After running for God knows how long, I collapsed. Breathing constantly, I couldn't seem to catch my breath. "Oh God, Angeles is dead. He died in front of me. He died. I wanted him dead, but no, no, God no, no, no, fuck no. I didn't want him dead. He was an asshole. He deserved it. No one deserves that. Ahhh, ahahaha, ahahahaha," I let out loud laughs and then began to cry. Seconds later, I started punching the tree until my knuckles started to bleed.
I needed to contain myself. After all, it doesn't matter if everyone is dead. What matters is that I find the secret place, the reason I came here, just to see what killed those crewmen. I must remain strong even though I'm horribly hungry, my lips are dry, and I have no idea where I am or where to go since the map on Angeles is dead with him. It doesn't matter. I will push forward.
I get up, and a sharp pain in my feet occurs, I can't bear to walk and fall down. I take off my boots and see the horror in front of me. I cry. It's all over for me.
My feet were covered in blisters, big, red, and disgustingly ugly. Dear God, I can't walk, I can't even stand. Forget about discovering the truth; I'm going to die here.
I stopped caring about death a long time ago, but to die like this, pathetic and useless, God no. I wish I was a child again, ignorant of the truth, ignorant of human manipulators maybe then I wouldn't have end up here. Is it too much to ask for just to have happiness in your life?
I lay on the ground and glance to my right, screaming from the top of my lungs, "WHAT ARE YOU WHAT ARE YOU!?" I yell, almost rupturing my vocal cords. I frantically crawl back and see the freakshow in front of me, a malgomation of tentacles glued together, black, thick, but the scariest part was that it was larger than anything I have ever witnessed, standing bigger than the biggest dinosaur, 20 meters tall.
Fucking Christ, 20 meters tall!
It tore branches and leaves and through holes on each tentacle sucked the leaves up. Thank God it's a plant eater. This fucking island, nothing makes sense, nothing here should exist. All the creatures do fill an ecological niche, but the weirdness, the bizarre monsters, I can't, I can't, I love it, I love it! I do. It's so fascinating. "I LOVE YOU!"
I yell at the tentacle behemoth and laugh. I see near it other creatures, one which looks like a cow with the same exact body but the head is pure bone and skin and a long skull. It's a herbivore with wide-open teeth and large, bulging eyes, most likely for seeing well, especially in the dark.
Darkness surrounds this jungle; the light barely seems to pass through here anymore. It seems that this behemoth is impossible to kill, so other herbivores follow it for protection, maybe.
Another one is here too, having the armor of a rhino and being the same size. It possesses half a sail and has a round ball head with scales.
I lay on the tree observing it. I love you. Then I feel something.
I turn and see a vile beast, a humanoid lizard hybrid, with arms four meters in length, a crocodile-like head, but legs smaller than mine. It growled at me, but I noticed how it has no eyes. Does it hunt by sensing movement?
I stand still, not moving. The creature smacks the ground near me angrily and growls. I still do not move, and the beast quickly leaves. It starts climbing the trees like a monkey. The herd of animals is startled, but then the lizard turns invisible. It catches one of the cow-like beasts and begins eating it while it's still alive. The others disperse while the tentacle behemoth moves on. Everything is insignificant to this giant.
Despite being so tall, it moves fluently. And as if I haven't met enough horrors, the ugly beasts that jumped on the raft came back. The lizard raises its long arms and is able to scare them away, defending its kill. I grip the ground and stare at it.
I'm going insane. No, I'm not insane. Insane people would never say that they are insane. I am still sane, but I feel like I'm not sane.
Large shadows appear in front of me, but I'm too tired to do anything and simply collapse to the ground. Whatever it is, kill me fast or take your time. It doesn't matter.
