At the top of a treehouse hidden in plain sight, a young witch tends to her cauldron. “A pinch of feverfew a dash of foxglove, a dollop of lightning bug blood and last but not least-” The witch stops to read the recipe. “… Does that say green coriander or coriander green? Hm, oh well.”
Retrieving her glasses, the witch turns her back to the cauldron. Upon turning back around, the mixer in the cauldron shifted into a toxic green color and then exploded, scattering its contents across the walls. “What the hell!?” In her confused state, the witch puts on her glasses and reads the page, only to realize it actually says cilantro.
The witch rolls her eyes.
“Are you serious? Now I know to avoid getting recipes from mice. The witch lifts herself and descends her creaky staircase. I can’t believe today is finally here and I look terrible. In the middle of her stride, the witch stops and briefly glazes at a photo of a family. She embraces it tightly, then carefully stows the photo in her hat.
Look who made it to the last introduction. Good for you, you’re almost done. My name is Onnie Orli, daughter of Oziel Orli and Uri Starlight. When I was a child, my mother gifted me a map of my father’s academy. It’s my responsibility to fill his position once I come of age. In case you didn’t know, the first Oziel gifted my family the keys, which made us the owners of The Oakwood Academy.
Soon I will take that spot as the owner. For my family and for the young creature that will attend. I vow to support the school’s growth and maintain Oakwood Academy as a nurturing environment for learning. And also, to be the best person I can be. My job is not only a responsibility but also my purpose in this world.
