceiling, bursting out, and unleashing a myriad of minor lightning in all directions. The sky flashed with blue light.
Ferdinand stared at the smoking gauntlet in front of his face in surprise.
"Impressive," said Ferdinand.
Lux threw a punch at Ferdinand. Ferdinand skipped away from Lux, evading the strike. Lux high jumped after Ferdinand, clasped his hands together, and raised it above his head. But before he could smash his head with a ball of fists, Ferdinand ignited his foot and stomped the ground. The stomp generated a forceful scarlet explosion. Lux crossed his arms in an X-shape, bracing for the impact. The force pushed him away, but he still landed on his feet. Ferdinand lit his fists with great fire and smashed them together.
"Come on, Vanderer, give me all you got!" shouted Ferdinand, adopting a boxing stance.
"As you desire!" yelled Lux.
Lux and Ferdinand sprinted toward one another and hurled powerful punches at each other's faces. Their fists collided, forging a forceful shockwave that pushed both of them away. They flew in opposite directions towards the buildings and crashed into them, cracking their walls.
After recovering from the dizziness, Lux checked his gauntlet and found that it was grievously damaged and falling apart. Lux feebly got up and dropped the gauntlets. The gauntlets hit the floor forcibly before shattering into dust and vanishing. On the other side of the square, Ferdinand slowly stood up with a misshapen arm.
"That was a bad idea," Ferdinand cracked his arm back in shape.
Ferdinand lunged forward and flew toward Lux. But instead of dodging, Lux stood still. As Ferdinand was about to reach him, Lux casually sidestepped, and Ferdinand crashed into the wall, breaking through it.
Lux looked at the hole in the wall, hearing the noise of Ferdinand crashing into numerous pieces of furniture. A moment later, Ferdinand climbed out of the hole.
"Seriously?" said Ferdinand.
Ferdinand lunged at Lux again, but this time Lux couldn't dodge it. Ferdinand took Lux to the center of the square, slammed him against the ground, and sat on him. He created a knife and stabbed at the triangular crystal in Lux's chest. Lux kicked Ferdinand in the stomach, driving him away, before getting up, fabricating a blue crystal knife, and taking a knife stance. Ferdinand rose up from the ground and adopted a knife stance as well.
"Ooh, a knife fight," said Ferdinand.
Lux and Ferdinand sped at each other and launched into a vicious knife duel. They rapidly slashed, thrust, parried, and dodged each other's attacks. Their knives darted through the air like furious hornets, but none had landed on their opponent's body yet. Sometimes, Ferdinand and Lux dropped their knives mid-air and caught it with their other hand, before continuing the assaults. Then, they engaged in a knife lock. While they were pushing each other's blades with both hands, Ferdinand cracked a smile, released one hand from the dagger, created a fireball, and flung it at Lux's face. Lux shut his eyes and jumped backward. His eyelids got burned, but luckily his eyeballs were safe. Lux opened his eyes again and saw Ferdinand high jumping at him. While he was in the air, he thrust the knife at the sky, calling a thunderstrike onto his weapon, and dropped down on Lux with a hack.
Lux spawned another knife in his other hand and parried the strike with both blades. When the knives clashed, a bright flash erupted, scarlet lightning wildly arced out of Ferdinand's knife, and Lux dropped to his knee. Lux tried to drive Ferdinand's knife away, but it kept getting closer and closer to his face. The ground beneath Lux cracked, and Ferdinand's grin gradually grew wider and wider.
Lux gritted his teeth, roared at the top of his lungs, and shoved Ferdinand's knife away with all his strength before instantly getting up and kicking him in the stomach, hurtling him away.
After Ferdinand stopped moving backward, he fashioned his own second knife and assumed a dual-knife pose. Lux took the same stance as well.
They dashed at each other and plunged into a savage dual-knives duel. Their attacks and defenses became even faster than before. The slashes and thrusts were so swift that a normal human couldn't dodge them. After dodging and parrying for a while, Lux finally landed a knife at Ferdinand's stomach. Ferdinand looked at the stab in surprise before looking up at Lux and thrust the knife at his neck. Lux evaded the impale and stabbed another knife at his chest. Ferdinand glared at Lux with anger and thrust the knife towards his heart. Lux quickly kicked him away, before the knife landed on him. Ferdinand touched the wound on his chest and looked at his bloody hand.
"When will you understand? You can't hurt me," said Ferdinand, before his two stab wounds completely healed in a second.
They walked in circles, staring into each other's eyes.
"There's no point in trying to kill me because in the end, you'll be the loser," said Ferdinand.
"As long as I fight, I still have a chance to win. I'll lose only when I give up," said Lux.
"Or when you die. Whatever path you choose, you will face the same result. But if you don't believe me, then let me show you.
Ferdinand shattered his knives, and put his hands behind his back.
"Huh?!" exclaimed Lux.
"Attack me, Vanderer. I'll show you how powerless you are," said Ferdinand.
Lux carefully approached Ferdinand. Even as he arrived at his face, he still didn't attack. He was figuring out Ferdinand's next move. After a moment of thought, Lux initiated the assault. He stabbed at Ferdinand, but Ferdinand simply dodged it. He slashed at Ferdinand, but Ferdinand still simply evaded it.
"Come on, I don't have all day," mocked Ferdinand.
