As both women entered the session room, laid out before them was a bright, empty, white space that seemed to go on endlessly. The same start the blonde has experienced over and over again when she was the attendant for other people. Once the door closed, a scene came into fruition; It was an office scenario, which was recognized by Wish almost immediately.
“Oh, I remember this!” Wish cheered with excitement as she was able to recall them quite easily. She wore a smile on her face as she told Gwady all about the interesting details of her life and recollected some facts about her colleagues at Surian Consulting Firm.
“Oh, and that was Zakai, he worked in IT for the firm.” Wish said as she pointed at the person she was referring to, walking down the rows and rows of cubicles. “And she worked the front desk, often giving people treats before the weekend.” She then pointed at an older lady, sitting in the front of the row of offices. “That guy over there was at the desk closest to mine, and kept borrowing things from me.” Wish pointed at a man sitting in one of the cells.
“And you?” Gwady then asked as they came to a stop at Wish’s office desk, it was backed up all the way to a comfortable corner, sharing a wall with the conference room. “What did you do?”
“I was a secretary for Mr. Surian.” Wish spoke with confidence, walking over to the desk. As she remembered, she proceeded to talk about her achievements as a secretary, contracted for multiple successful companies and worked alongside various business associates with no complaints. She took pride in her work, knowing that many of the business deals would have fallen short without her.
Wish walked around the office to reminisce a bit more, remember the routines, the lunch breaks, the times they hid in the restroom to rant about the working hours. It brought her attention to the last case she worked on. It was an archaeology project Mr. Surian wanted to fund.
“This project… I remember a friend of his came by, something about a favor. It must have been some favor, because it was a lot of money they requested.” Wish explained as she looked at it, “I was in charge of making sure the money got to their bank… but I can’t remember their name…” Wish spoke, looking down on the ground as she tried to recall herself working on the assignment. The scene changed, morphing according to her thoughts.
The sound of heels and dress shoes clicking against marbled flooring, wine and drink served for enjoyment and formality. Chandeliers that hung from the ceiling illuminated an enclosed canopy biome, home to numerous plants and animals displayed for entertainment. Muffled creatures roar behind enforced glass as guests mingled and finessed their words for the sake of business and pride, for a moment it wasn’t hard to mistake who were the real animals in the room. Wish walked through the party, watching as the memory played out.
She pointed out all the guests that arrived and who they were. There were only two that she couldn’t recognize. They walked in together, one was blonde with a black and white dress, while the other had red hair with a black and red dress to match; Wish had quickly dismissed them, assuming they were a plus-one from one of the invited guests and continued her trail of thoughts.
Her thoughts were forced to a halt when she stopped in front of a woman. They wore a sleeveless black dress, with two splits in front allowing the legs to be seen clearly. The top of the dress seemed almost like a tank-top, connecting to the bottom half with straps showing some of the skin underneath. Her peach colored hair went down to the middle of her back with an end on her right on the shoulder. “This is-” She turned to Gwady, wanting to speak her thoughts on the woman, but noticed that Gwady’s attention was very much pre-occupied by the two unidentified women in the crowd. Wish didn’t want to delay her findings and break the flow, so she went on without Gwady, talking to herself.
“This is who the party was held for. Selia Starrow.” Wish spoke, imagining herself speaking to Miao now, since that’s what she was used to when they cleaned her room. The more she delved into the scene, the more she became a part of it without realizing, reliving the experience instead of watching it from a neutral perspective as a third person.
Her focus was now entirely on Selia. The famous archeologist, the daring adventurer and the playful pioneer; often recognized through her dark blue trench coat and bright yellow eyes. None of that was a problem for Wish, it’s the womans’ behavior towards her boss that was the issue. Wish had seen it happen several times. The woman likes to get close and physical with him; asks about his personal life, interests, and his company; always ending it with a praise of some kind. From Wish’s point of view, it certainly looked like the archeologist wanted to take advantage of Mr. Surian. The boss’ giddy reaction to all this wasn’t making it any better as a married man.
“I know who you are, and what you’re doing. I’m not going to let it happen.” Wish stated as she came up to Selia, confronting her with angered whispers the moment she could speak. Selia was left surprised and confused as she watched Wish walk away. She stood there, almost like she was frozen in place while the rest of the party went on without her.
Feeling unpleasant about confronting the person that party was hosted for, Wish decided to leave early. She quickly got her things and made her way out of the party. Getting into her car, she wondered if she had done the wrong thing. She believed that if her boss wasn’t rejecting that behavior, then it may not be her place to stop them. What is done is done, and there was nothing more she could do that won’t make matters worse. With that thought, she turned her keys and started up the car. As the engine hummed, she took a deep breath and drove off.
The road’s low visibility wasn't much of a surprise, since the party was held in a rented out mansion up a mountain, but it did cause her discomfort. Instinctively, Wish slowed down her driving.
As she watched the trees go by, she felt her mind drift once more, thinking about what she said to Selia. She questioned if it was right to give her that warning, and she did regret the possibility of ruining the night for her. With the ever-winding road stretching further on, and the moonlight peeking through the trees, it brought an ominous feeling. The branches of the trees casted haunting shadows in the moonlight, making it look like boney hands trying to grasp at her soul. The nervous chill that was sent down her spine made her drive faster, picking up speed by the second. As the thoughts and creeping feeling flew around her head, in less than a second, Wish caught sight of some large animal. Startled, she screamed and turned her steering wheel, forcing the vehicle to veer off the road.
The last moments she saw were the sight of branches and bushes slamming against the car’s windshield as she fell into the dark abyss. The car had plummeted off the side of the cliff, impacting with the top of the trees. In the end, one limb pierced the shattered front end of the vehicle, impaling the driver within. The darkness had swallowed her up, the impact was swift, all that was left was the stillness and silence of night. It wasn’t long before Wish was washed over with a bright white light, someplace warm, someplace new.
