Not wanting to make things worse, Jax went to Micah's house that night. By the time he arrived there, there were already 32 missed calls from Micah. Jax answered the 33rd call.
"I'm here," he said right away. He then dropped the call.
Micah opened the door and Jax let himself in. The two sat across each other in the living room. Micah had his arms and legs crossed while looking at Jax who had his eyes glued to the floor.
"Jax," Micah began.
Jax replied with a quiet yes.
"Look at me, Jax. You know that I don't like it when I talk to someone who's not focused."
Jax reluctantly looked at Micah's eyes. "Sorry."
"Sorry for what?"
"For not being focused."
Micah snorted. "Is that all you're sorry for? How about anything else?"
Jax gave him a confused look. In all honesty, he had no idea what he had to be sorry for aside from being unfocused in the beginning. Then it struck him.
"I'm sorry for not answering your calls, too," Jax said.
"That's it? I don't care about those things, Jax. There's something more pressing that you have to apologize for."
Micah paused for a few seconds, giving Jax to think. However, it annoyed him to see how Jax didn't know at all. It somehow gave the message that Jax didn't care about it.
"Why did you go to Sebastian's house?" Micah asked.
"I just wanted to blow some steam off. He's my friend after all."
"Blow some steam off?" Micah smirked. "Are you sure you didn't blow anything else in his house?"
Jax frowned. "Micah, we're not like that."
"Then why did you go with him? I was there, Jax. And as a couple we're supposed to always be together. If there were other people who saw you, what would they think? Our fan service will be over. Haven't you thought about that?"
Looking at Micah's angry face, Jax felt sad. He was only angry because he was afraid that his career would be affected.
"No one saw us, Micah. And couples sometimes fight and they go to their friends for some advice. There's nothing wrong even if someone saw us," Jax explained.
"Fine. Maybe we're having the lovers' quarrel right now. But that doesn't mean you go and flirt with another man."
"I wasn't flirting with him. I told you that when couples fight, they go to their friends for some advice. So I went to Sebastian just to talk things out with him."
"But why Sebastian? You know he likes you. Don't you have other friends?"
"Just before we left, you told me to take some time away from each other. Then Sebastian offered to drive me. I was going to refuse him at first but you came into the picture. I wanted to follow through with your message so I had to accept Sebastian's offer. That's it. Nothing else. If it had been anyone else, I would've accepted the offer as well. I know that you don't like it when people don't follow through."
Micah's expression changed into something much worse. He moved his head close to Jax's face.
"So any man would've been okay?"
Jax was about to retort, but Micah shushed him. As Micah talked more, his voice was soft but also scary.
"Shh." Micah put a finger on Jax's lips. "Let me just remind you that you're only where you are right now because of me. It seems that you're forgetting your place just because I've been acting out my part in our fan service. You're not that special, Jax. I can do this with any man as well."
I shouldn't be in love with this man, Jax thought.
"I'm sorry." That's all Jax could say to those heartbreaking words.
After that, Micah reminded him about the contract. They went through things and from that moment onwards, Jax promised to take things as just part of a job. It was his fault for getting carried away.
Although Jax promised himself not to hold onto his feelings, it was still painful to let them go. That night, he cried himself to sleep. So when he went to the filming site the following day, the makeup team had to do their best to cover up the swelling in Jax's eyes.
"All done," the staff said.
Jax muttered a soft thank you and went to the pool area. The cameras were ready and they were going to start shooting in five minutes. The weather was cooperative unlike yesterday.
The director walked towards Jax. "Hey, Jax."
"Hello, Ms. Wincelet," Jax greeted back.
"I know that we have specified lines for this scene. But while thinking about it last night, I realized that it's better if the lines are spontaneous. Can I ask you to just do adlibs in this scene?"
"That's fine with me, Ms. But what about Micah and Sebastian?"
"I already told them about it. Just deliver lines that are fitting for this scene, okay?"
Jax nodded in response. He decided to just go with the flow. He didn't have the energy to plan anything. Anyway, Micah always took over scenes that required them to be spontaneous.
The three were in their position and the director yelled, "Action!"
"How many times do I have to tell you that we're over?" Micah told Jax.
"Elijah, I'm sorry. Is it because I'm too overbearing? I promise I'll change," Jax responded.
That was Jax's memorized line.
"Do I have to say this again, Aiden? I just don't feel the same way towards you anymore. Maybe I never felt that way towards you at all. I was just pressured because you suddenly confessed to me. I didn't want to throw away our friendship, so I said yes. That's it. Nothing else."
It was at this time that Jax really became his character, Aiden. It hit close to his own situation.
"Nothing at all?" Jax asked.
"Yes, nothing."
"Can't you just lie then?" Jax begged.
"Why in the world would I lie, Aiden?"
"I don't care if it's a lie. Just let me hear your I love you."
Micah snorted. "Aiden, you know why I'm breaking up with you."
"Is it because of Lucas?"
"You already know the answer to that. So let's just end things."
Micah and Jax looked at each other in the eyes. Jax had tears threatening to race out of his eyes anytime soon. Micah felt a tug in his heart.
Jax pursed his lips then said, "Okay. Let's end things. But before we break up, can you give me a month? Just one month with you and I'll let you go."
Micah sighed. "Fine. Just one month and we'll end things."
Jax nodded his head. Micah's phone rang. He answered it with a smile, knowing that it was Lucas. He walked out of the frame while Jax remained standing. The director cued for Sebastian to enter.
"Hey, Aiden! What are you doing he- Are you okay?" Sebastian asked.
Jax looked at Sebastian and smiled while the tears streamed down his face. "I just got some dust in my eyes."
Sebastian pulled Jax into a hug. Like any other person who didn't feel okay and was suddenly hugged, Jax started sobbing.
"You were right, Liam. He doesn't love me," Jax said.
Sebastian carressed Jax's back. "I'm still here. I'm always here for you," he said softly.
Jax's sobs were really loud and painful that some staff felt emotionally invested.
Micah, who was looking at the scene playing out in front of him, frowned. He didn't like seeing Jax cry.
Jax, Micah, and Sebastian are the trending names in Thailand for starring in the most popular BL series of the year. Jax plays the protagonist, Micah the possessive top, and Sebastian the one who drives the love triangle.
All is well for the three who have been in the BL industry for a few years and have only gotten a break now. But things start to take a turn when the plot in their series slowly begins to become the plot of their lives.
