The soldier takes with her guild Maria to look around the broken buildings, the ruined house, and the abandoned factory. In every place full of dust or rats. Maria allows Sasha to wait outside of the building. Sasha is scared of rats. Maria didn't mind that at all. Maria notes it in her notebook.

Maria worries about many things from the environment, that may affect them a lot, especially pestilence from dirty and sleeping places for soldiers. She had expected bout this before but her battalion needed a lot of cleanness to work well. The infection isn't a small thing even if there are doctors.  But if they know about it too late; it might infect a lot of people already. From examining the area she understood that hygiene would be the stuff that she should worry about. Maria thinks while walking following the soldier who guides her around and explains the city plan.

Until they walk near the warzone. The gunfire and screaming of the soldier's sound are louder nonstop. Sasha passed around her sometimes but she couldn't help to scare. Mostly Sasha's job is only to find a piece of news and do the documents for Maria. So she was never used to it every time she walked near the warzone. Maria glances at scared Sasha and sighs out a little bit, while sending a signal by her eyes to walk near her, Sasha speeds up her feet to walk near Maria.

Maria looks around at the soldier who is fighting. This place is full of ruin making it difficult to walk. Not too long before they walk around there. The madness of yelling in Russian suddenly loud from the war field, calls every soldier's attention there even Maria who looks at that sound with curious and annoyed looks that something disturbs her work time. The middle-aged man in a soldier uniform panicked ran from the warzone, pulled another soldier's shirt and spoke nonsense Russian.

"Do we should stop him?" Sasha asks.

"I think-"

"they're monsters. They aren't human anymore?!" The panicking soldier yells.

"What are you talking about?" The soldier who panicked pulls the shirt and asks confusingly.

"Are you not hear me? I see...I see A Walking German corpse with black blood. That guy is freaking insane. I shot him a lot of bullets but he isn't dead... like he's a corpse that can walk?! when I have thrown a bomb at him. He still can walk even though his body is almost gone then he falls with the black blood overflow everywhere and fucking stinks. look at my shirt?! The blood in full of my shirt!" The panicked soldier shouts at another soldier.

"Are you out of your mind?! there's nothing"The angry soldier tries to push the panicked soldier away. but that soldier speaking more nonsense and yelling out loud, making soldiers around there go to help him.

The chaotic situation ended with the gunfire of NKVD officers running toward them and shouting out loud to make everyone stop, and then drag the panicked soldier away. he yells warning everyone to run away. he will be charged for making the fear in the soldier group and will be sentenced to death. when the chaos has ended, Maria still looks at him with widened eyes and furrowed eyebrows. until Sasha poke Maria's shoulder with worried eyes.

"Are you alright, Maria Olegovna?" Sasha asks

"I.. I'm fine. let's go"

Time skip

"Thank you for guiding us around here" Maria says to the soldier before walking away.

"Are we going to go now?"Sasha asks.

"not yet, I still have something to do" Maria says while walking past the medical camp and then grabbing something from the table.

"What is it? we didn't have any more appointments" Sasha opened her notebook to check today's schedule.

"I have just a bit suspect of that mad soldier. I want to see if he told the truth" Maria keeps her notebook in her pocket.

"He may have hallucinations. Were you confident that he telling the truth?" Sasha furrows her eyebrows, opens the car door and sits inside.

"I've been curious about it for a while even though I didn't see it with my own eyes. but I hear the news about the German soldier who got shot by many many bullets but isn't dead. recently, I heard from Private Gregory that he found one that he threw a bomb at them, and their waist had a big hole in it but they could still walk with that for more than 10 minutes before falling. he was scared so he ran away before the bomb dropped there. so that time I can't verify it but this time we may verify it"Maria gets into the car.

"That's a scary topic" Sasha started the car

"Yes, if it's true, it will be a big deal. Can you imagine if there was someone the same as me in the enemy army? how much damage that might happen?" Maria speaks in a serious tone.

"but how did you going to get that mad soldier out? didn't you hate NKVD? And they hate you too"Sasha slowly reverses the car and gets out of the car parking lot

 "sigh Sasha, sometimes we can't avoid the thing that we hate for our entire life" Maria gave out a big sigh. The harsh voice immediately turns to a fragile voice.

"But last time you punched him" Sasha turned her head to look at Maria with furrowed eyebrows

"He was lucky that his nose wasn't broken" Maria's sarcasm.

