The sun cast its golden rays over Soren Mountain as my sister Luna, our house butler Hideo (a level 4 fire mage), a few guards, and I traveled up the winding path in our horse-drawn carriage to collect a new batch of herbs. After twenty minutes, we reached the top where our gardener and a few adventurers awaited our arrival.
As we checked the goods, something unusual caught my eye. A stack of yellow grass lay strewn across the ground. Curious, I knelt down and inspected it closely.
My heart skipped a beat as I recognized the distinct texture and color of the grass—it was known as Eclipsia Herb in the future. This wasn't just any plant; it was the rare herb used to cure the Black Death, a deadly disease that had plagued our world for over a decade, mainly affecting beastfolk.
I knew about this grass because I had assassinated the creator of the drug fifteen years from now and learned the recipe—not the best way to gain invaluable knowledge, but it worked. Now, with these herbs in hand, I had the key ingredient to produce the cure and earn a fortune.
I turned to the gardener, Grenard, and asked him, "What do you know about this yellow grass?"
He replied, "Young lord, this grass is useless to us, so we use it to feed our bull horses."
That confirmed my suspicion that no one knew about its properties. "Gardener Grenard, pack this grass with the herbs, and if you have any more of this yellow grass, send it to my house. Butler Hideo will take care of the expenses."
Though curious and hesitant, Grenard agreed to my request. As we made our way back down the mountain, my sister turned to me and asked, "Why did you buy that grass?"
"I wish to learn alchemy from Mother, and I think I can use it," I replied.
A gloomy expression enveloped her face. "Then you won't have any time for me and will ignore me," she said softly.
I paused, feeling the change in my personality from shy kid to authoritative. "Luna, I will never ignore you. Learning alchemy is important, but I will make some time for my cute little sister. I promise."
She pouted slightly, crossing her arms. "You better keep that promise, or I'll be really mad."
I smiled and ruffled her hair gently. "I know, Luna. And I promise, I'll always make time for you."
She moved back in shock. "You can't ruffle my hair; only I can do that, as I am older than you. Understood?"
She seemed to take comfort in my words, but I could see the lingering doubt in her eyes. As the carriage continued its descent, I thought, I will if the damn world doesn't descend a calamity this time around on me.
Discovering the Eclipsia Herb was a significant breakthrough for me. It would not only aid in helping my sister develop her second skill, which requires substantial investment, but also allow me to gather enough funds for my academic courses and, this time, even for my sister.
