Chapter 1: New Game
Knight stood bravely before the opponent, sword out and ready to strike the monstrous beast that stood in their way. The sword quivered slightly but stilled as they started the charge towards the monster, raising the sword and struck down. The creature roared in pain for a moment then growled as they countered with a bite with their mighty jaws.Snap!The teeth connected and the beast backed away momentarily before using the claws to swipe at the Knight. Raising the shield they blocked the attack and pushed the beast away and aimed a strike at the side. The monster howled and that did something to their speed, they moved faster and struck the Knight twice, they managed to block the first one but the second was a surprise attack and the damage was heavily dealt.The man in the Shining armour lay on the floor for a few seconds too long as a bite was aimed at him. More damage was taken as they stood to try and attack again, the monster stood growling at them.“It has a Bleeding Effect? Whoa!” The creature struck again and the Knight barely managed to block it. The armoured man breathed heavily as their HP started to slowly go down, the monster of a Wolf was too much. “The Level difference is insane! If I get hit again and the Bleeding Effect happens I’ll be logged out for a few days! Urgh!”“No food for days?” the Green blob that sat on the sidelines watching the fight take place with mild amusement opened their eyes completely. The Wolf reared up to attack again and the food driven blob shot forward to take the hit so the Knight Food Giver could recover. Not knowing the dangers of loosing all of their HP, the thought happened far to late to turn back. Their eyes widen at the sharp claws that reached towards them and still moving towards them in a somewhat slow motion. They closed their eyes ready to be Despawned and never to be heard from again.The hit connected and a blinding flash of light...The World was Dark and Breathless.There was Nothing around.No Sound.No Touch.It was Absolutely Still to the point that no breath was taken.Aside from the negative, it was peaceful.Like floating into Nothingness.No thoughts.No worries.Just absolute Peace and Lightness.Until it was Interrupted by a sound.Then before the eyes of the comfortable entity surrounded by nothing, was a green screen.

It was strange, knowing what this screen was. Knowing what the words on it meant. Now the question was, what would the name for this character’s trait be?

It seemed right, not much memory before the darkness but this trait seemed alright.

The world filled in with trees and greenery, sounds starting to rush in like waves from the ocean. Then momentary silence before sound was stable and calming.Birds chirping and singing.The wind blowing lightly in the crisp green leaves of the trees and blades of grass.Squishing sounds?The world felt big and majestic from their spot in the forest floor.That’s where the squishing sounds were coming from, the different transparent coloured orbs were squishing and bouncing about happily.It was next to peaceful, but they wondered if the darkness would come back.

‘Tutorial?’ they wondered,  ‘More importantly is this thing going to remain persistent? Well, may as well learn about this... world.’Although in their opinion, it was better in darkness, less blinding.

Staring at the green screen like it was suppose to add more words to it. They wondered if this part of the Tutorial was broken, unless it was one of those stupid thought command ones. Shaking their head knowing that was impossible and stupid, but out of curiosity they decided to try it. ‘Menu, Inventory.’

‘Oh, wonderful!’ they stared at the locked tabs and partly narrowed their eyes at it, ‘Everything needs to be unlocked before advancement. This is probably going to get old fast.’Taking a quick glance around the trees covered most of the blue sky, the squishing sound was from those colourful transparent orbs. Did that one just smile? Well, they were a Slime after all it’s probably being friendly and it was a bit disturbing that the only facial thing they could see was the darker coloured eyes.‘Gross.’ looking at the section below the tabs they were met with a box of two by four.

‘Nothing like owning a pet,’ they thought staring at the Collar with a tag and then seeing what else was there, ‘What’s with the coin? There’s also limited space here, what could they want with such a small box? Well, best not to travel heavy so this will work out... Actually why travel?’

‘Tamer’s? Great, stuck with this name for awhile until someone comes by with the right class and level to change it. Should have paid more attention. Why is that thing getting closer? It’s huge.’

‘... Useless information about a damn coin!’ looking to the Orange spherical shape moving closer they wondered what it wanted the eyes seemed to have age lines on them,

The more Untameable looked at it the more worried they got, they start out as a Level 1 Slime with nothing more to protect them than to talk to another Slime? Truly there was someone out there laughing at them for the misgivings they’ve been dealt. The only thing left to do was finish the darn Tutorial.

‘Now what’s this? More useless Coins and what to do with a Skill Point? Why need them? Just a useless Slime out in the middle of nowhere with other useless Slime's. Is it because of the Tamable aspect?’ they sighed trying to calm themselves down.‘Who would want a Slime? No one wants a Slime as a companion. All Slime's are good for is being killed and gaining EXP.’ They calmed down enough to continue with the Tutorial in hopes that it would end soon.

Well, looking at this tree or whatever it seems there are a lot of routes to go.Warrior, Mage, Magician, Archer. Oh great, there’s more beyond that!What is a Dead Walker?Apocalyptist?Reviver?There’s a Bartender?What are all these things?That looks to be over 50 things, what is this under them?It branches?!Oh no.Is there a cheat sheet to see what the end thing is? Is there even an end to it?Whatever, just finish the Quest and use the stupid Skill Point.Actually... logically thinking, the least amount of work to do the better. Warrior requires too much muscle and movement.Mage and Magician requires using your head a lot.Archer seems to be the least amount of effort. Just shoot a Bow and be done with it. Or no... no arms. Also it requires focus.What does the end look like, actually nah, just pick whatever. It’s not going to change much of anything really.Just a Slime.A Slime can’t do much other than squish about.‘Speaking of, that Old Slime is finally here but they're just smiling? All that can be seen are the eyes.’ Sighing, the pick was easy for them. Archer. Slime's have no arms it can’t use a Bow and if no Bow is used the class is useless. The same could be said about Warrior since the class mostly hold a Sword, but Warriors could use other things to help them fight.

Starring at the wall of text going off the green screen was... headache inducing. What even is this? What are words?

Seeing the message of the Skill Points being locked was relieving but also worrying that they have that many to begin with. ‘Having to go into the Menu and click the Skill Tree, urgh, getting tired just thinking about it. Isn’t there something to help along the way like an Auto Clicker?’

They relaxed and started to think of what was going on, ‘Very strange that the system was broken. Don’t these things run smoothly? Or was this a beta thing? Well, it’s more strange that knowing these words in this world... actually knowing the out of pla- actually never mind... I’m getting tired and this Old Slime won’t leave.’

The sad look on this Old Slime was indeed heartbreaking but then it turned to a look of determination and once again approached with the same Quest.

Finally, that was annoying. It doesn’t seem like anything else wants attention, just a quiet place in the forest with Slime's everywhere. Blue, Red, Orange, Pink, Purple, Yellow... no Green Slime's, odd. Well, doesn’t really matter what colours are out there, just knowing that they won’t be bothered any time soon was enough. Its time for a nap as well, the Tutorial was exhausting.‘I’m a Level 1 Tamable Archer Slime with no weapons to speak of and only two useless skills. Speak and Merge. Also useless collars and coins. What will become of the Skill Points?’“Tsk.”‘Just rest, everything will be sorted out soon. There’s a lot of bugs for this MIDNIGHT WORLD. Best to rest, rest...’Closing their eyes finally, the world was once again shrouded in darkness. The ever sweet darkness, the noise fading away in gentle cotton.
