It has been a few hours now and the party downstairs seems to be wrapping up. The soft music can no longer be heard, and I was just finished reading the last sentences of the last chapter when I looked over at the clock which read 12:53 pm. Great. I only have 7 minutes to get to bed or I have to wait until 1:05 or 1:15. Why do I have to wait that long?
…
Well, I look over at my bed, and to my disappointment, my sister still lying there. She is facing the wall so I can't see if she’s awake or not. I can just smack her with a pillow to get her out of my bed. Maybe I’ll just flip my mattress, and give her a more abrupt awakening like she deserves. Never mind actually, I can’t flip my mattress, I struggle enough to pick up a gallon of milk. I guess I’ll just leave her there to sleep and I’ll find elsewhere to sleep. I grab the spare blanket and make my way down the hallway. The house is rather dark and I have trouble making my way to the rarely used family room without bumping into things, but I don’t bother turning the lights on as it bothers my father a bit. I make it to the family room and plop myself onto the loveseat and make myself comfortable.
I start to drift off to sleep when I notice that not one but TWO windows in the room are open. I get up and bitterly close the curtains. I don’t know how anyone could sleep in a room with windows open. Or closets, or any doors for that matter. I settle back into my past position in the loveseat. I begin to drift off again, trying to keep my mind off my annoyance. Did I actually close the curtains? I sit up in my spot and look over at my window. They seem to be closed. I settle back into a more comfortable position… again. I close my eyes, hoping to get at least a couple of hours of sleep. I want to be awake for school tomorrow. Okay, but what if I didn’t ACTUALLY see the curtain closed? I sit up again and look at the curtains. Yep. They are closed. Checking for the third time satisfies me and I finally settle back down. I glance at the clock just to check the time.
1:13
Okay well, staying up for two more minutes feels like the best option in my opinion, so that's what I’ll do.
