Chapter 6.
An empty house.
The trip had been exhausting, but she had reached her destination, it was a normal house that was surrounded by weeds and very high mountains…Laurel had probably not visited that place in a long time, now this would be her new home, besides, Susan knew exactly what would happen once she arrived at this house: her father would no longer be alive and Laurel would not be alive either, there was not even anyone to call her phone, because her father avoided putting her as the emergency number, so, this was exactly the meaning of being alone and it is not that she was completely alone, because there were wild animals around the place, but this was more like her definitive independence, she could no longer return, she would only have to wait, but she does not know exactly what was waiting for her, ¿will someone come to cook?, Now she did miss the repetitive food that Laurel prepared daily and almost religiously, in any way, she would have to learn to survive, but there was not an egg in that place to boil and eat, She couldn't feel more unhappy in life. ¿Had she committed great sins in her previous life so that in this one everything was so chaotic and problematic that it even caused her to not have been born?, When she entered, she found that the house was full of dust and cobwebs, there were even mice that passed by her, running towards some room; Miraculously, there was light and the light bulbs worked, and when she discovered where the kitchen was, he ventured to open the tap, and the first thing that came out was a lot of black water that degraded until it became transparent. There was also an old-generation electric stove that when trying to connect it, the connector simply exploded, probably because a lot of tiny animals lived inside. There was another four-burner stove that must have been connected to a gas bottle somewhere to work, maybe this wasn't bad and the place wouldn't explode with her inside it; then, she came across a small two-door refrigerator that was most likely damaged because it was unplugged and there was nothing inside. Going up the stairs there was a free balcony, a single bathroom and three bedrooms, which were obviously full of dust, as was all the basic furniture that was there.
On the other hand, she was able to verify that the sheets that covered the bed were very old, but luckily, the mattress had not suffered damage, since the plastic lining had never been removed, so it had remained in good condition, and not only that, but the two mattresses in the other rooms were also in good general condition.
Downstairs, there was only a very ugly wooden sofa, the kitchen and a small room... after opening the door, she realized that it was the place where the gas cylinder was kept, and that luckily for her, there were 10 completely closed cylinders, which when she tried to move them, she realized that they were full, so at least the kitchen had to work correctly if there was a cylinder and she treated the little she had with criteria of scarcity.
