Chapter 17.

Fake.

The nurse who was caring for Susan while she was sedated, had changed the diapers she was wearing as usual, because she would be sedated for an entire month and was not aware of when her body needed to relieve itself.

 Mati, which was the nurse's name, had finished her shift and she didn't have to do anything else for the moment, just check that the girl was still sedated and prevent her from staining and burning herself with her urine or feces… the room remained dark and locked and only Garrett Manson and Mati could enter there, the rest of the staff were not allowed to even approach the door of the room, and that prohibition was more like a threat than a warning.

In his office, Garrett looked at an accounting book where the record of debtors was kept and with a telephone that could not be traced he dialed the number of each one of those who were on that list. Those who answered asked for a little more time to pay their debts and since the deadline in which they had borrowed the money was not that distant, they were given around 15 additional days to do so, but the figures for those debts were very low compared to those of Susan, who It was the only large debt that had earned a lot of interest over the years, which Ricky had almost never made even a small deposit to try to pay. The truth is that he did feel briefly at that moment, a little sorry for the situation of the woman who was upstairs, but it was more than hatred, because if his father was a coward who used death as an escape, she would be his guarantee for get the money at any price, but he didn't know why her stubborn attitude bothered him so much, she definitely had to be mentally ill to have jumped into a moving car, however, there was something that moved the man a  little emotions and it was the courage that she had had to defend herself with a pen, which clearly indicated that this would not be the first time that she would try to get rid of him, since apparently it was a little box of surprises that awaited her and was in no rush to discover each of those surprises that the girl thought of revealing, because somehow he would find a way to subdue each of her madness.

Victor had told him about the girl's mute condition, however, apparently the story that Victor told him was a little altered, since he had told him that she had been attacked by a pair of thieves who had tried to abuse her dark night while she was returning home one day, and that was why her vocal cords were seriously injured, but with time and a good recovery she would speak again, so for a second Manson wondered what her voice was like. Well, it was clear to him, that  he had heard previously had been frightening, not to say horrifying, but now he understood a little more that a pig-in-the-slaughterhouse sound that she had made, was not due to a failed attempt to speak, but rather an attempt to force her voice to come out...so, ¿what extent would she be willing to break her body to try? Just thinking about that made her feel a bittersweet taste in her mouth, maybe she should try something new against her body, because if she had been saved from being abused by thieves that night, being at their mercy, sedated upstairs, made the Garrett's expectations high, so high that he could almost taste her pain.
