The blood-curdling scream was coming from outside the cabin. Calum and Jess looked at each other and rushed outside. They were sure who the owner of the scream was and feared the worst. As they ran out the door, they saw a small dark figure in the distance crouching on the ground. As they got closer, the small figure was more recognizable. It was Mollie. They caught up to the girl, only to witness the horrible state the girl was in. She was crying so much her eyes were bloodshot, and her breathing was way past what you'd call abnormal. She was so scared, she kept trembling, hugging herself to try to ease her mind on whatever hell she'd encountered. As Jessie held on, trying but to no avail to soothe Mollie, Calum noticed something. "Where's Jared?" Simply mentioning his name was enough to send the girl back in her state of terror. It was clear, something happened. Something, or someone, had spooked Mollie and had taken Jared. Calum got his flashlight to illuminate the path into the dense forest that lay before them but it was useless. It was like the darkness just ate all the light being shone towards it, preventing any light from penetrating too far past the dense thicket of trees. (Tsk!) He clicked his tongue in frustration and was about to turn off the flashlight when he saw something that shocked him. His skin went pale and his pupils dilated. "What's wrong Cal?" Jessie asked, noticing something was off about him. No response. His breathing was increasing at an abnormal rate. Sweat was pouring out of him. His hands were trembling. Jessie saw his flashlight pointing towards the floor and attempted to look over the still distraught girl she was holding. She didn't know she'd soon come to regret it. On the ground lay blood splattered all over the entrance to the forest and a trail of blood receding farther into the forest. Next to the blood was one side of Jared's shoe and his phone. The screen was shattered. Jessie's grip on the crying mollie tightened as she feared the worst had come to pass, and that Jared....may be no more.
