“So why did you come here Jay?” Brandon asked. I couldn't admit the plan, but I also didn’t want to lie to him. I found a compromise. “...I just needed to talk to someone.” I replied. “Jay, what happened?” I looked down, I promised myself I wouldn't lie to him. “Brooke... cheated on me.” I said, reminding myself of what I walked into, just hours ago. “Seriously, with who?” I could see his eyes sparkle a bit, but I also could see the sympathy. “My brother...” I replied, his eyes widened in shock. “Holy shit!” He said, unable to stop himself from smiling. “Stop smiling, this isn’t funny!” I honestly tried to sound serious, but I couldn’t help but laugh. We ended up laughing our asses off. We kept talking for around an hour. Until Brooke came home. “I’m home-” Her eyes widened in fear and embarrassment. I just rolled my eyes. “Cheater.” I mumbled. “Babe please, it was just a drunken hookup.” She pleaded. “I’ll be back...” I said, walking up the stairs towards the bathroom. I stopped at the top, I wasn’t visible to them, but I could hear them clearly. “You cheated on him?” “We both know you're happy. Now you can go off and date your little crush.” “Okay, maybe I am a bit happy. But I also know how shitty it feels to be cheated on. How could you do that to him? He’sprobably the nicest person you'll meet. He doesn’t deserve you.” “Go fuck him then, cause that’s what it sounds like you want!” She exclaimed angrily. I went into the washroom, quietly locking the door. The last thing I heard was, “HE’S STRAIGHT BROOKE! He doesn’t want me.” I actually felt like crying. I went back down the stairs, Brooke had left. Brandon was sitting on the couch. “You should probably go home, Jay.” He said as I came towards him. He avoided eye contact with me. He knew I heard the conversation. “I know you heard what I said, and you probably want to leave... just don’t hate me.” He stared at the ground as he spoke. His voice sounded broken. “I’d rather stay.” I replied, giving him a small smile as I sat beside him. There was a slim chance I could complete all 3 steps of the plan. But that didn’t make it impossible. He turned his head, now facing me. “All that shit I heard; I already knew. It wasn’tnew information.” I replied, the smile on my face. “You knew I liked you?” “You were smiling when I said Brooke cheated on me, if that's not a dead giveaway, then I don't know what is.” “Shouldn’t you be mad, you are straight, and I don't know anyone who wouldn’t be disgusted when finding out I like them.” A small smile filled my face again. “Who said I'm straight?” His eyes widened. “You’re not straight?!” I smiled again. I pulled out my phone. I opened my alt Instagram, an account he had found. I opened my story. “You follow me, you’ve viewed my story, how did you not know?” I asked, showing him my story. It showed the bi flag, saying some shit like, “I'm bi.” I posted it while I was at Asher's. “I wasn’t paying as much attention as I usually am...”
