Chapter 9.
Warning.
Her heart was beating a thousand miles an hour, because outside she heard a growl that made her skin crawl and felt a shiver run down her spine, her heart was about to jump out of her chest and she wanted to scream as loud as possible, but she didn't want to be discovered either, that kept her on that fine line between panic and adrenaline until she heard a totally horrible and dark and above all deep voice mention her name: CASSIEEE... she peed on herself from the fright... and it was no wonder, and the voice could be interpreted as something from beyond the grave, ¿Could it be that death was already knocking on her door?¿ But why was it calling her with that terrifying voice? ¿Couldn't she at least have a sweet and delicate voice so as not to scare her so much?...
The girl gathered herself up until she hugged herself within those sheets and curled up with her knees to her chest, the fear of dying was invading her, until suddenly a deep silence was heard. The only thing she could hear, that sound of silence that she never wants to hear, threatened and tempted her to leave the room, however, she decided to wait for the maid who had hidden her in that panic room to come back for her or at least for Muriel to open the door for her, anything would be better than death opening that door; tears came out of her eyes wetting the sheet while her body trembled violently because of that terrifying fear that dominated her, fear that practically seeped into her bones, she could already visualize herself as the ghost that appeared in this place and she even imagined that in the future fantasy stories and legends would be created about the woman who tormented an entire town with her tears, especially because in this property her life could not be a little simpler.
It wasn’t until she felt the door to the panic room opening and light flooding in, that she squeezed her eyes shut and felt a hand grab her ankle… the moment the hand made contact with her skin, the girl jumped in terror and screamed without opening her eyes, trying to kick with her other leg and saying: Death, I don’t want to see you today, come back tomorrow looking less scary, I don’t want to die today, come for me another day, but not right now… then, a feminine laugh was heard and suddenly the voice of the maid followed, telling her: Miss, I am not Death, I have only come for you to get you out of this place, because everything is back to normal now. The girl uncovered her face, opened her eyes, and when she saw the woman in front of her, she did nothing but hug her, and taking her by the shoulders she said: thank God you are alive, I thought for a moment that it was death knocking at my door, the maid told her that her name was Esther and that she should leave the panic room and get dressed, because Mr. Muriel would be busy for a while and until then she had to stay healthy to wait for him.
The girl nodded and left that room, the maid left her a medium-sized vessel with warm water so that she could clean the tears and dried blood stains that she had on her face and the rest of her body, she also left her new clothes and brought her a mint infusion so that her nerves would calm down a little, Cassie could not be more grateful for the good attention that Esther was giving her, perhaps that girl was the only attentive and kind-hearted person that she could find on this property…
