Damn. How the hell had he missed? He had been on the seat right against the wall and YooJin had been fast, his fists even faster, but somehow the man had dodge.
YooJin sighed. No, of course he had, he was an alpha after all.
“Wizard.”
He blinked. What? His eyes homed in on the fist-sized hole in the wall where the alpha’s head had been only inches away, a moment ago.
“You’re a wizard?” the alpha said, standing as he brushed off the dust from his suit. “I thought only omegas were allowed to work here.”
YooJin stared at the impossible bright blue past the break in the wall. Who...?
“They are,” he replied, thoughtlessly, suddenly realizing the impact of what he had just tried to do. He looked around. He needed to get out.
“You’re an omega?” came the alpha’s surprised voice.
YooJin took an involuntary step back, feeling, even through the soles of his shoes, the bills beneath his feet.
“Wait!” said the alpha and YooJin felt a hand grab the sleeve of his suit. He wrenched his hand away and began to run.
What had he been thinking? He had to get out of here. Right now. If he got caught—
BUZZ. BUZZ.
He faltered slightly, startled by the vibrations of the phone in his pocket.
It had only been a second, only a second of hesitation, but it had been enough.
A moment later, he felt himself falling face first to the carpeted floor, his glasses scattered a few inches in front of him, amongst a scattered pile of $100 bills.
Damn, these alphas and their athletic abilities.
He quickly twisted back to see the alpha holding onto his legs. He too was nearly flat on the ground, his eyes narrowed and serious.
The alpha’s gaze, even more than the pheromones, sent shivers down his spine. For a second, YooJin felt as though he had been caught by a dangerous predator.
He kicked out at him, but the alpha’s grip remained ironclad.
“Get off,” YooJin hissed. He felt his phone buzz again in his pocket but had no choice but to ignore it.
“Just calm down!” the alpha said, his face pressed into the back of his thighs, right above his knees.
YooJin stilled, he could feel the alpha’s hot breath through the thin fabric of his pants. He felt a strange warmth start to spread from the places where they touched.
Somewhat panicked by his body's strange response, he jerked his hips then squirmed, flopping like a worm to try to dislodge the large form atop him.
“Calm down,” the alpha said again, his hold tightening on him and YooJin felt goosebumps rise on his skin.
“F-Fine,” he finally said, his forehead, nose, and lips pressed against the carpeted floor. “Just let go of me.”
After a long moment, he felt the alpha release him and YooJin took that opportunity to try to scramble away but the alpha, apparently having anticipated his actions, lurched toward him and grabbed him by the waist, tumbling them once more toward the floor.
“These omegas, I swear.” He mumbled unintelligible words into YooJin’s shirt before spouting, “—annoying.”
YooJin glared at the top of the alpha's head for a moment before twisting his body to the right and maneuvering his arms until he suddenly had the alpha in neck lock.
“Let go of me, you –oohff!”
YooJin tightened his hold, not to seriously impede the alpha’s breathing but enough to have him choke on his words. “Didn’t you say omegas were weak? You should be able to get out of this no problem then.”
The alpha, flailing, tapped roughly on the arm that held him even as he glared up at him.
YooJin nearly smirked. “Brat,” he said. “Calling me annoying? Who told you to talk to your elders like that? Well... it's been fun even with all this crap your senselessness has put me through but I’ve got to go. Plans, you see. I can't pay you back for any damage but you're the son of that rich fart so I think you'll be fine. Stop trying to stop me, it's not worth it.” He then released the alpha and quickly rolled over to his feet, picking up his glasses and whatever $100 bills he could. By the time the alpha gathered himself, YooJin was already at the door.
His hand just touched the doorknob when he felt a hand grip the fabric of his pants and a moment later he heard a loud—
RIP.
He looked down in surprise to see that his right pant leg had been torn midthigh, revealing skin that was several shades lighter than his arms and face. The alpha was on the ground beneath him, his hand still gripping the tattered fabric that gathered at his feet.
The alpha met his gaze then standing, sighed and pressed his hand against the door, preventing YooJin from leaving, irritation clear in his eyes.
YooJin tried not to flinch. The pheromones were mostly gone by then but that didn’t matter when it came to dominant alphas, their gazes alone had some kind of strange inexplicable power.
“Stay,” he said and YooJin felt his body briefly freeze.
Sighing loudly, the alpha brushed himself off with his free hand.
“Look,” said YooJin clearing his throat as he ignored the command to the alpha’s surprise. He kicked the now useless pant leg away from his foot and scratched his chin. “I uh— I didn’t mean to punch you there. I mean—uh, if you just hadn’t spilled your pheromones into the room like that I wouldn’t have hit you and you wouldn’t have gotten hurt—”
“What are you talking about?” the alpha asked with an annoyed expression.
YooJin blinked. “Your face…”
“What about my face?”
YooJin quickly shut his mouth. If the alpha hadn’t noticed the cut then he wouldn’t be the one to point it out.
“Then what did you need me for—repayment for the wall? For failing to protect Mara?” he asked, confused. He could think of nothing else as to why the alpha would stop him so desperately.
“Who?”
YooJin couldn’t help but look at the alpha in disbelief before pointing to the motionless form on the other side of the room.
Looking at the awkward position in which she lay, YooJin realized, belatedly, that he probably should have moved her to the couch….
The alpha waved his hand in dismissal.
YooJin’s brow rose in surprise. “You really are a bit of a prick. You used aggressive pheromones on your fiance and you don’t even care that she’s on the ground, unconscious—”
The alpha blinked. “She isn’t my fiance.”
