Worthless Power

The masters

The masters

Jul 24, 2024

Teo said, "In two weeks, I'll kick your ass in an official match, just like I did with your pet."

Sam got up from his chair and grabbed Teo by the shirt. "Who are you calling a pet, you pig?"

Teo stared at him for a moment, then replied, "Haven't you embarrassed yourself enough already?"

Sam pulled his fist back to punch Teo, but Evan interrupted them with a slow clap.

Evan, with a mocking look, said, "Just like I told you, really."

Sam turned to him and asked, "What do you mean?"

Harit chuckled softly and addressed Teo, "So, why don't you challenge me now?" He then turned to Evan and asked, "Why are you provoking him against me?"

Evan raised his hands and waved them side to side, "N-no, you've misunderstood. It seems he's wanted to fight you since he beat Sam."

Harit thought to himself, "Evan, you fool... Don't complicate things!"

"Tyr stood outside the classroom, observing them with his ability, 'his eyes glowing a sky-blue color.'"

Tyr thought, "What exactly is the relationship between Teo and Evan? This is very suspicious... from what I know about Evan, he—"

Luke placed his hand on Tyr's shoulder and greeted him, "Hello."

Tyr jumped, "W-who?! L-Luke?! How are you? I'm fine!!"

Luke scratched his head, "Huh? You put on quite a show last night at the arena..."

Tyr quickly left in front of Luke.

Luke said, "What a weirdo. Hey, Evan!"

Evan grabbed Teo by the hand and said, "Follow me, man."

Teo and Evan stood in front of Luke.

Luke stared at Teo, then turned to Evan and asked, "Is he coming with us?"

Evan replied, "Yes! He's my student from now on!"

Luke stared at Teo again, and Teo returned the glare.

Luke said, "Alright, Neil and Daya are waiting for us. You can bring your friend."

Evan said, "Of course, I'll bring him."

Luke started walking, and Evan and Teo followed him.

Teo whispered to Evan, "Why does he seem so grumpy?"

Evan reassured him, "Don't worry, he's a good guy. He's in the fourth year and is also ranked number one."

Teo, with a look of surprise, said, "Number one?! W-whatever, where are we going?"

Evan replied, "We're going to meet the second and third-ranked students, Neil and Daya, from the third year."

Teo asked, "A-and why the hell are you dragging me along?"

Evan explained, "We meet every two weeks to measure our abilities together. Watching us will be very beneficial for you."

Teo said, "I-I hope so."

Teo remembered seeing Evan's ranking, "Fourth" (S-so now I'll be with the top four students in 'A.M.')

They arrived at the combat hall where Neil and Daya were waiting.

Daya exclaimed, "You finally made it... Oh, it's your friend who won at the arena last night!"

Daya hurried over to Teo and shook his hand, "Welcome, hello! How are you? Nice to meet you!"

Teo scratched his head with his left hand, embarrassed, while Daya vigorously shook his other hand. "Haha, th-thank you."

Neil stood up and faced Teo, looking down at him, trying to intimidate him with his solid and muscular appearance.

Teo thought, "W-why don't I feel well... This guy has a terrifying aura... he must be number two."

Evan placed his hand on Teo's shoulder, "Don't worry, man, he'll just be watching. I want him to learn a thing or two." He then turned towards the door and said, "Hey, Tyr, no need to hide. You're one of the Masters, man. Get rid of that bad habit."

Tyr stepped out from behind the door, walking nervously, "W-what... do you want?"

Daya greeted him, "Tyr! How are you now? How's your injury from your fight with Zack?"

Neil asked, "Is that first-year student joining us too?" He pointed towards Tyr.

Evan said, "No, both of them will be watching." Evan's tone changed to a colder one as he continued, "Especially you, Tyr... and... don't leave after we're done. I want to talk privately."

Tyr shuddered, "O-okay, sir."

Both Tyr and Teo stood outside the ring, watching.

Tyr approached Teo and stood beside him, asking, "What do you know?"

Teo, without turning to him, responded, "What do you mean?"

Tyr asked, "What do you know about Evan that makes him act like this... there's something fishy."

Teo replied, "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Tyr questioned, "Is it true that you stopped the attacker and saved Janet?"

Teo said, "Seems like it. Now enough chatter, I want to focus."

Teo walked a few steps away from Tyr.

Evan said, "I'm ready whenever you guys are."

