"Yo, yo," an anxious voice hollered. She stood in the doorway, eyeing her coffee mug, then let out a hefty sigh of relief. Should've known it was her class.
"Oh, you thought you spilled it again, teach?" Bro chuckled.
The teacher strolled in, as spaced out as ever, her glasses all crooked. "I guess I was late again. My bad," she said, dropping her bag on the chair. The whole class sighed together, no one bothering to pull out their books. Sinking into my seat, I noticed Eva back in hers too.
"So, how late was I this time?"
"Only ten minutes left for class to end," someone replied from the front.
"Oh, haha. Traffic, you see," she shamelessly lied. She forgot she had a class again! And we know it.
"Oh, we know. Traffic," Leon snickered, tossing a chocolate cube in his mouth. "Can she not see that pretty girl sleeping at the end?" he muttered, poking me in the stomach.
"She ain’t seeing anything bro," I admitted, slouching back “She should get her Lenz checked”
"That girl’s lucky," Bro says peeking a glance at her well asleep.
I nodded in agreement as the teacher slumped into her chair, rambling about everything but teaching.
"Rois! What happened to you?" she asks and my ears perk up. She noticed him at last.
"Fell down the stairs," he replied.
The whole class winced.
"Oh, kid. Class is over," she declared, grabbing her bag and walking out.
As soon as the teacher was gone, the exotic girl began to amble out too. Up ahead, Tanaka glared at Rois. She slammed her wrists on the table and walked out as well.
"Oi! Wait!" I yelled from behind for some reason. In an attempt to not miss out, I ran behind them, but bro was just as fast as me. I'd never seen him run that fast. Screaming and pulling his hair, I tried to slow him down. He was too noisy, and they'd surely notice us.
She silently ascended the rooftop's stairs, Tanaka following just as quietly. Bro and I, trying to calm our loud panting, stood on the steps below for a moment, then joined them, seeing something we shouldn't have.
Grumpy paws killing the exotic girl. She had her cornered against the wall, grabbing her collar. Exotic one’s mouth moves, I look at Bro and he shakes his head. We both didn’t catch a word. Grumps hit her in the face. The exotic one tilted her neck to the left and flashed a smile. Her cheek blood red and then she spit on Grumps’s face! She dodged.
bro poked me “Go stop them, it’s getting deadly”
“Yo go and stop them”
“You” he refused again.
Scissors against the rock! I should have known already. I strut towards them with the chances of me getting clocked by both girls “Um.. could you please relax your grip on her neck? You're strangling her. Thank you” Like a gentle man I relay the message hoping to not get involved and rush away.
“Stop right there,” Grumps tells me “ and you come here too!” she glares at him.
The very next moment bro’s standing still as a twig just beside me.
“She threw me a piece of paper and now when I am asking her why–” Grumpy paws began to explain why she’s holding her collar in her hand.
“Jeez, you guys aren’t moving? Scared or something? This b*tch over here is manlier than you two!” she chuckles as I and bro struggle to come up with an excuse and bounce “I don’t bite so don’t crap your pants all scared!” she adds smirking and me and grumps stop bro in his track.
“Shut up–” Leon snarls.
“Should I feel honored that a womanizer talked to me?” she cuts him.
Someone’s gonna blow up tonight. Bro opens his mouth smirking to say the most horrendous line, quickly I yank him and shut his mouth. He’s got a lot of sins already.
“Huh? You got yourself a mommy to keep you from saying-” she begins to direct an aim towards me. Leon bites my finger.
“Did you grow up without parenthood?” Grumpy Paws walks closer to her and adds “Your language suggests that way”
She stares at her blankly. Maybe Grump’s right or maybe she’s out of comeback lines.
“Oh! So.. here you guys are… What happened?” breathing hard Rois asks, appearing in the door’s frame.
“Don’t ask,” I answered him like the honest man that I am.
“I can guess-” Rois begins to speak
“So? How did you find us?” bro asks him.
“Um..your screams man” Rois answers scratching his head “so-”
“Huh? I never screamed it was him!” Bro points his finger at me.
“Don’t try that hard, everyone can tell, they were girly-” I throw him a real answer.
“Huh? Whatcha say?-” he snarls
“Enough you two! Pipe down!” Tanaka orders. “And you! Get over here and explain yourself,” she tells Rois.
She’s fuming again, so bro and I whisper in Rois’s ear instead of saying it out loud, “Get in the ring! We're done with our round.”
“Tap out if you wanna back out so we can throw in a white tissue for you,” I add.
The smile that I keep trying to hide keeps creeping back onto my face. Things look interesting from the sidelines, as long as you're out of the danger zone and nothing is directed toward you.
“You guys got a lighter? She stepped on mine and I ain’t touching that filthy lighter again,” came a soft voice. Bro and I gulped and looked her way. She was already pretty but with the blue sky behind her and her short messy bangs sticking on her forehead… She blinked as she looked our way, with rosy lips, tired blue eyes, and skin as white as snow. Blood red cheeks. Her hand stretched in the air.
“Is she really asking for a lighter?” I mutter.
“For real? She’s gonna smoke or set us on fire?” bro asks me
“Yup, no sweat,” Leon tells her and begins to search his pocket.
The dude threw him a lighter and she caught it. Lighting a roll, she stood there nonchalantly, looking forward to the drama that is about to unravel and had got us just as excited.
“Shh..sh..” Bro puts his finger on his mouth and points with the other hand to them.
Rois is sitting on the ground cross-legged and pulls something out of his pocket.
