As I stepped outside my room, still uncertain of the age to which I had regressed, I heard my mother calling me from my sister's room. As I entered, everything came to light.
I saw my sister sitting on the bed while a priest stood nearby, and my mother tended to her needs. I had regressed to the day after my celestial emergence. Memories of that day flooded back. The curse had rendered my sister blind on the day of her celestial emergence. The high priest was called the next day to check up on her and ensure everything else was alright.
Before I could enter the room, I heard the priest say, "She has been cursed, and I don't have the power to cure her. But as mentioned in her status window, the first ability is Starforce vision(mana sense) for the blind person."
He paused for a second and added, "If you are a person with a disability, you are given an ability from the system itself. You know, as they say, 'Nature pays for what it takes.'"
Suddenly, my mother's eyes turned toward the doorway as she saw me. "Go eat your lunch, and then take the ring to Uncle Kaewon to have it made into a Level 3 mana enhancer ring of the same size."
With a heavy heart, I made my way to the kitchen, quickly eating my lunch. The food tasted like heaven, as I had not eaten good food for years after becoming an assassin.
After finishing my lunch, I retrieved the ring and set off towards Uncle Kaewon's house, the path familiar yet filled with new realizations. Uncle Kaewon was our local blacksmith, well acquainted with my father. His house was just a kilometer (0.62 miles) away from ours, and occasionally, people from outside the area would come to buy his products.
As I walked, the strange aura from his direction grew stronger, almost as if it were calling to me. The sun was setting, casting long shadows on the ground, mirroring the shadows of my past that lingered in my mind.
Arriving at his doorstep, I knocked, and the door opened to reveal Gramps, his face lighting up with a smile. "Well, if it isn't my favorite troublemaker."
He ushered me inside. In the cluttered workshop, I handed him the ring and explained my mother's request. He began working, and the rhythmic sounds of his tools were oddly comforting.
As I wandered the workshop, my eyes fell on a hidden compartment. Opening it, I found an array of finely crafted weapons. My heart raced as memories of my past life surged back. These were top-quality assassin weapons, akin to those used by Vice Leader Raven of the Society of Shadows. Yet, maintaining my facade of ignorance, I asked, "Grampa, what are these weapons for?"
"Oh, that set of weapons is for one of my clients. And as for the ring, bring your sister in tomorrow afternoon with you, and I will have it ready."
Before I could say anything else, he added, "If you are interested in learning how to make them, I could teach you."
I remembered that he asked me the same question before my regression, around the same time. Back then, I had denied any interest, wanting to be a magician like the king of our country. The offer hung in the air, tempting yet daunting. I nodded and replied, "Thank you, Grampa. I'd love to try that."
With this level of weapon-making skill, Grandpa Kaewon was definitely a level 7 blacksmith, and there were fewer than fifty blacksmiths of that caliber in the entire country. Passing up the chance to learn even a small part of his skills would be stupid.