YooJin’s brows knotted in question. He had been told by the manager that they were engaged. “Then—”
The alpha sighed and shook his head, his hand still pressed firmly against the door. “She is an omega sent by my family. That is all you need to know. She means nothing to me and she got off far lighter than she would have otherwise for what she was trying to do.”
“What was she—”
“It isn’t any of your business.”
YooJin’s brows rose. “Okay…” he said slowly. “So then if you don’t want payment then… what do you want?”
“The hole you inadvertently punched in the club’s wall.”
YooJin’s gaze briefly went back to the wall. The bright blue sky still peeked back at him.
“I told you—I can’t pay for that.”
“And I told you that I don’t care about the money.”
YooJin looked back at him in frustration. “Then wh—”
“I care about how you caused it.”
“What?”
“You punched through more than a foot of concrete.”
YooJin looked back at the wall in disbelief. No, that wasn’t possible. The only real explanation was that the hole was already there or the foundation had significantly weakened before YooJin’s fist made contact.
“And before you start any useless excuses, the foundation of this place is sound. You are, without a doubt, the reason for that hole.”
YooJin shook his head. “That’s… not possible—a human couldn’t do that.”
“You’re right,” he replied, with barely hidden annoyance. “A simple human can’t but a wizard can.”
Wizard. Why the hell did this alpha keep talking about wizards? “What the hell are you talking about?”
“Easier for me to show you,” the alpha said and without warning he picked up a heavy ashtray from a nearby table and hurled it at YooJin. It promptly smacked him in the cheek, the same cheek where the gash had formed on the alpha as a result of his punch. YooJin briefly wondered if this was some kind of revenge before the pain surged through him.
He yelped, placing his hand over his face as he rapidly stepped up to the alpha. He suddenly and again found himself in the same position he had been earlier, with his hand clutching the front of the alpha’s shirt in a furious grip, ready to punch his handsome face once more.
“Huh,” said the alpha in confusion, staring at him. “That should have worked.”
YooJin looked at the man as if he was a complete idiot. “What the hell were you trying to do, idiot!”
“Maybe if I do it again,” the alpha said as if he didn’t hear him. He then twisted his body against YooJin’s grip in an attempt to reach for the fallen ashtray.
YooJin pushed the alpha into a nearby seat. “Just explain! Use your words! Your words!” he yelled, one hand still holding onto his now swollen cheek and the other still gripping the alpha by the front of his shirt.
The alpha looked at him for a moment before speaking. “The impact should have caused a burst of mana, it would have been small considering the level of impact was trifling, but it would have been enough for the burst to move the small objects in this room. Perhaps it was too small, maybe if I hit you with the chair…”
YooJin’s eyes widened as his grip tightened. This alpha was crazy, there was no other explanation. “You’re nuts,” he said, releasing him. He then turned toward the door. “If you’re not here for payment then I’m out of here.”
YooJin began to walk toward the door when all of a sudden a barstool rushed past him and slammed against the closed door, blocking him from leaving. YooJin froze, indignant anger surging through him as he turned back to look at the alpha. But… he was still sitting in the chair where he had left him, nowhere near where the stools had been.
YooJin looked at him in disbelief. He picked up the stool and analyzed it from every angle, looking for some kind of mechanism or trigger, something that could explain what had just happened.
The alpha scoffed. “The dumb expression on your face tells me you don’t believe what you just saw.”
He stood then and placed his palms together. “Watch clearly now. Normally, I’d need a medium but the floor in this room is made of marble.”
YooJin watched as the alpha in an almost embarrassingly dramatic fashion rubbed his hands together and slammed them into the black marble floor. YooJin winced, certain that the impact would have caused shock to run up the idiot’s arms. A second later however, his head swiveled to the stool as it was launched high into the air diagonally and slid back to the other side of the room, right to the empty spot against the bar.
He cursed in surprise and turned back to look at the alpha who was smirking arrogantly at him. “Irrefutable proof,” was all he said and the flesh beneath YooJin’s right eye twitched.
The alpha was so damn annoying and so despite the astonishment he had felt a moment ago, YooJin couldn’t help the words that spilled from his mouth. “Was that supposed to impress me? Seems useless—this magic." He scoffed. "Moving a chair through marble flooring.”
The alpha stared at him, shocked at his lack of amazement. “No, there’s a lot more to it.” He stood angrily. “Come with me and I’ll show you—”
“Just tell me what you want me with me,” said YooJin, cutting his words short, he wasn’t sure what he was supposed to be feeling right now. Wizard? Mana? What kind of nonsense was this? Even if it were all true, why the hell did this alpha need him?
The alpha scoffed in disbelief. “As expected from a lowly commoner.”
YooJin gritted his teeth. He really knew how to get on his nerves. “You—”
“Fine,” said the alpha. “It’s simple really. I want to make a deal with you.” He walked over until he stood just a foot away from him. Despite the fact that YooJin, at 5’9, was significantly taller than most omegas, the man still towered over him. “From the way you tried to weasel money out of me earlier and how you sneakily tried to pocket those $100 bills as you ran away, I’m going to guess you need money.”
He met YooJin’s eyes. “I’ll pay you whatever you want. Your 80 thousand, 100 thousand, a million, even 100 million.”
Yoo Jin froze, gazing up at the man in surprise. What the hell? He couldn’t understand… why was this alpha willing to pay such an exorbitant sum—what exactly did he want from him? “Why?”
“In return,” the alpha continued, ignoring his question, “I want you to become my omega.”
