"Are you going to take responsibility?"
"Huh?"
His face twisted with confusion at the stranger's words.
"I was pretty much done with my life, but you suddenly went out of your way to prolong it, so I assume you're prepared to take responsibility?"
"What?! Why would I...?"
"Are you refusing?"
The stranger asked, interrupting his train of thought.
The simple look of confusion on his face seemed to serve as an answer as the stranger let out a sigh and shrugged.
"Okay. I understand," He started. "You forcefully prolonged a man's life without even having a plan. What a shame it turned to be a waste."
As soon as the punctuation of a soft released breath escaped the stranger's lips, he turned back to his previous position on the cliff, moving dangerously close to the edge.
"What are you doing?!" He questioned, his entire body jolting alert as he rushed to the stranger's side. "Are you insane?!"
A crooked smirk spread on the stranger's lips as he let out a scoff.
"I'm completing what I started before you interrupted. I suggest you back away."
"You can't be serious!"
"But I am."
The stranger's extremely quick and blunt response caused him to groan out a frustrated sigh.
"Where the hell did this mad man appear from?" Was the thought currently racing through his mind. How had he gotten himself into this position?
"Are you messing with me?" He asked seriously, a stern expression filling his face. That had to be the case, otherwise what was this situation? "Is this somehow funny to you?"
"Am I laughing?" The stranger stated in question, tipping his head to the side a bit as he gazed at him. "While this situation is amusing, it's only because you can't seem to mind your own business, yet are quick to abandon the problem you nestled. You're like a parent who walks away from a child after forcefully giving them life."
"What?!" Now he was part irritated and part confused. The man in front of him didn't make any sense, and his words seemed to prick at a small part of his subconscious which infuriated him. "I can't tell if you're messing with me or just messed up. Or is this an attempt at extorting me? Was the whole thing a set up from the start?"
"Responsibility,"
The stranger spoke.
"Responsibility is the word you are seemingly evading. I am neither extorting nor threatening you. You are stopping me from ending my life so I am telling you you need to take responsibility for saving it."
Why was it that the stranger's every word sounded enlightening, yet infuriating at the same time? It was a thought that plagued his mind and would probably continue to do so.
Rubbing the space between his eyebrows with the back of his thumb, he heaved a frustrated sigh.
"I get it. I saved you so I should take responsibility. Very well, what do you want me to do?"
The stranger paused, pressing his lips together tightly...
It was all he could do not to let out a hearty laugh.
Did he really just believe all that?
While he didn't make everything he said up, he still didn't really mean half of it, if not more.
"How can someone be so naive?" He thought to himself, wondering if the increadibly handsome man before him had ever gotten scammed. "Well, with looks like that, you have to be a little dumb. It's only fair."
He spouted off all those reasonable sounding stuff, but in the end, he fully expected him to walk away, leaving him to his own devices, after all, stepping onto the edge of the cliff was just a half-hearted bluff- well, partly anyway.
Still, he bought it, so he had to move forward. He'd said all that, but he didn't know what he'd meant by responsibility either.
So what now?
Clearing his throat, the stranger decided to sideline the matter for the moment.
"Where do you live?"
"What?" He asked, unsure of the stranger's question.
"Your place of residence, where is it?" The stranger rephrased, cocking his eyebrows.
Hesitantly, he replied.
"I live in Seoul, I'm only here because of a family matter."
"Seoul, really? Perfect. It would have been a hassle having to drive back and forth so often."
"Pardon? What do you me-"
His statement is interrupted by the sudden feeling of dread in his stomach as he glanced down at his watch.
When did it become 11:34?
He could have sworn he had only spent a moment. No, it only felt like a moment because of the ludicrous spiels the stranger spouted that made it feel like a minute was an eternity and an eternity a mere minute. His sense of time became screwed the longer he spent with him.
He had missed the bus and would have to wait for another five and a half hours for the next one. Not only would he be late for work, he'd have to start the shift without going home to freshen up first.
He really should have just minded his business was all he could think as he gazed at the stranger before him.
"Did you happen to miss the last bus?" The stranger asked after watching him intently.
He only answered with a slight glare, walking over to a nearby bench and plopping down in frustration.
"Shall I give you a ride?" The stranger asked, moving to join him on the bench.
"Hah?" He hummed, wondering if the stranger only asked to amuse himself again. He suspected that the whole night, he was in some way being messed with, but he couldn't be sure.
"Even though I didn't really ask for you help nor was I in need of saving, you missed the last bus because of me right? So I'll give you a ride."
After sharing a short look, he sighed, the smile on the stranger's face evident he was being messed with.
"Why would you go out of your way to drive me all the way to Seoul?"
Because your my type.
A quick thought passing through the stranger's mind.
Besides...
"It's not out of my way. I also live in Seoul, I was about to start heading back so you're just tagging along."
Still hesitant, he opened his mouth to refuse, but the only sound that escaped his body was the grumbling of his stomach, his cheeks flushing bright red. He hadn't had the chance to eat anything all day, so he was starving.
Unable to contain his amusement, the stranger let out a light chuckle, allowing a tiny grin to form on his lips.
"I won't take no for an answer, but before we head out, let's get something to eat~"
