We both went up the stairs, wanting to know why she did it. “You posted about Brooke cheating on me?” I asked as she turned towards us. “I did, I always hated that bitch, so once I heard she cheated, she finally gets the shit she deserves.” My eyes widened, what did Brooke do to get on Lily’s bad side. But before I could ask- “What did she do to you?” Asher asked. “When I was in 7th grade, when you guys were in fifth grade, this was around a month before you and Brooke kissed on your birthday. Well, I had a crush on her, and I asked her out, she said yes, and during recess, we would kiss behind the trees, bushes, anything we could hide behind. Well after around 3 weeks, someone caught us, some sixth grader. Instead of admitting it, or even trying to pretend we weren’t, she said, ‘This d*ke is trying to seduce me!’ she actually called me a d*ke.” Lily admitted, silence filled the room. “Everyone in my grade knew about me and her, and knew the truth, but the younger grades hated my guts. I pulled it out, I didn’t have to look at the name, I knew it was Brooke, she had a different ringtone. I left the room, I hit answer. “What?” I asked. “Jay, I know you hate me, and probably never want to hear from me again, and I'm so sorry. But something happened.” I could hear her voice cracking. “Brandon... got hit by a car.” I felt my phone slipping from my hand, I fell to the ground. “I’m only telling you because I know you were together earlier, and I know it was a date.” My eyes filled with tears; none fell. “So... he’s in the hospital.” “Yes, floor 2, room 15, he’s awake now, visiting hours end at 4.” Her voice cracked; the call ended.
