It was around 3 in the afternoon when Micah was awakened by his alarm clock. He rose up from his bed and went downstairs. Smelling something good, his strides became faster and bigger. It didn't take long for him to reach the kitchen.
In the kitchen was Jax humming while cooking. Micah smiled and thought how nice it would be to wake up with such a welcoming atmosphere.
Micah walked towards Jax and hugged him from behind. "Good afternoon, baby," he said.
Jax smiled back. "Good afternoon. I cooked your favorite."
"My favorite?"
Micah felt a bit disappointed. He knew that everyone thought he liked roasted carrot tart. But he couldn't really blame them since it was his response during an interview. But he never liked it when people knew about his personal life so he responded with something he didn't like. Also, he never knew what he liked. He was just sure of the things he didn't want.
Then he remembered what happened at the hospital. Jax removed all the carrots from the salad. He smiled at that thought. Maybe Jax would take out all the carrots again. It was good. At least, Jax knew that part of himself even when he didn't say it. It felt good to have someone who really knew him without having to bare his heart out to Jax.
Micah took a seat and rested his chin on his hands. "I can't wait to eat your tart, baby," Micah said, with a hint of playfulness.
"Don't worry. You'll get to eat it soon," Jax winked at him. "But not today, baby, okay? You have to eat your favorite food this afternoon."
Jax put the bowls on the table, sat across Micah, and pushed on bowl closer to him.
"Noodles?" Micah asked.
Jax nodded. "Spicy noodles."
"This is my favorite food?"
"Why are you asking me that? Of course, it's your favorite food. You know that."
"Okay..." Micah said.
"Wait. This isn't your favorite food?"
Seeing the disappointment in Jax's face, Micah smiled. "Just kidding. I just wanted to test you, baby. I thought you prepared some roasted carrot tart for me."
Jax released a big sigh of relief. "You got me there for a second, baby. But I'm not stupid, you know. I already know you don't like carrots since that's what's always left when we have salad in the set."
"But, baby, how did you know that I like spicy noodles?"
Micah was genuinely curious. He never thought he liked noodles. He felt indifferent towards it.
"Whenever I saw you eating a salad, you didn't look happy while eating and you didn't even touch the carrot. But when you ate noodles, you somehow relaxed," Jax explained.
Micah accepted that. He tried recalling the times they ate noodles and as far as he could remember, they ate noodles in the set two times only. And in those two times, Jax was with him. Those were the only times they ate together without other people joining them.
Micah smiled. His body unconsciously felt comfortable around Jax. So he made the right choice when he chose Jax to be his stepping stone in building his dynasty. He didn't like many things. But at that moment, he was sure of one thing he liked - Jax.
"I was only able to relax because you were with me, baby," Micah said.
When they finished eating, Jax bid his farewell to Micah since Ray picked him up. The moment that Jax got inside Micah's car, he put his hand on his chest.
"What's wrong, Jax?" Ray looked worried.
"Ray, I think you're right."
"Right about what?" Ray paused for a second when he got it. "No, Jax. Please don't let me be right. Jax, I told you to be careful, and you promised me you would. So don't say anything like that."
Jax pursed his lips and looked down. "What should I do, Ray?"
Ray realized that Jax really seemed worried about it. "Just wait it out. You might've just been shocked because of the changes."
"Shocked? But things have been like this for weeks. And wait it out? This is the second time my heart is beating fast already. Ray, what should I do?"
Jax liked Micah since he was kinder. But he didn't want to be in love with him since he knew that they were just in a contract. In movies, the stories were sweet. But they were not in a movie. He had to keep in check with reality. His feelings would just hamper their budding friendship. He didn't like that.
"I need to stop this right away, Ray," Jax said.
"Let's try to see how things will go for a week. Your heart acting that way two times isn't always an assurance. Let's see after one week, okay?"
Jax nodded. He really hoped that his feelings would go away. But he hoped a little - just a little bit - that he would be allowed ot have his feelings. He hoped that even if Micah cared so much about his career, he would be an exception, a special case.
Listening to Ray's advice, Jax waited it out for a week. But his heart beating faster became more frequent. Micah would certainly catch him sooner.
On the fourth day of the filming, he suddenly excused himself while shooting a scene because he had to go the restroom. The director was okay with it since it started raining.
In the restroom, Jax splashed water on his face. "Jax, stop being like this. You can't like Micah."
"What did you say?"
Jax turned around. His eyes grew wider. "Micah? What are you doing here?"
Micah had a serious expression on his face. "That's not important, Jax. Now, tell me, what did you say again?"
Jax's heart started beating faster. But it wasn't the sweet kind. It was beating faster out of fear.
Jax, Micah, and Sebastian are the trending names in Thailand for starring in the most popular BL series of the year. Jax plays the protagonist, Micah the possessive top, and Sebastian the one who drives the love triangle.
All is well for the three who have been in the BL industry for a few years and have only gotten a break now. But things start to take a turn when the plot in their series slowly begins to become the plot of their lives.