Luke responded, "Me too."

Neil asked, "Daya, are you done?"

Daya finished tying her shoes and said, "Daya is ready!"

Luke surrounded himself with a dark red aura, Evan with a dark yellow aura, Neil with a blue aura, and Daya with a purple aura.

Evan commanded, "Go!"

The four of them launched at the same time, with Luke and Evan clashing before Neil and Daya even reached the center of the arena. Their auras merged from the clash, causing an explosion between them.

Tyr, watching the battle with his ability, thought, "T-that attack just now... they're monsters."

Daya jumped behind Luke, saying, "Going straight for Evan without paying attention to us is bad!"

She kicked Luke hard with her right leg, then enhanced her aura in her left leg and tried to kick his thigh. Luke turned to her and raised his leg, blocking her kick with his knee.

Daya thought, "It felt like kicking a mountain."

Daya retreated with short jumps.

"Meanwhile, Evan faced off against Neil."

Evan said, "Now, show me how far the guy with the strongest punch in 'A.M.' has come."

Neil smiled and replied, "We all know you're the one with the strongest punch, haha, but alright, I'll show you what I've got!"

Neil's blue aura intensified, turning into a darker shade of blue. He then assumed a boxer's stance, drawing back his shoulder and twisting his hips with great force, thrusting his fist towards Evan. Evan raised his hands and blocked Neil's punch with his wrists, producing a "collision sound." Neil's aura merged with Evan's, causing an explosion that pushed Evan back.

Evan said, "You've really improved."

Tyr was astonished by Neil's punch, his eyes glowing with a sky-blue light, "A punch like that could destroy an enTyre building... Evan acts like he didn't take any damage; this might come in handy later!"

Evan rotated his arms in a circular motion, saying, "It seems you left a bruise on my arm. Let's call it a day."

Neil put his hand on his head and said, "I-I didn't expect it would leave a mark on you! Sorry about that."

Daya, with a frown, said, "B-but I'm not done with Luke yet!"

Luke responded, "This fight could go on forever. You can't hurt me, and I can barely touch you."

Teo stood there, stunned, thinking, "T-these are the Masters... he looked at Tyr... No, they're on a whole different level... even that punk's eyes would pop out."

Evan stood beside Teo, placing his hand on Teo's shoulder, and asked, "What do you think? Do you think you can keep up with us?"

Teo brushed Evan's hand off and said, "Don't mock me... That was amazing, but I don't understand why you brought me here to watch this (all I felt was discouraged)."

Luke said, "Alright, I'm leaving now. See you later, guys."

Daya waved her hands high, "Goodbye, Luke! Alright, I should go too; I have a lot of homework."

Neil said, "I'm leaving too, goodbye."

Neil and Daya both left.

Evan said, "Now it's just the three of us." He then put Tyr under his arm, "Now, excuse us, Teo, but we need to talk privately. You can wait for me outside."

Teo said, "This seems suspicious... Okay, I'll wait for you."

Teo left the hall.

Evan took a few steps away from Tyr.

Evan said, "I've heard a lot of stories."

Tyr, startled, said, "E-excuse me?"

Evan continued, "A lot of stories about people who know more than they should, putting their lives at risk... revealing their knowledge and those secrets might... ruin their lives. And sometimes..."

Evan turned to Tyr and began walking towards him, getting closer, "Sometimes we call those who can keep their mouths shut... smart. And you don't seem stupid at all, do you?"

Tyr looked confused, "What are you...?"

Evan placed his hand on Tyr's mouth and got close to his face, saying, "Let me tell you about the last person who let some words slip about me... don't worry, he's fine now, standing in front of me in one piece."

Evan pressed on Tyr's face firmly and continued, "Do you know why?"

Evan removed his hand from Tyr's face, "Because he didn't open his mouth afterward. So, be a good and obedient boy, and don't say a word about me to Teo. Oh, by the way, don't disclose his ability to anyone either. You surely know why privacy is called privacy."

Tyr, trembling, said, "A-are you threatening me?... But don't worry, I have no intention of exposing anything about you."

Evan gave Tyr a light pat on the shoulder, "Don't be so tense, man, relax." He chuckled, "I was just joking with you. Now, let's go."

Evan left the hall, leaving Tyr alone.

Tyr sighed and exhaled heavily, putting his right hand on his face, "It seems I'll be getting into a lot of trouble later on."
