Chapter 8.
Nightmare.
Cassie had covered her body with a sheet; and looking out one of the windows she could see that there was indeed a great commotion outside and there were many corpses everywhere, so the body of the maid who had previously died while she was bathing, would go unnoticed among these new bodies that were beginning to add up as the minutes passed, no matter the reason why these men were dying, she was grateful that this man had not taken her for the moment, however, Muriel was seeing her biggest lie crumble, because in front of him was a Beast, the Beast that had tormented the town and had practically forced him to hide in that town, the same Beast that he boasted of keeping at bay was attacking his property and although he had many slaves, maids and servants everywhere and his property was spacious enough to create a separate community, the losses generated due to this fierce attack, it was not the same as a slave, a strong and tall man plowing the land; or that a maid or a servant did it knowing that her body is not designed for that type of work…
A maid approached desperately and told Muriel that the Beast had entered the baths and had attacked one of the main servants of the property, because she was in a pool of blood and her face was totally disfigured, the man only snorted a little and told her to bring him a crossbow, quickly the maid ran to her boss's office and grabbed the first thing she thought could be a crossbow, because she did not know any type of weapon and had simply taken a weapon that worked with lead and that had not been tested before, when the man gave it to her, he told her: you can't be more useless because you were not born twice, this has not even been tested, get out of here… the maid ran away desperately and Muriel, when trying to start using that weapon, simply failed, because the power with which the pellet came out was something he did not calculated and then fell on her back at the first shot, however, this didn't even hit the Beast, which entered the property breaking everything in its path... it seemed like it was looking for something, as it was entering from room to room and room to room leaving trails of blood and human bodies in its path, fortunately, Cassie had hidden in a small panic room that was behind a painting in the room where she was; and a maid, who had come previously, had shown her how to hide in that place to stay safe.
The girl was terrified and clung to the sheets intensely on the floor of the panic room, when suddenly she heard the door to the main room open and the furniture began to break and the rumble of the wood on the floor echoed in her ears, it was a totally new experience for her, she didn't even know how to define what she was feeling, it was something like panic and adrenaline at the same time wanting them not to discover where she was, and at the same time, the intrigue of ¿what would happen if they discovered her? ¿Would she die there? it was the question that was running through her head, being so, she was already prepared to accept her fate and die with at least some dignity by not having to live within this constant nightmare that her new life had become...