"Maria!"Sasha slams her voice.

"I know. I know. I'm just...angry that anything I do gets interrupted" Maria holds the bridge of her nose and looks away to the window.

"But I still have to try to talk to them anyway" Maria slowly shaking her head.

"..." "Okay" Sasha looks at Maria with worried eyes then looks back at the road.

The car follows the rough road to the better road. It doesn't take a lot of time to get to a 1-floor building. it's a small prison for imprisoning prisoners for a short period. prisoner charged with desertion or a serious matter will be imprisoned here short period before being sent to another place and then to the military court. the person who works in this part is NKVD.

"wait here" Maria spoke before getting out of the car and walking into the building. An unglad coincident thing that Maria meet a similar face.

"Pavel?" Maria raises her furrowed eyebrows

"You call me like we're 'close'. ew"The dark-blonde man stared at Maria with unsatisfied blue eyes.

"I don't respect you that's why I call you that"Maria crossed her are over her chest upset

"fine, whatever, Maria. why do you come here?" Pavel stood up from the chair, crossed his arm over his chest lean on the wall, to parody Maria.

"I want that mad soldier who spoke about the walking German corpse. That's why I'm here to take him with me not too long and will return him to you."Maria speak. her eyes stare at him

"Yeah, he's here but I think I can't do that"Pavel spread his arm out and smirked mockingly.

"You making my work more difficult" Maria rolled her eyes

 "It's your problem, not mine. and I don't want to-" Pavel didn't finish his sentence. he got smashed by something on his face, making Pavel fall on the floor in shock.

"Don't overreact. I didn't break your nose this time"Maria looks at Pavel that is on the floor with a small smile on her face. Pavel flustered collected and counted the money.

"Hmm...I understand your words now. take it, and take him back here in 1 hour. there will have a doctor check the prisoner here"Pavel threw the keys at Maria before standing up and cleaning the dust out of his cloth

Maria walked into the prison zone to find that soldier from room to room but she found one prison room which had a shivering middle-aged man hugging his knees. Maria knocks on the cell.

"Hey, come here" Maria speak more gentler tone than when talking with Pavel. The middle-aged man glances at Maria with tired eyes, there are bruises all over his body that might be from his struggle.

"I want to verify whether what you told everyone is true or not. if it is true I will help you get released from the accusation. you can run away after this, it's your choice. Do you agree?" Maria speaks with a serious face.

"Are you going to help me?" that man suddenly leaps to hold onto the cell.

"Yes, I will help you. but if you try to escape. I do not hesitate to shoot too" Maria looks into his eyes to make him trust her.

The man nods his head. Maria walked to open the cage then he slowly walked out of the door. Maria guides the man to the car, opens the car to make him sit in the back seat and Maria goes to sit in the front seat, before asking Sasha to drive to the military barrack again. the prisoner sits in silence all the way. Sasha stopped the car further from the barrack. It might look good if the people see Maria walking around with the prisoner.

"Assistant Sashs follow me" Maria speak before getting out of the car and taking the prisoner out of the car.

"Yes, Maria Olegovna" Sasha got out of the car as Maria ordered.

"lead the ways" Maria speaks.

The prisoner didn't have to show any resistance only lead the way in silence. That man led the way into the warzone but it more calmer now. Sasha walks more closely to Maria. Maria looked around. they might have a chance that the enemy will come out of nowhere from ambush. three of them walk to the ruined building. there's a big pothole with black stains, that happened from the bomb. the prisoner slowly points at that pothole with a shaking hand before looking away to the wall. Maria crouches down and looks inside and is shocked.

In front of Maria is the German soldier's corpse which has been bombed and some part is gone. A lot of black blood flowed out of the corpse until it became a puddle that gave a stinking smell diffused all over the place. Maria noticed a strange smell inside. it's the smell that shouldn't be in the living thing. strangely, it's so similar smell to Maria. The ozone smell. Maria didn't want to believe in her nose. Maria slowly takes off her glove and uses her finger to dip inside the black blood and take it out to observe its features. It looks condensed and glossed it looks strangely like quicksilver. Maria shook it off before getting up and wearing the glove.

"Assistant Sasha please contact a person to urgently carry this corpse to investigate it. before this corpse was destroyed. told them specifically that this isn't a normal corpse and to send this corpse to the next train go to that city and contact my father I was going to see him and wanted him to investigate it thoroughly. go take care of it now. I will drive a car and return this prisoner by myself" Maria with a serious face ordered Sasha.

