Henry: yeah it’s very odd that she is going to her grandma’s house so suddenly
Liam: she told me that her grandma was really sick, and I think she is doing great going after her grandma and after all one has to look after their family.
Henry: you're right you and me are an only child but Ava’s got a big family. I mean she has 2 little siblings … (sighs) … it was so fun when we used to play together when we were little.
Liam: you two know each other since elementary school. Right?
Henry: not only elementary school even before that. My mom was a single mother she moved here because she wanted me to grow up in healthy environment. And Ava’s family helped us a lot so eventually Ava and I became best friends. We went to the same kindergarten and elementary school but her parents wanted her to have a good education so they put her in an elite middle school but she didn’t fit in there so she attended same high school as me. You don’t know how much I realized in those 3 years of middle school that how dependent I was on Ava. I felt a little alone.
Liam: alone? You met me you know
Henry laughed and said: yeah you are special too.
They reached the café and waited there for Ava. She arrived, she was all dressed as if she had to sit on the airplane right after this meeting, and she was also in a hurry.
Ava: sorry guys I kept you two waiting. I just wanted to meet you two before I left the city.
Henry: is your grandma okay?
Ava: yeah she’s fine … for now … but doctors are not sure yet. They called us last night and my family is very worried.
Henry: its okay she’s your grandma she deserves to see her grandchildren.
Liam (jokingly): even if it is for one last time
Henry: Liam don’t talk like that
Henry scolded Liam. Ava was too much focused on other important things so she didn’t reply to Liam’s lame jokes.
Ava: one more thing guys. I won’t be able to contact either of you while I’m at my grandma’s because there is no reception there; her house is literally in the middle of the woods.
Liam: don’t worry you can send us letters
Henry: Liam stop it!
Liam: what did I say wrong?
Ava: you can never let go of those lame jokes. Can you?
Liam (smiled): around you? Never
Ava looks at her phone she sees that her mom is calling; she stands up, she says goodbye to Liam and tells Henry to come outside with her for a while. They both go outside.
Henry: sorry Ava I don’t know why Liam is like that to you
Ava: it’s okay it’s his habit
Henry: no he only behaves like this with you and no one else.
Ava: it’s okay you don’t have to worry I don’t mind
Ava spread her arms and hugs Henry.
Ava: your best friend is going. Won’t you hug her back?
Henry: oh come on you won’t be going for that much time.
Henry hugs Ava back; Ava tightens her grip around Henry’s shoulder as if she was saying goodbye forever.
Ava: I'll miss you!
Henry: I'll miss you too!
Ava says goodbye to Henry and goes off on her way. Liam was seeing all this from the window; he felt a wave of anger through his nerves but he still couldn't guess the cause of it.
