“I don’t think we’re going to find anymore new information.” Wish spoke up as the session was put to a halt, the cigarette that had sat between her fingers long faded into ash. The environment shimmered, and soon the room was returning back into its original pale, wide look. Now that every lost memory was regained, she was able to see all the events that lead up to her arrival in the Realms lined up. This should’ve satisfied her, having all the gaps in her memory be filled, no longer dazed at random times. By solving the one and only problem, Wish should have felt like moving on from the Realms, to be reborn, to start anew, or to simply end her conscious existence. And yet, she felt the opposite, like a missing piece or a dark void was eating her up from within.
The attendant looked down at her hands confused, trying to understand the reason she was still devoid of the peace she longed for. “Why? I thought I could move on, and yet there is nothing!” Wish started to yell as she reached up and grabbed her own hair in frustration. “I thought if I got my memories, and answered the only question I had in my life, I could be reborn already!”
She has witnessed people pass on from the Realms many times. Some feel a sense of fulfillment and peace, others gain curiosity of what more can other lives offer. They glow and dissolve into a billion fragments and float off into the air. For the longest time, she believed that this was the kind of end she would receive if she paid her dues.
“Everything I wanted was answered. Why am I not feeling fulfilled?” Wish screamed her question out loud. At this point, she was out of patience and angered at everything.
“Oh, the lost and the tainted, how tragic, the way you are painted.” The grinning woman finally broke her silence and spoke. It only irritated the blonde further. She was not in the mood to be playing games and solving riddles with her boss.
“Shut up, Gwadeweido!” Wish screeched with a piercing voice, it echoed in the white space. “Tell me what am I missing?!” Her breathing turned sporadic as she became dizzy in the world around her. “Tell me right now!” The white room around them started to flicker along with her mindset with items and backgrounds changing constantly.
“Breathe.” Gwadeweido spoke, almost like it was a command. Wish looked at the woman, focusing on her purple eyes, and felt the world around her seemingly cooling and slowing down. “You’ve come far enough. No need to track down every trail of corruption if you don’t want to.”
“A lot happened today… Maybe you just need time, you know? To let things sink in?” Selia suggested, surprised to see the woman act in such a way.
“You’re right… Maybe I’m just overwhelmed. Maybe I need to cool down, to unwind and… rest.” Wish reluctantly agreed, taking in the words from the others in the room. The area around them returned to be an empty white area once more. Even if she wasn’t in the mood for rest, she knew it was the best thing to do at the moment.
With things now calmed down, both Wish and Selia walked away from the session, leaving Gwady behind. The archeologist continued to try and cheer up the blonde some more. As the door to the Library was closed, the blinding room darkened along with it, throwing the room into a space of pitch black.