"Yes, Maria Olegovna" Sasha rushly walked away.

"and you" Maria turns head to the prisoner who stood shivering. Maria holds his arm and injects something inside his arm. he flinches yelling, but Maria holds his arm tight.

"calm down, I'm not going to kill you. I'm just injecting the morphine inside you" Maria calmly explain, making the man more calm.

"Listen, I want you to make this thing never happen. you just have to say that you are panicking with the bomb, then you take morphine out to inject into yourself but you forget to check that you injected too much morphine so it makes you morphine intoxicated. the doctor will check if you tell the truth and then will release you" Maria spoke in a gentle voice. the prisoner only nods. Maria put the evidence in his pocket.

"Thank you for not trying to escape and making this thing more difficult. this information is really useful. I will carefully take you back" Maria finished speaking. She takes him back to the car.

Maria drives the car back to the prison takes him back in the cell, and then takes the key back to Pavel.

"I expect you to throw it in my face" Pavel spoke with ridiculous looks.

"Well, I'm too tired to argue with you more" Maria stared at Pavel. Pavel going to say something, but the doctor walks past them to the prison zone first.

"on time. if you are too slow, I'm going to say that you help the prisoner escape" Pavel gave out a small laughing

"sigh you are good at getting on at nerves" Maria gives Pavel a tired eye back.

"I will take that as a compliment" Pavel smiles mocking Maria

"You should be happy that today I didn't have the strength to punch your face harder until your nose broke" Maria made an unsatisfied face and crossed her arm over her chest.

"I guess today is my lucky day" Pavel laugh satisfying

"I hear the news about you getting more money if you catch a soldier who breaks the law and takes them to the military court per person right?" Maria appears with a small smile on her face.

"Yes and?" avel furrows his eyebrows staring at Maria.

"You just lost the money you can get from 1 person" Maria smiled widely.

Pavel thinks about Maria's words in a short time leaps from the seat and rashly walks to the cell to ask the doctor what happened to that prisoner before Pavel glances at the wound on the prisoner's arm. and then look at the used morphine evidence. it's a snap to his temper immediately before rashly walks back and pulls Maria's shirt with furious.

"Maria! you!"Pavel yelled at Maria in a silent demeanour.

"why are you upset? you already got my money or the money you will get per person is a lot more than my money huh?" Maria mocks Pavel.

"or you going to be crying-baby go complain to your boss, and I going to say that you're the one that let me do that. then you would get kicked out of your job, and more than that, you would get charged for ignoring your job and released the prisoner. Pavel, you aren't that stupid to make yourself end up like that right?" Maria speaks with a wide smile. Pavel slowly unwilling to release his hand.

"After I saw your face now. today is getting so much better now. Have a good day, Pavel" Maria blesses Pavel before blushing on the shirt area which Pavel pulled. then walk out of the building followed by the shouting sound of Pavel that she can't catch any sense from. Maria acted like she didn't hear it, thinking it was just a barking dog sound.

Maria drives the car back to pick up Sasha who is waiting for her. they switch the seats. Sasha will drive the car and Maria will sit beside her. Sasha notices a small smile on Maria and looks at Maria with tired eyes.

"What did you do to Pavel?"Saha directly asks Maria.

"Nothing" Maria looks back to Sasha who is unsatisfied with that answer.

"oh, come on. I didn't break his nose and punch him" Maria stared at Sasha's eyes.

"I believe you"Sasha looks back to the road before driving the car off.

 "where is my ushanka?" Maria asks.

"Here, Maria Olegovna. I prepare news and find the thing that you ordered me to investigate" Sasha answers while handing the file and Maria's ushanka to Maria.

"good" Maria wears the ushanka and puts the file inside her bag.

"Drop me at the train station and return this car. after that, you can rest. I will do the rest. I will visit my dad in Igarsk City for 1-2 nights to wait for the result. I will be back as soon as possible" Maria ordered Sasha.

"Yes, Maria Olegovna" Sasha answers.

Maria's face is getting more and more stressed. Her mind is full of worries about What would happen. How's it impossible that someone likes her on the enemy side? information leak? is there a spy? or can they invent it? If this gets verified as true. that's mean.

The Soviet Union might be in trouble.
