The next day at school is a blur of whispers and sidelong glances. News of Jae-hoon's fight with Sung-min has spread like wildfire, transforming him overnight from the quiet new kid to a figure of both fear and admiration.
Min-seo avoids him, leaving Jae-hoon to navigate the day alone. Even Jin-ho keeps his distance, clearly unsure where he stands in the shifting social landscape.
As Jae-hoon leaves his last class, a hand grabs his arm, pulling him into an empty classroom. It's Yoo-jin, a quiet girl he recognizes from his literature class.
"I need your help," she says urgently, her eyes darting nervously to the door. "It's about Sung-min and his gang. They're involved in something... something bad."
Jae-hoon's interest piques. "What do you mean?"
Yoo-jin hesitates, then pulls out her phone, showing him a blurry photo. It's dark, but Jae-hoon can make out Sung-min and several others in what looks like an abandoned building. They're exchanging something – money? Drugs?
"I stumbled across this when I was working on a photography project," Yoo-jin explains. "I think they're dealing drugs, maybe worse. And it's not just at our school. They're supplying other schools too."
Jae-hoon's mind races. This could be the key to exposing the corruption he came here to fight. But it's also incredibly dangerous.
"Why are you showing me this?" he asks.
Yoo-jin meets his gaze steadily. "Because you're the only one who's stood up to them. Please, Jae-hoon. We need your help."
Before he can respond, the classroom door bursts open. Tae-jun and two other members of Sung-min's gang storm in.
"Well, well," Tae-jun sneers. "Look what we have here. A little rat and her new protector."
Jae-hoon pushes Yoo-jin behind him, his body tensing for a fight. But Tae-jun just grins.
"Not here, tough guy. Boss wants to see you. Both of you." He nods to his companions. "Bring them."
As they're roughly escorted out of the school, Jae-hoon's mind whirls. He needs to find a way out of this, to protect Yoo-jin and get word to Min-seo. But as they're shoved into a waiting car, he realizes with a sinking feeling that he might be in over his head.
The car speeds through Seoul's streets, eventually pulling up to a dilapidated warehouse on the outskirts of the city. Jae-hoon's stomach churns as he recognizes it from Yoo-jin's photo.
Inside, they're led to a dimly lit room. Sung-min sits behind a desk, his face still bruised from their fight. But it's the man standing next to him that sends a chill down Jae-hoon's spine.
He recognizes him from his father's business parties. Park Sung-ho, a powerful businessman with rumored ties to organized crime.
"Hello, Jae-hoon," Park says smoothly. "I believe it's time we had a chat about your future at Hanseong Elite."
Jae-hoon's fists clench at his sides. He's just stumbled into something much bigger – and much more dangerous – than he ever imagined.
