Xenon was now in front of Maxus' bedroom door. He was still hesitant to go to his son who was currently locked up after he argued with his friends because Maxus always felt jealous of his friends who could go out of the Land of Light, while he could not go anywhere.
"What if Maxus is still angry with me over that? I need to be able to talk to Maxus. Communication between father and son is important. I've promised myself that I'll be able to break the cycle of abuse that my father previously committed. I must be a good father to Maxus," Xenon thought.
Remembering the promise he had made to himself long before he met and even married Max, Xenon finally decided to talk to his son Maxus. He didn't want to repeat what his father had done, especially since Xenon had already cut his ties with his father.
Just as Xenon was about to call Maxus, his son opened the door in front of him.
"Oh, dad?" Maxus was a little surprised when he saw one of his two fathers now standing in front of his bedroom door. "What's the matter, father?"
The atmosphere was instantly awkward, especially for Xenon since he often punished Maxus by telling him to stay in his room if he got into mischief that was still at a reasonable level, except for beating up three of Max's former seniors. Even so, Xenon should be able to build a good relationship with his son, even though Maxus often got into Ultra teenage mischief.
" Well, you see..." Xenon scratched the back of his neck before he continued his sentence. "Can we talk? I mean, a father-son talk. You don't mind, do you?" Maxus was silent for a while, until he finally gave a short answer to his father. "Sure. Besides, I'm not in the mood to train right now. Especially since I'm still angry with Fuma," Maxus replied with a straight face. But Xenon knew that Maxus was still upset with his friends, especially Fuma who had told him that Maxus had skipped class 80, which could be clearly heard from his tone.
Xenon was now inside Maxus' room, with Maxus sitting on the edge of his bed.
'About that time...," Xenon started the conversation first. "Yes, I know. I was wrong that time," said Maxus who already knew what Xenon wanted to tell him. Hearing that, Xenon fell silent.
"So you've realized your mistake? I think that's good, because the willingness to admit your mistake is the attitude of an Ultra race. Being an Ultra doesn't mean you have to be strong in battle, but you have to be able to admit your mistakes and learn from them so that you can become a true Ultra," Xenon said. Maxus sighed until his shoulders lifted as he took a breath. "Maybe I should apologize to my friends, especially Fuma."
"Fuma was just worried about you. He knew that something was wrong with you. Back then, he met Taiga and he wasn't fine with all his physical and mental injuries when they first met. Not only him, but your friends, even your father and papa are also worried about you," Xenon said, explaining why Fuma told him about Maxus' actions.
Maxus, who had previously been reluctant to look at his father, now glanced at his father in confusion. "What do you mean?"
Xenon was eager to tell Maxus. He wanted to tell his son about the dark times that Max and he had experienced. He knew that Maxus always had nightmares about what happened to Max, but Xenon still felt that this was not the right time to tell him everything.
"I... I just feel that, you should be able to become an Ultra who can use all your potential to the fullest. The two of us forbidding you to leave the Land of Light for a mission is not without reason. Out there, there are many formidable enemies and we don't want to lose you. We just want you to hone your skills and train as hard as you can. That way, you can be like the other Ultra," Xenon explained.
Maxus was silent, trying to understand his father's explanation.
"Are you saying that if I can become stronger, I can go on missions like my friends?" Maxus asked. Xenon nodded his head. "Of course. Promise me that you will become the strongest Ultra and make us both proud, son."
Hearing his father's words brought a small smile to Maxus' face. Suddenly, Maxus asked his father a question that he had not yet asked.
"Oh yes, father! I wanted to ask you, why did you marry papa? Was it because you had the same past experiences?" Maxus asked.
Xenon's face turned deathly pale. Xenon himself didn't want to recall his childhood memories with his father because he only remembered physical injuries and verbal abuse during his childhood. He also didn't dare to tell Max in detail about the violence he experienced during his time as Frost's subordinate.
"You could say that we've been close ever since we met," Xenon replied trying to give the simplest answer as he didn't want to traumatize his son if he knew about his fathers' past.
"Oh," was all Maxus could say. He felt a bit disappointed that his father chose not to go into detail about his dad and papa's relationship before they got married, but he chose not to protest about his father's answer.
"Now, you must become a reliable Ultra warrior. I trust your abilities, Maxus," Xenon said as he patted Maxus' shoulder, then he walked out of Maxus' room.
Maxus then lay down on his bed.
"Why is dad so reluctant to talk about his relationship with papa before they got married?" Maxus muttered.
Meanwhile, on a planet thousands of light years away from Planet M78, there was a blue Ultraman, horns resembling ice stalactites and a scar over his left eye. An aura of hatred emanated from his body. He punched a rock in front of him.
"It's all your fault...," he muttered. "It's all your fault I have to live like this."
